We hope you are still enjoying your Easter Break! 🐣 We are at the thrift store and who knows what treasures we will find this time. There are two thrifts stores in our town, they are under the same ownership but for those of you who did not catch our trip to the other trifth store you can watch it here:
• Thrift Store Visit in ...
In the last store we were looking for the dead old lady's origins, but today we are searching for items for our house and for work. These two stores are pretty close. As you all remember this is the day Carlos got really into thrifting and we find old knitwear and other treasures while thrifting. We are very lucky to have two thrift stores so close by here in Norway.
We also did some thrift store shopping for Christmas which you can watch here:
• Thrift Shopping for Ch...
Stay until the end to watch some beautiful pictures of the shop and to see how many we thrift store finds we end up with!
Enjoy your Easter Break!

Your channel inspired me to look for local yarn stores and thrift shops when I travel. I had a 24 hour layover in Finland, and I was able to get some beautiful Finnish yarn and a secondhand sweater to remember my visit. Thank you for the inspiration! :)

For Arne: votives are the little candles that fit in the holder you held up-about maybe 5cm high. Tea lights are those tiny candles in a flattish tin mold that fit into those shallower holders such as warmers under teapots. Gentlemen: grab those nice teapots to use as multifunction yarn bowls/yarn dispensers!

Thank you for that suggestion. I had never thought about a tea pot as a yarn bowl. It would work perfect.

Love thrift shopping! In the first store I noticed what might be a spinning wheel, and it was there the last time you made a video at that store. Three of my favorite spinning wheels were found (rescued I like to think) from thrift stores. Maybe when you go back you could check it out? That’s another textile craft I’m sure you’d enjoy. 😊

The thrift stores here always look like a junk store. They are very rarely organized & many look like a tornado wen through them. I used to try to get leftover yarn, but all that is kept for online auctions... Most are not worth the price PLUS a hefty shipping fee. So 😥 sad...I love all the beautiful textiles there

"Is it a poodle?" "No." "Then I don´t need it." 😂"Black belt in shopping."🤣"But we never buy things we don´t need. We buy things we think we need." 😆 I used to read Nancy Drew when I was a kid. I absolutely loved those books. Somewhere along the line, the books got lost. About 15 years ago, I decided to buy some at Amazon (before I knew how horribly they treat their staff, I don´t buy from them now!). I read one, and I was disappointed, it wasn´t very good. But Arne said in another episode that some of them are bad and some are good. I will give the other four books a chance, they are just standing there in my book shelf. So funny that Arne loves those books too. You get high just looking at the covers.

Had no idea Nancy Drew had been translated into Norwegian! Or are those in English? I too have collected them. My frugal, Norwegian-American mother gave away all my oiriginal books, many which I had bought for $1.00 witrh my saved up allowance. I replaced some with far more expensive copies decades later. Funny how attached we remain to things that remind us of our childhood!

I hope you have had a Happy Easter all of you, Arne & Carlos and the Crew. You said what caught my eye (I thrift shop often here in Brittany, France and go to Vide Greniers). I often buy unfinished embroideries and finish them or make bags from the tapestries. My eye was caught by the embroideries and textiles and as a spinner of wool I just loved the look of the spinning wheel in the shop, it would be marvellous for fine spinning of my sheeps wool. It was a lovely break to watch you whilst having a cup of tea. Keep well.

I love the blue and white ceramic pieces. Very pretty. But I'm in a stage of life I call "Admire, not acquire" or as my Auntie used to say: "Is it need or greed". My needs are actually few, so I tend not to shop. When I do though, I enjoy a good thrift shop. Recycling is better, especially when it benefits a good cause. When I go, I take hats I've knitted - we're at such an altitude here in the desert that people who come from downhill, need hats to keep warm at night, so I donate those - get my stash used up and practice Norwegian purling - your lessons are sinking in even for this old person.
