Same here but I'd be anxious that I already miss the train, I look weird just standing there, watching the clock, checking all instructions to make sure I knew the train I was about to board is really going where I want to go, nervous about missing the other trains, and doing ANYTHING to preoccupy my boredom when I was reassured that everything I can do or remember has been done or put in my notes to remember (knowing I forgot or will gorget something anyway but I need a breather for mental health). ANYTHING (by priority): Talk to my travel companion; talk to random stranger who just happens to connect with me or I connect with conversationally; dread random stranger who is talking to me but I'm not interested in and am looking for a polite way out; my phone (when charged and nobody's talking to me); pictures and surroundings; thinking of what if scenerios; listening to my favorite songs via memory; trying to get annoying earworm songs out of my head; counting ANYTHING; Math problems based on what I see in my environment; math problems that I think of randomly. The ANYTHING is combined with making sure I get on the right train/bus and sometimes breathing exercises (hearing and feeling my breathing in and out while while considering air quality).

Yes, if anyone can figure out which way Google maps is pointing, please let us know. It drives me nuts when it says "Turn south and walk along X street" and you know you're going to be going round and round like an excited spaniel trying to figure out which way South is and which way that damn arrow is pointing....
@peterclarke72402 ай бұрын
When you first open it, Google maps is always aligned North. So "up" is always north. It only becomes a problem if you then try to move in or out and accidentally rotate the map, which I do on an alarmingly frequent basis. The frustrating thing is that there IS a compass, but it's only visible when you go to street view, which eats far more energy and data (or at least, I feel it should...) Honestly, I've just taken to attaching a little compass to the shoulder strap of my backpack. It's just easier. Yes, I look like a bit of a dork, but I'm a dork who always knows which way is North. Unless I forget my backpack...

If it's sunny outside you can use the sun to figure out where South is!
@perozu3289Ай бұрын
(Wanted to write more but KZbin is being weird) The sun is east in the morning, south (northern hemisphere) or north (southern hemisphere) at noon and west in the evening. Of course that only works if it's daytime and you can tell where the sun is 😅 I also try to look at the angles of the streets and see where the shops around me are on the map to get an idea of which way I'm facing!

Um, I have a post it taped on my front door that says: Do you have… - Keys - Phone - Charger - Wallet If not turn around! I later added shoes! I kept getting locked out of the flat with only my phone, wallet, car keys, and a battery pack… with no shoes! We now keep a spare key at my mother in laws place which is about 12 miles away. However, I have hyper sensitivity to touch on the soles of my feet, so I mostly end up at the train station waiting for my husband to get home. Also, I now keep a pair of trail runners in the car and a pair of socks. Took me 20 years to learn this, because here where I live now, if the door shuts you’re locked out!

i would REALLY appreciate an answer, i am in the middle of a full diagnosis not in the UK but i am moving to the uk, how easily are medications or help at workplaces acessible? thank you so much for your answer
@a_9212 ай бұрын
I doubt the workplace will help much (but I've only worked at one place in the UK, could differ). My place was the negative stereotype of the US workplace (obey, shut up, do as told, ask no questions, work 200 %). I think sorting out meds should be easy though. I got a GP, free prescribed meds (same type as I had where I moved from), doctors appointment etc easily, within the first week I think (but I am not on ADHD meds, so can't say specifically about that)

Not all people with ADHD are completely dysfunctional for example if I'm anxious or worried about something I'm extremely focused to where I'm never late (not doing anything 10 mins before I have to leave for something important is very accurate as I need to be focused on the time if I do anything else the time goes by and im late) and can handle anything in a crisis when I have adrenaline. Its the moments between where I don't have any anxiety at all where I fail to find drive to do anything and can't focus at all on mundane tasks.
