Zach Johnson, the “Millennial Farmer” is a 5th-generation farmer who’s spent his life growing, working, and learning on his family’s farm. His wit and dry sense of humor appeal to children and adults alike. A product of the millennial generation, his appreciation of new technology blends with his old-fashioned work ethic, and he offers a unique ability to deliver his message in a way that resonates with lifelong farmers as well as those with no knowledge of agriculture.
With growing consumer awareness about where their food comes from, Zach has identified the need for an independent voice from the front lines of agriculture. Zach actively promotes agriculture by sharing his day-to-day experiences in the agriculture world while providing farmer-to-farmer education to help facilitate a collaborative conversation between farmers and the public.

You ought to get some extra of those Yankum ropes, and permanently run them from the drawbar mount to a mount on the weight bracket. Then when you get stuck, all you've got to do is unhook the rope from the weight bracket, attach the tow strap to it, and you're pulling from the drawbar. Nice and easy. That's how we run our scraper tractors anyway.

It's great to see your kids wanting to ride with you and driving the tractors.. I might be getting grey whiskers but I still remember my uncle stopping the old Oliver 77 by the farm house. He would leave it in gear so all I had to do was turn the switch and push the starter button with my foot then drive to the milk house and shut it off.. must have been around 8 years old.. and picking rocks they would let me idle across the field steering the Oliver 550... good memories

My grandfather once showed me a picture of my uncle (age 9) driving his 8n Ford with him using a walking plow behind it to plow under snow. Circa 1950, said he could tell where he plowed it under, the corn was darker and taller. I've heard many people around home (North Central Missouri) talk about plowing under snow for the nitrogen, now the modern day fertilizer people will say there is nothing to it. But everyone that told of doing it said you could tell where it was done and wasn't. No other fertilizer and the ears were 2 to 3" longer, the old open pollinated days. A thought of process, find a 3 point "ripper"(we called them chisel), you don't need the weight of the implement to get in the ground. We liked to get in early and light field cultivate a few fields to get them to air and warm up. One field if we took the 28 1/2 ft cultivator in to we'd be stuck, but if you used the 22' three point one we'd never leave a rut.
@pedrogunner9750

Zach, as you’re sitting in the skid steer by your left elbow or over your left should is a red little handle. If you raise the loader all the way in the air you can push that red handle out and it makes a steel rod stick out the side of the skiddy and is a safety stop for the loader mechanism. That way the loader can be all the way in the air, out of the way.

Actually if that is an E model the handle or tab thing might be on the rear right hand side inside the cab as you sit in the seat. Putting the boom up, resting it on that lock out rod is the best and easiest way to service/work on the machine.
