Today, a male Belgian Malinois tried to have his way with my Husky, Neveah, but her lifelong mate Winston stopped him without fighting.
This channel exists in order to educate people about dog behavior at dog parks. This particular video can help dog owners see what they can do to prevent violence at dog parks.

I loved seeing Winston protect Neveah! // Just looking at this footage as someone who was not actually there, it seems like Winston was doing his best to keep his energy - and the situation - in check. Even when he fell over and the Belgian got one paw on him, Winston appeared to still be in, shall we say, high alert but not in high gear. Had you not been there to tap the Belgian and defuse the situation, Winston would have thrown it into high gear and the Belgian would have been toast.

Considering the corso mix is an old neutered dog, I would be surprised. Again, the behavior from the mal wasn’t good, poor obedience training. This is my biggest problem with a dog park, lack of management from owners, had this exact situation happen between my female pit and a 140 lb great dane, he absolutely would not stop trying to mount her, and she was giving me that if you don’t deal with it I will look. Owner didn’t come over until I finally had to give the dog a swift push with my knee, it was literally trying to bypass me to get to my dog because it had no respect for humans. The dog let out a tiny yelp and the owner came and got him trying to explain to me how he is just playing. I just told the guy he needs to manage the dogs interactions better and that I wasn’t trying to hurt him, but with a 140 vs 65 lb dog I needed to set the rules and end the path to a potential real fight. I could see the look in my dogs face the whole time, she was begging me to step in so she wouldn’t have to sort it out.

YES YES YES WINSTON'S PAPA, 'if you wont teach your dog no, ill teach them to back up.' yessir! PERFECT correction, you let them work out their 'dog talk' and when that new male didn't understand manners, you corrected PERFECTLY. Too many people don't understand the boundaries of 'dog-talk' and could have caused their male dog to react aggro instead of guard. Such a great job papa and Winston, and the little lady too for being so uncomfortable but mannered. I wish the ones my boy and I met were more like your pack. My boy is service/working, so 'release' time is hugely cathartic for us both, and I know he'd love such a structured bigger-dog pack like your park keeps. So far hes the hound amongst small-dogs lmao. edit: imma go ahead and edit this to explain real quick I live in a rural part of Alabama where I not only have to explain ada service dog regulations because person(s) bring non-service, emotional support, or therapy animals with NO training into non-pet locations, but also an area where - very, very sadly, as growing up with and training guard breeds, I firmly believe in 'no bad dogs, only bad owners/trainers' - many people get GSDs, Labs, Rotts, Dobies, and pits/american staffies/mixes, and do not train them while sporting them around with spikey leather collars and service dogs vests bought online or fake "registrations"[they're illegal in the USA, america does NOT have a 'registration of service animals,' all non canine or mini-horse animals are invalid according to the ada as well.] All registrations* within the us* are fake. Microchip your animals. * Some countries may vary, please do your research before owning ANY pet, let alone an animal you intend to do service training with, paid, in home, or any other kind. Edit2; I keep aquariums also so tbh also do your research on fish and plants. You'd probably be surprised at what we keep in our tanks that your state might consider an invasive issue. Just research everything. Learning is good for you.

@@jt1364 well I mean when the dog is literally biting the other dogs face that dog should be separated for Winston safety. What happens when Winston does that to the wrong dog and he gets severely injured or worse. I train dogs for a living and I can tell you I have the same mindset as you until something bad happened. I used to think well my dog will never push another dog and if they did push them too far my dogs would win anyways. That was years and years ago when I was very childish and did not use my head. Both dogs ended up ripping into each other and it ended with multiple wounds and flesh all over the place I’m glad to say I have learned from my mistakes

Some people may not know how amazing it is that your dog knows how far to go and how far not to go. Pitbulls tend to be finishers. This is an absolute amazing example of a dog standing up for its friend and being obediente to its handler and also having an amazing amount of trust in the handler to handle the situation to where he doesn't have to go too far. Absolutely amazing!

You handled that well. Winston was brave but looked a bit tired and stressed afterwards - I'm sure he got a cuddle afterwards. I thought the malinois was a pup when I 1st saw it, with what I call "daft ears" (when young dogs can't control their ears) but it had a grey chin and looked bit rickety in the legs - frisky old dude. I'm glad it didn't escalate. I expect nothing less from wonderful Winnie but you never know how the other dog will behave ..especially as his owner was no help.

I think that unspoken connection that you have with Winston means that he KNOWS you will always advocate in his best interests and ALWAYS have his back 🤜🤛. Winston was sublime in his restraint and I'm tempted to think that it wasn't just youthful exuberance on the Malinois' part because Neveah didn't encourage any type of play whatsoever and left it up to her boys to deal with ol' big ears 🤨. Hope the 3 of you and all your loved ones have a wonderful, safe and peaceful Christmas 🎅🤶🧑‍🎄. Take care xx

I feel sorry for the Mali - they are extremely high-drive (but beautiful) dogs and shouldn't off wandering around unsupervised. I like Winston,he stood up in defense to offense for his friend right away. Plus he is obedient to his owner, that's what makes me believe that owner let things go to the point it got, knowing he could've stop it in a sec.

When I was about 10 years old I was living in a very rural part of Oklahoma. Lots of people would just let their dogs roam around outside. We were too poor to own a dog so I loved playing with all these loose dogs, one of which was a male dachshund named Oscar. One day while walking to the lake with Oscar a big beautiful female German Shepherd came out of nowhere. Oscar immediately fell in love with her and she followed us back from the lake. What I didn't realize was she was in heat. That night the German Shepherd ended up outside my bedroom window. All of the local male dogs showed up wanting to breed her. No lie there was a good 6-8 males of all different breeds; a boxer, a schnauzer, a chow, a black lab and several mutts. They all wanted some. But Oscar was having none of it. All night that little dog fought his heart out, taking on all comers despite being outsized. I didn't get much sleep because of all the noise. My family and I went out there several times trying to break it up, trying to shoo the dogs off, we even threw water on them. But they would just go right back to screwing and scrapping. The next morning we found Oscar torn up but still alive. That afternoon the German Shepherd's owner came looking for her and took her home. Maybe six months later I was walking by the lake again and saw her in her yard with a litter of pups. We didn't need Maury to confirm Oscar was the father, you could tell just by looking at them. That brave, horny little weiner dog had done his job. The end.

After she gets all of her shots, just bring her in and she will meet all kinds of dogs and socialize. But you have to be her bodyguard.

@@GumbysImperialMedia no I never seen 10 min. go by without a lock jaw in the first 5 min. Maybe pitbulls are different but I have broken up my uncles pitts countless times. they try to kill each other it never took 10 or 20 minutes for them to lockjaw. water doesn't work or hitting them with a object doesn't separate them until one dog or the other gets tired then let's go. Poking the eyes works.

@@GumbysImperialMedia necessary doesn't happen if nobody stops them. Also I'm not at a dog park watching my dog constantly which is required whereas in the country you let your dogs run outside free n use the bathroom.

@@GumbysImperialMedia lol your asking me why I'm not watching my uncles dog run around and use the bathroom on his gated property in the country😂🤣 it doesn't apply to people who live in the country. I'm not at a dog park. The times when the pitbulls did fight its because someone either didn't know the other dog was still outside or the Door was left open.

I own 2 shepherd both males one is a German shepherd and the other a Belgian malinois both intact no problems at all together but I would never take them to a dog park where they can walk free with other dogs because I know the temper both breeds have and especially a Belgian malinois . They can go from playing to serious in just a blink and over here in Belgium from what I’ve seen you can’t compare them to the ones around other countries. They are freakin vicious over here and don’t back off . They tend to take the fight or challenge in such situations. They ain’t dogs for dog parks and knowing majority of people ain’t able to control and understand them is just dangerous to other dogs and people .

I actually have a German Shepherd/Belgian Malinois but he 6 months old. If that were to happen to my dog Milli her siblings would probably fight the dog. My Black Labrador Retriever once did that to my German Shepherd/Belgian Malinois which is a male. Winston and Neveah look like good dogs❤🐕🐶

When a female is next to two dominant males, there is usually a serious conflict to determine who is more dominant. Malino is excited but not aggressive, if he was, a fight would start immediately.I have KBT, he was socialized from an early age, he played in the park with the dogs, at the age of 1.5 he started trying to dominate other males. In the end, it became very hard to go and prevent him from showing dominance - putting his head above another male, paws, etc... so I started walking him alone and let him play only with females.
