Day 2 in Gyumri and I get to meet the @BirthrightArmenia volunteer Georgie and visit her host family and jobsites to get an insight on her day to day life. Even though she does not speak Armenian, she is learning and adapting to the life, already feeling like home.
Birthright Armenia:
Birthright Armenia provides young Diasporan Armenians the opportunity to connect to their ancestral homeland. Our program participants commit to at least 30 hours of volunteering per week, they're given the opportunity to live with a local host family, improve their Armenian language skills, meet and interact with other participants from around the world, travel on an excursion every weekend and gain knowledge and education about the country and culture through our forums and gatherings.

The atmosphere of the Armenian past is felt in Gyumri and it is really charming .Someone told me earlier that Gyumri is very similar to the city of my ancestors Kars .Perhaps it's true....I can't compare, as I was in Gyumri only once, but never in Kars.Thank you, Patil, for the opportunity to see this city, walk around it, for interesting meetings and a lot of positive impressions 🙂💥💥💥 Everyone knows that Gyumri was severely destroyed by the earthquake of 1988.Are restoration works being carried out there and is anything being done at all to restore the city ?🤔 Thank you in advance for the answer . Sincerely, your subscriber Vanik .

Hi Patil, I just wanted to ask are there Iranians who share family names with Armenians? I recently met an Iranian lady with an almost identical name to yours. Just curious.

I am calling out for help Patil, what is the best way to get to armenia from the states? Specifically california?? Is it best to travel with a one way plane ticket or round trip? What is a reasonable price for Airbnb’s? What should they include, what are the necessities for that perfect price? Is it ideal for a California Armenian girl to travel by herself? I will pay you for your help!! Please thank you 🥺

Hi Emma!! It's so exciting that you're planning a trip to Armenia :) And I am so glad that you joined our community here. Within the next week, I am planning on doing a live Q&A to answer questions specifically related to moving to Armenia or visiting Armenia for a while. Stay tuned for that one, it would be so cool if you can join it live so you get to answer any questions I miss, and if not, I will leave the live up as an episode that could be watched later too :) until then, if you would like to support me or my channel I have a patreon page: www.patreon.com/patiltoutounjian

This might be completely irrelevant but: Gyumri is a lovely town overall. However, I was extorted by two traffic cops in Gyumri last summer for ~$60 in AMD for a fake traffic violation after initially demanding ~$200 (AMD). I was pulled over while riding my moped from Georgia and forced to go to an Ararat Bank ATM to pay a made up "fine" so that they would let me go without arbitrarily arresting me. This eventually led to me getting the US embassy involved and resulted in a long bogus "investigation" with the Armenian Anti-Corruption Committee, etc. I had some interesting conversations with local Armenians and Russian soldiers near the military base in the city regarding the 2015 Gyumri Massacre as well. All in all, it was an eye-opening experience into the current state of affairs in Armenia.

Thanks for not paying the bribe. Sadly, corruption is a deep rooted problem in Armenia and only way to eradicate it is to fight it on personal level.

Why armenia become mono ethnic nation? Why there are many fascists?
@raffiart5121
@raffiart5121 2 жыл бұрын
Armenia is not a mono ethnic country. There are almost 40000 Yezidi citizens of Armenia who live without any problems. They study their language in their schools, paid for by Armenian government. There are also smaller communities of Assyrians and Molokans. In the last decade or so Many Iranians and recently even Russians have moved to Yerevan. Unlike your country where minorities such as Talysh can only dream of teaching their language in public or even private schools, minorities never have that problem in Armenia. I will just ignore the last part of your comments. An Armenian is too noble to stoop to the level of nomads.

Mono ethnicity is how this country has stayed alive for so long, if this country is fascist as you say then why do people come here?
