I’m the guy returning from China. I too was shocked at the cost of the Audi A6 repairs. Unfortunately a few faults showed up following the diagnostics check. I bought the car blind having watched many of your videos concluding that you were a trustworthy guy. I was right and thanks for covering the horrendous bill. Runs like a new ca now. I will buy from you again - if you’ll have me 😃 I highly recommend High Peak Autos as a consequence.

What went wrong with it that cost so much to put right?
@dalearden5690
@dalearden5690 9 ай бұрын
@@maninthestreet01 A lot. Maybe the faults on the engine management system had been cleared by the previous owner, hence the EM light coming on after 50 miles. The repairs included a new DPF pressure sensor, new EGR, new Ad Blue valve and a DPF clean. I used a private garage who are excellent, but they insist on using genuine Audi parts. E.G. a new Ad Blue valve was £543.60! Horrendous Audi prices. I have had company care for 25 years so never had to worry about repair costs. This had led me to believe that I'll buy a Lexus next time, as my experience tells me that the three big German marques aren't that reliable.

I have probably bought about 20 cars from dealers of different sizes over the years. Admittedly some had no problems and I just went on my way but every dealer I have needed to work through issues made it difficult and stressful, some of them just outright refusing to help initially, so nice to see you clearly trying your best to help customers and resolve faults even offering a courtesy vehicle. Great work, wish it was representative of the trade as a whole!

I might have an issue with the dealer I got my golf from over a month ago. They refused to service the car I like it and wanted it so bought it. Got it serviced by VW and they found some issues now I'm trying to get the dealer to sort it out as there'd warranty for 3 months but they are being difficult already. If they don't tread carefully I will take them to a small claims court 😤

Small businesses are a grind and lots of people don't realise it. They believe its great because you're free and get to be your own boss but you get no paid holiday you never truly clock off work, you have accounts and the tax man to contend with if you want to grow you really have to put in lots of hard work. Reality is especially in the early days you're grinding for 80-90 hours a week just to stay above water.

I think you picked the perfect day to film if anyone watching wanted to know what it's really like to run your own business. I recently sold the business I've built over the last 25 years. It has provided me with a good wage and the sale price means I have several mortgage-free houses and enough money to enjoy a comfortable retirement - but god knows I deserve it! I haven't had more than a weeks holiday at any time in 25 years and you never really have a day off. There's always something to deal with! No sick pay, no safety net, people that work for companies or (esp) in the public sector have no f_ idea how stressful it can be. BUT it was all worth it to be my own boss. Nothing beats being in control (so far as you can be) of your own fortune. Good luck, Matt.

 @HighPeakAutos We've got an old 2007 Seat Ibiza 1.9tdi that's been in the family from almost new, it was an ex demo so had about 2,000 miles on the clock. My wife clocked up 172,000 miles then passed it on to me. I ran it for another 40,000 miles and was going to scrap it but inspired by your video's decided to keep it going. I've passed it on to my son who's just passed his test and he loves it. We managed to gather all the old invoices, receipts and old mot's and photo copied them all and put them in clear plastic sleeves in a folder. It has a full service history and even though it's a bit bruised and battered it runs like a dream, It's like a diamond in the rough. Next job is a new cam belt and water pump. Thanks for the inspiration and great content. 😀

I never try to down the price when buying a car from a dealer I usually insist on any reasonably noticeable bodywork damage being done though. When I bought my 2016 Toyota Auris in 2019 it was actually just as cheap at the main dealer because I timed it to perfection, it was March so they wanted to clear stock for the 19 plate cars to go on the forecourt and the new Corolla just came out so they really wanted to shift the Auris models on the forecourt. I said I'll be back in a week with 66% of the money as a deposit and pay the rest on 12 months HP but only if they sorted the front and rear bumper scuffs they agreed straight away, guess its much cheaper and easier for a main dealer to do some bodywork repairs than drop the price £500. After Covid hit I realised just how good of a deal got when car prices went through the roof. My car cost me £9500 with 40k miles at 2.5 years old its now 6.7 years old with 71k miles and its worth £9000 still.

It’s refreshing to see an honest used car dealer. It’s sad , but there are so many unscrupulous dealers. When a customer has a problem they automatically think they are going to have a fight on their hands.

I really enjoyed this Video Matt it was a change to see your actual day to day goings on. Good for people to see that us car dealers are not all out ti rip the public off aswell. We get far too much grief for things that not under our control. Sales are slow at the moment aswell it's hard work.

Matt, i just wanted to tell you're doing a great job, and especially how you do it. Cars are clean, safe, without surprises, and with MOT. That gives me hope in the humanity. I'm really pissed here in the Netherlands plenty of sellers are like "pay extra 250€, you get guaranteed 3 months of MOT and a car wash". And that's ever for a car worth 6-8 grand. And I'm often like "eh? Clean car and MOT? That's what I expect from the car shop (not a person selling the car)"

People forget that dealing with public as your daily job is hugely tiring and challenging! Should be a mandatory part of life for everyone to work in a retail job for a few months. It makes for great training on how tough life can be.

You should do a 'should you buy' video with the Astra.A car a lot people consider when looking at a well specced car for a decent price.Some people don't seem to understand something will go wrong on an older car , no matter how well it's been maintained. They should be grateful that you the one footing the bill. Love the videos!

As someone who just sold a problem car through auction only to have to buyer not pay, it’s actually a bit easier to see that I’m not the only one to go through the doldrums from time to time. Better luck tomorrow for both of us, thanks mate.

Fully appreciate this video, feel your pain in so many ways. Dealing with Joe public can be a absolute breeze, but also one of the greatest challenges! You always get one, that has an issue, you try your hardest to resolve it, amicably, and they still keeping going, with that axe to grind!

Everybody who goes to buy a new used car should watch this video first, one to see how much it cost to bring a car back to resale condition and two to communicate properly with the dealer if there is a problem after the sale, it’s a used car Matt does everything that needs doing but he can’t fix what isn’t broken. Great video Matt keep it coming.

Then you’ve got to keep the price low enough to make it attractive and give more for their part exchange than somebody else offered then offer a better finance rate than they’ve been offered and then hope it doesn’t break for the first 3 months or they’ll stamp their feet and quote the consumer rights act 😭

@@HighPeakAutos i feel for you Matt I maintained my taxi meticulously for 5 years and kept a file with mileage and cost for all work done, it was eye watering and then I see your excellent videos and begin to wonder how many people must simply change their car when something goes wrong and pass the problem to you 😏

Been watching your videos from Northern Ireland for a while now, your honesty will go a long way towards success! I'm always impressed by your thorough servicing and presentation of your stock. I just bought a little Kia Rio as a runaround with very mileage only find the air con was buggered (yet had promised to regas it). Fair enough, the problem was fixed at their expense but then it was found that the alternator belt was down to the wire and needing replaced (it was 'serviced' before selling!) An honest seller will always attract my repeat business Matt so keep it going!!!

As the saying goes, 'Nothing is Easy'. Doing nothing is easy, while taking on the daily challenges can be one headache after another. The latter having better rewards for the effort. The daily walk with your personal trainer and motivator helps to keep everything in check. Keep going...

A friend of mine bought a 2020 Ford Ranger, which developed a noise when turning. He took it back to the dealer, who initially didn't want to know. If he had bought this from you, who offered to sort it and potentially issue a courtesy car, it would have been a non issue. Your overall success and efforts are a result of what service you give. Its great to see.

I don't know how you do it Matt, I've never understood the mentality of buying an older car and expecting it to feel new, it's how things are dealt with when you have a problem that shows a person's true character. You have more patience than me, I detest rude, shouty people, it solves nothing!
