Hey Arne and Carlos, I just wanted to write a quick note to let you know that one of your biggest fans and pattern purchasers(my mom) passed away on June 9th. She watched all of your videos and on occasion we watched some of your videos together, during her last days in hospice we rewatched your Dolly Parton cake making video. I just wanted to thank you for being yourselves and providing her comfort through your videos, She loved you guys a lot. Thanks again, Terri

Fun! One moment that had me giggling (okay, there were a few giggle-worthy moments). Carlos didn’t want the broken chocolate bar, and Arne tossing that same chocolate bar into the bag, and later needing to pack down the groceries in the bag to make more room. So, inquiring minds want to know … did Carlos’ chocolate bar make it home in one piece? lol Thanks for the fun episode. Stay well everyone!

Isn't it a bit propaganda-like, how we are told plastic shopping bags are bad for the environment but almost everything that comes packaged in a store is in plastic? I mean, yes! Plastic really is bad for the environment, but if we were worried, wouldn't we demand corporations find an alternative to all their plastic packaging?

I wish that some of them would change their packaging. The plastic net bags that oranges come in look like something that would be pretty dangerous for fish, if they get in the water. I've been keeping the net part of the bags to to use inside something, like a blanket but it would be easier if they would just change their packaging.
@llt8101
@llt8101 10 күн бұрын
I reused every plastic bag that came into my house because they were free. Now, in my part of Canada (BC) we don't get any of those plastic shopping bags anymore because they are illegal, so I have to buy kitchen catchers. I used to just have to buy the big garbage bags. If everyone else had been reusing those bags too then maybe they would have noticed that actually they do break down over time. This whole thing about plastic shopping bags not breaking down is a myth. I used some to store things in and I kept having to replace them because they were breaking down.

I’m very curious to see about the Lefse, as I always make my own every year at the holidays….. we Americans probably don’t eat it the same way, but it’s so tasty! I’m laughing about the pizza, as it seems to be favored the world over. Oh I LOVE my tube delicacies! Sadly I have to find an IKEA or order them from Amazon to find the ones I like. I’m right with Carlos on then caviar….. the BEST way to eat it! Love my Gjetoast….. I’ve eaten it my entire life due to. “Cow” allergy! What no cloudberries?

I love the pant machine, so good to see people that recycle and take seriously! Great of Norway not to sale or use plastic bags is wonderful. I hope people appreciate and learn how much Norway is doing and maybe make changes in America. Unfortunately USA still uses mass plastic grocery bags, and is so far behind on recycling. It's nice to see countries that do so good. At least make & use a cloth grocery bag, all the seamstresses & knitters, crocheters, need to make sure and use their shopping bags not plastic. Great fun to see the typical Norway shops, how beautiful and the products. Thank you, enjoy your show.

It was so fun to shop with you guys! Arne, my dad used to break up regular white bread and put it in a glass of what we call Buttermilk here and he ate it with a spoon. Our buttermilk has a sour taste, so is likely very similar or the same as yours in Norway. I remember it might have been an acquired taste, but really quite yummy. 😋 I have one brother who still carries on that tradition. 😌 I got my very first reusable grocery bag in Norway - that was in about 2007 or 2008. It's my absolutely favourite fabric bag (strong, quality fabric that's also very soft). I now use it to carry precious knitting projects in when I take something out to work on. It also holds my yarn beside me on the couch while I knit on something at home.🥰

The chocolate bears sound like the chocolate covered marshmallow Easter "eggs" we have in the U.S.

Hi Arne and Carlos - This excursion to the supermarket was fun and interesting. I found it interesting that you presented liver paté as something specific to Norway and yet I grew up with having that type of paté at Easter and Christmas here in Canada and we did the butter, sugar and cinnamon on bread. But we did not have the bread that you need to soak so that item is new to me. That said, much of the other products are new to me and I thank you for sharing them with us.

Thanks! A few things made this American's head explode: sour cream porridge!! Sour milk (is this yogurt?). Caviar in a tube! Wow, you've expanded our horizons in a delightful way. 🤩

Only just found your page. I live in Australia but was born in Sweden and my dad is from Norway. My husband and I spent time in Sweden and Norway last year. We spent some time near Trondheim and also Oslo. I gren up in Trollhättan in sweden. Love seeing all this food that I remember eating growing up. Flat bread is my favourite and miss it as we can’t get it here anymore

What fun to go to the supermarket with you both! It's so interesting to see all the goodies that are different than what we have in Southern California. I don't think I've seen such a huge selection of frozen pizzas, but then again, there are at least 3 or 4 pizza restaurants within a 2 to 5 minute drive from my house! And all the food in tubes - I think I would try the cheese & bacon one first. 😁

Here in MIchigan (US) we have bottle returns like the one in your store. We pay 10 cents a bottle or can which we get back when we recycle. We get a slip with the return amount which we can use to reduce our bill when we pay, or can redeem for cash. Schools and nonprofits collect cans and bottles to raise funds for their activities. And my husband and I love liver pate. We enjoyed your trip to get groceries.

I tried Brunost before I visited Norway and loved it. A local grocery store in Indiana had carried it. Last time I went to look for it they no longer do. I might have drive an hour to Indianapolis, according to Tine’s website there are a few stores there that carry them.
