Sorry but I disagree. The change of scenery for sure but not necessarily the work.

Hey! I Appreciate they hire seasonal work but do you know if they would be open to joining half way through the season for 1-2 months?

How many months did you work is it seasonal? Do you have to pay for the accommodations was it shared dorm style? Thanks for sharing

I worked roughly four months as a seasonal! Yes you pay for accommodation but it is super cheap compared to other living options in Banff! You can live alone in a single room or in a shared room with a roommate(s) :)

Cool vid ! I’ve recently been offered a job at the Banff Springs hotel (grounds keeper position) Do you have any friends that do this type of work or can tell me more about what to expect in regards to that position at the Banff springs ? I’d be relocating all the way from Ontario , away from family and friends . Also wondering how it would be working outdoors in the winter , walking to work in the cold , how other people like the job …..that sort of thing . Would I need a car , could I bike/scooter everywhere . So many questions lol.

I'm applying as well, so don't have any "Experience" specific to the Hotel, but I've checked out a lot of the info online and am an Alberta resident... Generally outdoor work in the Winter sucks, but is bearable. Make some investments into decent Clothing, Plan for multiple Layers (Make sure your boots are comfortable with 2 Layers of Socks), there might be a "Uniform" that you'll need to work around, but this is a long standing resort and I can't imagine it's restrictive enough that you'll be in danger. Hat and Gloves are probably the most important, you can always deal with Body/Legs through Layers, Boots would be a close Third place... Probably best to pick up stuff before you leave a big city, but if you need to do that see if you can talk to someone about what the "Uniform" is so you don't buy something unnecessary or that you can't wear. Google Map "Fairmont Banff" and you can see where the Employee housing is, relative to the Hotel (it's close). The nearest (large) town is Calgary and that is an Hour (ish) drive each way, which might be the only reasons for needing a Car (although I imagine there are people you could Car Pool with, if "Going to Town" is a thing). Depending on how often you might do that Trip, it might even work out to be cheaper to Rent a Car for the day. It might even be cheaper/easier to "Online Shop" stuff and have it delivered.

Hi! Thanks for reaching out! Congrats on your new job at the Springs! From my knowledge of your new position as a grounds keeper, you get to enjoy stunning views all day long and stay active outdoors while maintaining the Banff Springs grounds! Working outdoors in the winter requires warm clothing, therefore ensure you pack several layers! We have staff housing here at the Springs so the walk to work is max 2-3 minutes! This is the great perk of staff housing so you don't have to worry about walking outside in the cold for a long period of time. Banff offers the Roam bus which provides transportation anywhere in Banff, to Canmore and also to Lake Louise + a few other locations, so there is no need for a car here! As an employee at the Banff Springs you get free transportation to any location in Banff! Biking is also a great way of transportation in Banff, in the winter I personally still walk everywhere here! I hope this helps with answering some of your questions, please don't hesitate to ask more! Good luck with your new position!

@@lokithecat7225 Yes, many of our colleagues make trips to Calgary often so car pooling is definitely an option! Sometimes I prefer to online shop because it is super easy - everything gets delivered right to staff housing :)

Staff turns over seasonally in banff. They start looking to fill positions for ski season in oct, summer they'll start looking in jan. If you're looking at the height of the busy seasons they sometimes are full up on staff. Like Jodi said, try again. Odds are you applied at a bad time.

When I lived in Banff, I believe in general we were forbidden to use the dining and bar facilities at the Banff Springs. And IDK about you but I was glad to go into Calgary from time to time-needed a change of scenery. And owning a car was not an option. You seem to forget that most peeps who worked there are seasonal staff so who would bother with a car much less afford one? No I took public transportation to and from Calgary or to Lake Louise and I also hitched. Banff is an awesome place to have a summer job but please don't paint working and living in Banff as a bed of roses because it isn't. The jobs I had were entry level and difficult (Houseman and Dishwasher) and hence I didn't get the experience working in a hotel as I would have liked. I feel your video therefore is one sidded.

Bro chill. This is just a day in life of what we go through... I'm one of the Cooks at the Fairmont and honestly, this is as professional as it gets for job wise. Don't have to enjoy it but if you get used to it, it can be quite fun and an amazing place to live. Please do not turn the opinions on your perspectives... no one cares 😆 keep your snarky comments to yourself😌 Keep up the good vids Jodi🔥🔥

They offer locals discounts at the BSH in most places. So that's not really true. Probably they don't want staff drinking at the bar in their uniform but that's a given. FYI years ago, probably 20 years ago they let all locals eat at the staff buffet, price was a couple of bucks if you weren't staff plus grat. Sadly a couple of arseholes ruined it for everyone and now it's staff only. Fairmont is expensive but they legit look after their staff in banff, jasper and LL. The staff buffet is still open to locals at the JPL as far as I know (unless an idiot screwed it up, I haven't been up there since covid) and the chateau lake louise in the staff accom has a neat staff only bar that serves killer food, big 12 inch pizza for less than $10 open to all locals (again, unless an idiot screwed it up, haven't been since covid). I've never worked there, but it's well known that BSH and the Rimrock are two of the best places to have a legit long term job in banff. It's not an easy place to live, wages aren't that great, and rent is higher than TO and good luck finding anything. But advantages are a legit walkable city which is unheard of in Canada and beautiful scenery.
