I’m the guy returning from China. I too was shocked at the cost of the Audi A6 repairs. Unfortunately a few faults showed up following the diagnostics check. I bought the car blind having watched many of your videos concluding that you were a trustworthy guy. I was right and thanks for covering the horrendous bill. Runs like a new ca now. I will buy from you again - if you’ll have me 😃 I highly recommend High Peak Autos as a consequence.

What went wrong with it that cost so much to put right?
@dalearden56909 ай бұрын
@@maninthestreet01 A lot. Maybe the faults on the engine management system had been cleared by the previous owner, hence the EM light coming on after 50 miles. The repairs included a new DPF pressure sensor, new EGR, new Ad Blue valve and a DPF clean. I used a private garage who are excellent, but they insist on using genuine Audi parts. E.G. a new Ad Blue valve was £543.60! Horrendous Audi prices. I have had company care for 25 years so never had to worry about repair costs. This had led me to believe that I'll buy a Lexus next time, as my experience tells me that the three big German marques aren't that reliable.

It has provided me with a good wage and the sale price means I have several mortgage-free houses and enough money to enjoy a comfortable retirement - but god knows I deserve it! I haven't had more than a weeks holiday at any time in 25 years and you never really have a day off. There's always something to deal with! No sick pay, no safety net, people that work for companies or (esp) in the public sector have no f_ idea how stressful it can be. BUT it was all worth it to be my own boss. Nothing beats being in control (so far as you can be) of your own fortune. Good luck, Matt.

My wife clocked up 172,000 miles then passed it on to me. I ran it for another 40,000 miles and was going to scrap it but inspired by your video's decided to keep it going. I've passed it on to my son who's just passed his test and he loves it. We managed to gather all the old invoices, receipts and old mot's and photo copied them all and put them in clear plastic sleeves in a folder. It has a full service history and even though it's a bit bruised and battered it runs like a dream, It's like a diamond in the rough. Next job is a new cam belt and water pump. I never try to down the price when buying a car from a dealer I usually insist on any reasonably noticeable bodywork damage being done though. When I bought my 2016 Toyota Auris in 2019 it was actually just as cheap at the main dealer because I timed it to perfection, it was March so they wanted to clear stock for the 19 plate cars to go on the forecourt and the new Corolla just came out so they really wanted to shift the Auris models on the forecourt. I said I'll be back in a week with 66% of the money as a deposit and pay the rest on 12 months HP but only if they sorted the front and rear bumper scuffs they agreed straight away, guess its much cheaper and easier for a main dealer to do some bodywork repairs than drop the price £500. After Covid hit I realised just how good of a deal got when car prices went through the roof. My car cost me £9500 with 40k miles at 2.5 years old its now 6.7 years old with 71k miles and its worth £9000 still.

Been watching your videos from Northern Ireland for a while now, your honesty will go a long way towards success! I'm always impressed by your thorough servicing and presentation of your stock. I just bought a little Kia Rio as a runaround with very mileage only find the air con was buggered (yet had promised to regas it). Fair enough, the problem was fixed at their expense but then it was found that the alternator belt was down to the wire and needing replaced (it was 'serviced' before selling!) An honest seller will always attract my repeat business Matt so keep it going!!!

As the saying goes, 'Nothing is Easy'. Doing nothing is easy, while taking on the daily challenges can be one headache after another. The latter having better rewards for the effort. The daily walk with your personal trainer and motivator helps to keep everything in check. Keep going...

There are no easy ways to make a living, as you say, but you have the right attitude, and hopefully get more good days than bad. All the best for Christmas. Love the dog, they can be a real stress reliever.

A friend of mine bought a 2020 Ford Ranger, which developed a noise when turning. He took it back to the dealer, who initially didn't want to know. If he had bought this from you, who offered to sort it and potentially issue a courtesy car, it would have been a non issue. Your overall success and efforts are a result of what service you give. Its great to see.

I’d have fixed it. I don’t like to hear about things like that

I love the honesty in your videos, especially the behind the scenes ones like these. I have a guitar shop and can relate to the same frustrations with customers and stock.

Great video, would love to see more of this as a weekly series or something. Maybe even including a tour of the garage would be a nice addition. 👍

I don't know how you do it Matt, I've never understood the mentality of buying an older car and expecting it to feel new, it's how things are dealt with when you have a problem that shows a person's true character. You have more patience than me, I detest rude, shouty people, it solves nothing!

Great video! I have my own social work channel and I was amazed people wanted to see me do paperwork. Your right about stresses. Every job has some. I am self employed like you and it’s difficult to get paid at the moment. But we soldier on. Another good video. Love that jag and that Skoda looks fab. 😊😊😊😊

The great thing about having your own business is that every penny you take goes straight into your pocket!!!!! At least that’s what a lot of customers think. Keep at it Matt .

Your bright eyes & enthusiasm in the morning compared to evening… This is why god made pubs. Go and have a pint with friends, have a laugh, forget about your day- start again tomorrow.

I do relate to your job,as I work for a garage as a trade plate Driver - some cars that you expect to sell don't,no rhyme or reason,the customers who moan
