Austin Tyler The Creator can confirm, I work for another company but doing pretty much this and you have to put up with crappy store managers and store receivers and what not. This is actually pretty wholesome. A lot of my coworkers are very much “we don’t like our job but there’s not much else we can do about it” type of mentality. A good amount of that mentality is all personal mindset but it doesn’t make it all that good of a job either.
@TheKANTUS1015 жыл бұрын

I almost worked as a Pepsi vendor before the job I’m doing now and honestly am glad I didn’t, the area I am in is terrible for vendors it seems like.

Maybe y’all do it different, but I worked for CCBCC(coca cola bottling company consolidated) as a merchandiser driver. I started work at 4 am and didn’t get back till usually 5pm. I was pushing my 14hr clock every day. We were not paid hourly. We got paid $120 a day plus 7¢ per case we delivered and our overtime was calculated using some formula because we weren’t hourly workers. One 2 week paycheck I had 40 hrs overtime(80 reg hrs plus 40 OT hrs = 120 hrs worked) so needless to say I worked my butt off. When I got my pay stub and I looked at line that says OT pay, I got paid $235 for my 40 hrs overtime. That means my hourly OT rate was about 4/hr. That was the final straw for me. When I started out my day my trailer was always loaded full. From the front to back. I would hardly have room for my pallet jack and coolift. Yea I had a few pallets on there for bulk stops like Walmart, and big chain grocery stores, but I would usually have 4-5 RDs for every stop. I feel like they knew they were paying us next to nothing for OT so the loaded ya down for 12 hr days purposely to save money. I mean it made sense from a company stand point. If you have 15 guys working 12 hr days. To get us to 8 hr days That equals 22 employees needed to cover. Why hire 7 extra guys, trucks and trailers and Pay those 7 extra guys the same 120 a day plus 7¢ per case, when you can get 15 guys to work 60 hrs of over time combined a day to make up the difference and when You’re only paying them about 4/hr for OT, it makes sense to do that. Plus our area is rural so it’s spread out. A lot of drive time. Like I said, I wasn’t paid hourly. I was paid $120 a day plus what I delivered. When you’re in the truck driving you technically aren’t making any money. The route I had, once a week, had a stop an hr and a half away from the work center. So the hour and a half drive back was essentially me driving the truck for free and not getting paid. If this guys right, y’all sound a lot better then the one I worked for. Hopefully he is truthful. I was worked to death for about 4-$5/hr above minimum wage pay by the time you calculated my pay divided by my hrs worked. And don’t forget, you have to have a class A cdl to drive the trucks. That’s a skill I wasn’t being fairly compensated for. Sorry for the rant, just had to warn people. Different areas around the US has different Coca Cola companies distributing Coca Cola products. Look in to yours specifically. This guy worked for a different distributor than I did.

I hope every single person who gets inspired to do this job just by watching this video sees your comment. You are speaking 100% truth. Each branch is different as each route can be different. Some can be easy or hard. The people at your stops can make or break the job for you as well as your presalesman or any driver that just left your route. It can be a great job or it can be a nightmare. Good for getting started and working your way up. Staying factor depends on way too many variables.

I'm 19 and I'm currently the grocery department head at Kroger Central in Terre Haute, IN. My crew tends to stock our trademarked brands and many other brands as well. But these merchandisers (we call them vendors) stock their respective products on our shelves. Just like this Coke Vendor, he will stock and replenish all Coca Cola products in the store. But a lot of our vendors are much less motivated and productive. They destroy and take up most of our back room where we unload the trucks. They almost never fill coolers or displays with their products. They tend to use up our skyshelves (where we put extra items that are full on the shelves). And they are more-often-than-not rude and ignorant in their work ethic. So major kudos to this guy. We need more merchandisers like him everywhere!

@andrewd20035 жыл бұрын
I've been driving commercial truck since 2014,and let me tell you I works for coke for a couple years. it was by far the worst driving job i have ever experienced in my career! Coca-Cola pays their drivers on salary which may sounds nice on paper but when they make you work 12-hour days it comes out to about $8 an hour and it's very exhausting very demanding jobs. It's hard on your back they overload your truck and schedule with way too many stops approximately 30 to 40 stops per day. And you're in and out of the truck lumping heavy product all day long ups and down stairs in and out of doors in the heat and you have to deal with gas stations, bars, and businesses, and everybody treats you like crap and expect you to stalk every bottle on the Shelf clean up all your spills and they want you to go above and beyond for them as if you work for them wasting all your time when they know you're on salary pay. The only person in the company that makes good money into owner and a he doesn't do shit except hang out in his air-conditioned office and play with his balls. The higher-ups treat you like crap and they lack maintenance on their trucks. Unless it's an issue that keeps the truck from driving they don't fix it. all the trucks that we had at the plant in Montana did not have radios, air conditioning, had holes in the seats and they were filthy! All that money Coke makes and they don't put any of it back in their truck or take care of their drivers. When I ended my employment at Coke I was the happiest I have ever been in my life and would never think about going back in a million years! This type of job is for new people that get their CDLs or want to earn their CDLs and they don't know anything about Trucking and they think this job is as good as it gets and in a few years they will learn the hard way after they get fired or quit. Pepsi is way better tasting that coke but I hear they're horrible to work for as well. I want to say screw you Coca-Cola quit dumping so much money in your corporate advertisements and start treating your employees better. I would love to see the managers lose their air conditioning in the office when the drivers are the ones that need it they're out in the field sweating there asses lumping your product all day. PS Coke sucks!
@duckie2315 жыл бұрын
I agree somewhat... I only drive for Coca-Cola for 4 months before I started looking for another job. My paychecks were wrong EVERY week. I kept a spreadsheet to calculate my commission and they were always off. After I quit I received several reimbursement checks for their fuck up. I started working as a garbageman for Waste Management and within 2 yrs I got to full scale which is in the mid 30 dollar range. By far better than the 50.00 a day and commission bullshit.

go into a walmart or target or kroger in the early morning i mean like 6 am and many times you will see people stoking shelves that are not in the stores uniform. they are the vendors for the companies. like coke and pepsi, and frito-lay and mike sells. all the bread guys ect. they bring the product in, stock the shelves and put what wont fit up as backstock. then they write an order based on how much backstock they have and the stores sales volume for the next delivery, many times the next day. I worked for frito for a few months and i promise the jobs are much harder than these videos make them seem. and many times with long hours. also the part he kind of skips over in this video is just getting into receiving. I've stood out in the pouring rain for 30 minutes at 4 am to get into a walmart before. product in boxes getting soaked while i wait. there are certainly route you can get that are easier and days that just go well, but guys with senoirity take them and for every nice day theres usually many bad ones. lol the job gave me more stress than i cared for so i left. more power to this guy he's happy as shit lol.

As a long haul truck driver, all I can say is that this video should be called : " A day of a storage worker of Coca-Cola".

You have to stock it too?! Why isn't that the store's job? Fuuuuuuuck that lol
@jguerra01175 жыл бұрын
I had a job at a store, where we had to stock it ourselves and drivers just dropped it off. I thought I could do that, so I got a job at a beer distributor. First stop we got to, we were stocking shelves. I was pissed.

Worked for Pepsi a few years back. Had to stock the coolers. Sucked. Don't miss that job at all.

Alright now show the true side when the pallets fall over, and gas station attendants asking you to do everything in their store for them. 😂 sweet video though. Was cool to see the different things drivers in other states do.
@Spicyywafflezz5 жыл бұрын
This is common in food industry, people with let's say 10 years of seniority have sweet stops. People like me that are new, better hold on to your jimmiez lil Timmy...
@nvccimvne37443 жыл бұрын
Average drivers got 13-15 stops it's no where near this smooth. It's a wreck the orders sometimes on the pallets are wrong etc. One of the hardest truck jobs out there .
@robsretroreviews55984 жыл бұрын
The job wouldn't be so bad if the store staff actually stocked their own shelves. I'm not about to kill my back and feet...I got my CDL to drive not unload and stock shelves!

Teacher should be payed more but also consider the fact that you into a profession not for the money but because it’s what you like to do.
@joseph36285 жыл бұрын
Jeffrey Muu I don’t think many people strive to be a Coca-Cola driver. Teachers have years of training, while a cocacola driver wouldn’t take much of a degree
