When I was in tech school my cadre told us that a lot of bases you gotta get to the armory like 2 hours early because there’s so many people. Cut to me my first day, days, thinking I gotta get in 2 hours early when guardmount is 445 and show time is 400 walking my dumbass around an empty squadron at 2 until someone goes “yeah your flight isn’t gonna come in for a while” then I was late af the next day

Funni Asian Man It’s got its ups and downs like any career field. If you go overseas there’s opportunities that you get at lower ranks that people back stateside don’t get until around SrA or staff. Cops are definitely a different breed from how we talk, carry ourselves, interact within and outside of our job. I try to have as much fun as I can even when stuffs boring but a boring night is a good night

@jduddie2 5 жыл бұрын
Funni Asian Man definitely try to stay fit, be optimistic about every opportunity even if something sounds shitty, jump at those opportunities and try to get your name out there, there’s a saying that cops eat their own but don’t be like that because at the end of the day you want as many people in your corner as possible and no one will support someone who steps on their own to move up, and just be aware of yours and the people around you’s mental health you got a weapon everyday your working so if there’s something going on tell someone. Too many defenders don’t. Learn how to talk to people and take criticism because you’ll be called for everything and get the most blame and all your actions will be under a microscope so best to know how to defuse situations because you don’t always need to be an asshole and that doesn’t help your case if you are one. Have fun and do the best job you can like if you’re at a gate everyday well fuck be the best damn gate guard your squadron has ever seen, build rapport will the populous, shit like that because if someone’s coming through the gate pissed at world and see a friendly face and hear a good morning, maybe joke a bit, you changed their whole day. Bottom line have fun and don’t be an asshole unless you gotta turn it on, learn as much as you can, study and be ready for everything because no 2 situations are ever the same

I was a Army MP for 8 years, got out and joined Ohio ANG 121st Refueling Wing SFS here in Columbus Ohio. It was so different, in the way day to days are done, just down to arming yourself on duty. In the Army, at least then, you did not chamber a round in the Beretta. I truly miss my time in though. Best NCO's and officers, I ever worked with bar none. I at least got to become a certified armorer, and was learning the Security Control part before I got out.

I had horrible experiences in security forces from 2000-2004. The camaraderie and morale was horrific overseas and even worse state side. Standing on aircraft for 12 hrs with flack vest, helmet m4 and 120 rounds around my waist without seeing anybody for hrs on end was a mental battle for me. My leader ship was okay overseas however stateside msgt McCloud made everyone feel worthless animals. My days off often consisted of training or briefings after working all night long. I don’t regret enlisting but thank God it was only 4 yrs of my life. I didn’t have it easy at all for it being Air Force. to make life worse, I got out and worked for dept of corrections for 16 yrs and then broke my neck trying to get property out of a cell by an angry inmate. I still thank Jesus for all blessings and move forward.

I am a Former Security Policeman 6 years Active/9 years Air National Guard and I can tell you I wouldn't trade my time in the USAF Security Police for anything ...I loved it! It is what you make it. I was stationed at Dyess AFB for 3 years in the Strategic Air Command..we had a squadron of B52D's..4 Nuclear uploaded on alert at all times. We also had 3 squadron's of C-130's. I did Fly Away Security. We trained 4 times a year in Air Base Ground Defense at Ft. Hood Army Base against the US Army 7th Calvary Scouts. I was on one of the first EST's..Emergency Service Team's (SWAT) in the Air Force. I got to attend the FBI SWAT School and we got to put on EST training demonstrations along with the Combat Control Team across the street from Security Control. (We loaded on 2 C 130's with a Combat Control Team climbed to 20,000 ft., the CCT did a halo jump. After deploying the CCT the 130's spiraled down and did an Assault landing on a dirt strip. We deployed in our Armored vehicles out the back of the C130's and took the objective, reloaded with the nuclear weapon we recovered from the Terrorists and did a Assault takeoff)!! I was stationed for 1 year in Turkey at a secret MUNSS site. I was the NCOIC of Arms and Equipment for the Security detachment and also the Team Leader for the RRT ( Recapture and Recovery Team) a joint Turkish American Anti-terrorist Team. When I rotated back to the World, I was assigned for 2 years at Langley AFB, VA to Headquarters Tactical Air Command. The unit I was in is the Tactical Air Command Guard...we were the Security for the CINCTAC (Commander and Chief Tactical Air Command..4 Star General). During my time in the Alabama Air National Guard I got to go to "Sliver Flag Alpha" in Indian Springs, NV, the USAF SP Desert Warfare and Survival School. It is what you make it, I did a lot of different things in the Security Police Field....AND LOVED EVERY MINUTE... except for the time I spent in a Turkish Military Prison..but that is another story!

I have a golden retriever at home too and i'm planning on joining the air force security forces. I've heard that this job requires long hours, so how do you care for your pups at home? Right now my pup is the only thing standing in my way of signing on. Please tell me how you juggle this job and your dogs.

I’ve been looking into joining the afng and doing security forces But I see so many negative comments about it on other videos 😞 I’m getting so many different opinions it’s crazy plus can you even do security forces if your in the Air National Guard or is that something you can only do if you’re active duty? I have so many questions man….

I was Army Air Defense Artillery (16S-Stingers) 1983-1986. We would go to AF bases to practice tracking live aircraft. I told an AF Captain, a fighter pilot that yes, we do keep up on our aircraft recognition, but I STILL can't tell the difference between an F-15 and a MIG-29. He said "Don't tell me that."

yn_ King stay flexible for job opportunities within the Air Force. Don’t get locked on one specific job, because if you go to MEPS and don’t qualify for that job, you’ll be devastated. Also keep a positive attitude. It’ll make the entire experience awesome. Good luck

@@ciscoduran5033 I got tired of the word field in field artillery. :) Good for you...get that O-E pay! I just like the camaraderie in the SF world. I was also a Raven so that kept me on a lot of TDYs and deployments. You might do a whole lot of nothing but you are the first line of defense for the base, aircraft or personnel. Again...its what you make of it. There are other shreds and SEI you can get to make it more interesting then checking ID's. Good luck to you!

@@glouez7326I’m in the process of enlisting in the USAF reserves and this will be my job. What is a raven? How can I become one? What are TDYs? I want to volunteer as much as possible so I don’t earn just 300 a month. I want to make this my full time, something like AGR. Any tips that I should mention to the recruiter? Thx!!

Hey! I am highly interested in enlisting in the Air Force but more specifically, enlisting into security forces and I was wondering how you get into the different jobs? I know there is gate duty, dagger, ravens, etc. but can you specifically pick one and join in or does everyone have to start of in a specific position and work your way up? As well as is there a way to avoid gate duty or is it again, one of those things that everyone starts off in and they have to move up out of it? Thanks!

Do they also fill in normal positions as enlisted? I’m more of a hands on type person but my parents will not allow me to go enlisted.
