Desi, burning sage is not a closed practice. Cleansing a space (with sage or any other herb) is not closed. The ONLY thing that is considered “closed” is the act of “smudging”, which is a ceremonial practice. Which, btw, if you aren’t part of a group that practices that, you wouldn’t know what those ceremonies look like. It’s a lot more complex than I can go into here, but you have done nothing disrespectful. You’re wonderful, though, for caring about things like that.

Witchy tip. You need to open all of your doors and windows (open screens too) when smudging. It's meant to "sweep" all the negative energy outside. Also a little goes a long way when you have pets. Dogs and cats are really sensitive to smoke.

Sage doesn't just get rid of spirits but all unwanted negative energies. There are substitutes for sage,which is over harvested. Bundles of cedar ,rosemary or bay for example. This was such a fun video! I adore all the same things you do. My favorite time of year!,keep it coming.

I started "fall deep cleaning" our home and when I do, I always put on all of your fall videos. I have to say Desi, this video, this video gave me so much serotonin. I even caught my husband smiling when you two were dancing with the mock margaritas. I was there for the filming of that movie. It was in Washington on two different Islands. The town was in Coupeville. They painted all the store fronts white. The hill that Sandra Bullock runs up to get to the house actually runs into a parking lot. The house front was on Friday Harbor no where near the town they filmed in. LOL, Movie magic. In case you don't know (as you said you were new to it) burning white sage is a closed practice for indigenous people because it is endangered! But you can absolutely achieve the same effect by burning garden sage! It's also super cheap!
