This was so relaxing. Watching Enzo meticulously select the tomatoes warmed my heart. We always have a large bowl of fresh tomatoes, or as best as can be found during colder months, on our kitchen island. The pantry can never be too well stocked! During the shutdown, it was the only time that my husband did not give me grief for having so much pasta in the pantry. 🤣🇮🇹 (I just snuck in a recent Amazon delivery of 6 bags of Rummo rigatoni!!) We’ve had it twice so far & he is none the wiser of where it came from! 😋

Thank you. Enzo loves his pasta with tomato sauce and we have tomato salads or caprese salad very often in the summer.

Thank you for the wonderful slow video. I especially liked the small sequence in the market. When we visit Italy we do enjoy both the large markets and the smaller grocers. Really looking forward to our visit back to Lucca in the fall.

Good to see outside Lucia’s historical walls. Lovely market for local fresh helps keep the local economy in excellent shape, shoe repair shop seems busy. Thanks for sharing .Ciao John, uk

A big sadness for me is that there is not a lovely daily food market inside the walls. Twice a week a small organic market is held in two different locations. This weekly market can look quite dull until you dig. I have found amazing bargains but you do need to have a bit of a will.

I underline the comment below this in respect to the relaxing nature of this week's episode. It meanders along with due respect to summer heat and your advice to slow down. Pleased to hear about the local uprising re the shack (I think that might be an Australian word to describe it) just outside the walls. From what I could see in part, the prices in the greengrocer's appeared reasonable and if Enzo gives it approval then one assumes quality is even more 'reasonable'. Grazie.

The quality of their vegetables is very good and they have a very fast turnover. Eating a frate as a young person is a rite of passage for every Lucchese and eating it in later life renews that vow.

Hola!buscando videos sobre Luca,encontré vuestro canal.He mirado algunos de vuestros videos y me gusta vurstro estilo. Ciao!

Thank you for your lovely words. There are green areas outside the wall. The area by the river is a regional park. Lucca is surrounded by hills with wonderful country walk. The rents outside the walls in general are cheaper than inside the walls. Good luck with your search for your little bit of paradise

Lovely video…that danish pastry looked mouthwatering ! I was very interested in your comments about the jewish communities scattered around the area. There is a synagogue in Pisa …the Jewish population there thought to be the oldest in Tuscany. Cant wait to return to the hill next week. Xx

Hi Enzo and Celia- I just came across your channel and enjoyed your video of Lucca. My husband and I will be coming to Italy in May. His mom's family is from Porcari just outside of Lucca. We are thinking about renting ebikes in Lucca to ride to Porcari. Do you know if this is a good choice? I've been scouring YT to see if someone has done this, but have not found anyone. It's our first trip to Italy.
@PiazzaTalkLucca11 ай бұрын
Thank you for subscribing and joining us. I am not an expert on cycling as I only have a town bike with no gears but Porcari is on the Via Francigena and only about 10 KM from Lucca city. I have cycled on the Via Romana and it is a busy road. I think the best thing is you contact www.ciclismoplus.com/rent-a-bike-in-tuscany/bike-rental-in-lucca/. Max Pullinger works there and speaks English. Do mention my name Celia (Bagni di Lucca) and Piazza Talk. I think he will be able to answer all your questions.

I love little markets and stores. Also, when I travel anywhere in the world, I go into the neighborhoods to eat and shop. As I age, sadly, I find that a little more risky. What was funny before your video started - Dunkin Donuts, a New England based business, but now in 44 US states, put an advertisement before your video. Not appropriate since they do not have the quality of coffee of italy.
@PiazzaTalkLucca Жыл бұрын
A coincidence? Can KZbin read what we're saying? We find very relaxing wandering around our market. We also end up in that bar for a coffee and a little rest.
