I love watching your videos. It is very enjoyable to watch your production process, including the music you have chosen, it is like therapy. I have also tried this recipe of yours. I have experimented with himalayan rhubarb 2 times. In fact, in the second one, I did the whole process, including the mixing temperatures, exactly as you showed. When mixing the oils, a wonderful red tone was formed on both. Whenever I added the lye mixture and started mixing, I got an interesting grayish-blue tone. 😞But I want red. I rely on your experience; according to you, why might I not have achieved the color red?🙏❤

also as I’m just starting to study cold and hot process soap making before I actually start the process (I’ve been doing melt and pour for many years) but, checking the lye temps. Some people say make sure the temps are about the same between lye and oils and some say just make sure the lye solution is not hotter than oils… What temps on each part do you recommend each being before adding lye solution to oils?

so i finally rec'd the Himalayan rhubarb root powder and processed a batch. i caught myself using a full tbs to infuse and substituted out about a third of the infused oil and added the remainder for the full olive oil allotment. we shall see how it looks in the morning here.
@shoresofreedom2 жыл бұрын
how do your soaps behave over time? I noticed that you do not use tallow nor lard nor palm oil, the key ingredient to make the soap hard over time and nor turn into a sloppy mess. I do know that shea and cocoa butter can be used instead like you do, but need to cure for up to 2 years, but you only cure them for a month. any insight?
@tellervo.2 жыл бұрын
Why would they need to be cured for 2 years? Butters like cocoa and shea butter contain lots of stearic and palmitic acid. These are the same fatty acids that can be found in lard, tallow and palm, and these are the fatty acids that contribute to a hard and long lasting soap. There's nothing special about the fats that you mentioned and they can be substituted with fats that have similar fatty acid profiles without having to cure for any longer.
