@@pifko87 you're better off reporting to DVLA directly than the police. After all, the police only forward it to them anyway and the DVLA are more likely to take action. It's very hard to get dangerous or careless driving a criminal conviction against a driver, it almost always ends up penalty points which the DVLA issue. In some cases the DVLA will revoke a drivers license which is something courts are more lenient on anyway

No he isn't..... the driver should have allowed him to cycle past before completing his manouvre... would the instructor have made the manouvre if it had been a person driving a car, or would he have waited? The cyclist didn't need to confront the driver in the way he did but the cyclist is not part of any problem. @@edwardhuggins84 The vast majority of the problems on the roads are people driving cars badly and dangeously, not cyclists. They cause thousands of deaths, tens of thousands of life altering injuries, billions of pounds of damage to vehicles and property and roads, pollution, travel chaos and delays. There are bad cyclists, absolutely, but not nearly on the scale of bad motor vehicle drivers and with nowhere near the same level of devastating consequences. Cyclists don't believe they have "more rights", they believe they have the same rights as other road users - which they do - but need greater consideration and care from motor vehicle drivers, as borne out in the Highway Code. And I personally am not one of those people who believe that cyclists can do no wrong. You're quite wrong to make that assumption. The cyclist here should not have confronted the driver in the way he did, as I have already said, but it's quite wrong to exaggerate the situation by claiming how bad cyclists are. It's fine to analyse and criticise individual examples of poor cycling and poor driving, as has been done here, but not to exaggerate the problem to the detriment of all cyclists.

@@ethelmini Because all road users need to react safely to what is happening in front of them. The cyclist could clearly see the car was is the middle of the road as was turning around. The cyclist did not slow down and did not stay to the left of the road, therefore creating an issue that would have been avoided if he had just eased his speed and stayed to the left. This is deliberately causing a situation by failing to react to the road conditions. This is the responsibility of all, not just drivers of motor vehicles. The cyclist also failed to slow for oncoming traffic which was already passing parked cars, again failing to react to the road conditions ahead. I say it again, it is everybody’s responsibility to judge the road ahead and give yourself time to react, this was clearly not the case. If the cyclist was in a car, would he have just carried on at that speed or slowed down? He would of slowed down, so he should apply the same rules when riding a bike.

@@ethelmini I actually think they did create this situation. Why did they turn around at that strange point on the hill? It's not even the top and is on a bend. Is this a road that driving instructors use for three point turns regularly? Could well be. Maybe on the way up they noticed the driving school car and turned around anticipating the three point turn. Could also be the reason they didn't stop when confronted with oncoming traffic that failed to give way at the parked cars.

Based on the way he said "Why did you PULL OUT in front of me", I don't think he even noticed the instructor stop, reverse and turn. He just saw a vehicle in front of a driveway and assumed the vehicle had exited it. When he got home he probably looked at the video, realised his mistake, and modified his justification to suit. Beyond that, his entire mindset appears to be "I like cycling along and don't tolerate anybody impeding my progress" regardless of prevailing circumstances on the road. It's a residential area and, with the best will in the world, there ARE likely to vehicles parking, moving in and out of driveways, stopping to drop off passengers or otherwise impeding traffic flow. It's simply not a suitable area for any kind of "spirited" riding.

Thanks for highlighting this, Ashley. There are too many deluded people today fitted with cameras, feel entitled, and looking for KZbin content. I have to admit that I've been on a bicycle in Stoke on Trent ever since my first day at primary school in 1969, and to college in 1980, and my first job in 1982. I've never seeked confrontation and treated all road-users as equal, meaning that I've never had an accident in over 50 years. The problems arose about 10 years ago when cameras, helmets, and lycra became the uniform of the 'modern' cyclist. I've only had 'Shit' of these people and I hate it. I hate it because it has caused a 'Them and Us' division (motorists and cyclists) that never seemed to exist before. Modern cyclists are their own worst enemy in my eyes.

In fact, maybe the "driving instructor" was his co-creator. Bottom line, if this is real, then the driving instructor shouldn't have even engaged in conversation, and just drive off, as he made his manoeuvre a safe distance from the cyclist based on cyclists speed at beginning or manoeuvre, and cyclist deliberately sped up to try and create a confrontation. The number of times I, as a driver, as a cyclist, and as a pedestrian, have had to wait for other road users to complete a move before continuing on my way. I think that it is safe to say that he moved to the center of the road as he assumed the car was reversing into the drive rather than doing a 3-point turn. If he had been right and the car had continued reversing no problem, but it is that assumption that can be the difference between sailing past and having a road traffic accident. I was on my way to work one morning and while on an island saw a HGV where the driver wasn't looking in my direction as he approached. If I had assumed that he was going to stop and carried on I would have ended up under the lorry. The driver only looked and acknowledged an apology after he was already on the island. My other understanding is that if someone has started a 3-point turn, that you should allow them to complete the manoeuvre.

@@ethelmini The cyclist only had to change speed because on the run up to the confrontation, as the instructor was maneuvering, the cyclist was speeding up, rather than holding his speed or easing off just a little to see what happened. And holding speed or easing off would have taken less time out of the journey than the confrontation itself did. Hell, just about every comment on this video I've seen from other cyclists is in agreement with that.

Dear Nigel. There's a contributor on here called Will who once was a 'deluded' driver with road rage in the same vein as you on your bike. But he took a long, hard look at himself and has become a much calmer, better driver and is rightly applauded on here when he sends in clips of his "nice driving". Try it yourself and see. Can you see that you're wrong here? Even if you were right, isn't it a kinder thing to slow down and let that driver (no matter his profession) complete his manoeuvre? You will do your blood pressure a world of good by taking the moral high ground and telling yourself "Ah, they made a mistake" "Maybe they're having a bad day" "We all get it wrong sometimes" "They're an idiot (insert noun of choice), but I choose to make the situation better by helping out / keeping out of their way / let them get on with it." I look forward to seeing your "nice cycling" clips.

Cyclists insist other road users obey the law when it suits them. They also ignore the law when it suits them! I watched a cyclist ride down the left-hand side of a police car, through a red light, and then up onto the pavement. I was so frustrated that I asked the police why they did nothing. The chances of catching a cyclist in a car, or on foot for that matter, are virtually zero, and frankly, they have more important things to do! While these situations exist, the problems will never be solved.

First of all the "Rev" makes it sounds as if the car was reversing fully into and then out of a drive, when in fact we can all see the driver was simply doing a 3 point turn (and lots of people do 3 point turns by drives as its easier and generally safer to do so). Secondly the cyclist was nowhere near the "incident position" when the car started its 3 point turn, so the cyclist had ample time to gradually slow down because contrary to popular belief, cyclists do not have a "God" given right to keep going and "heaven" forbid actually stop. I suggest the "Rev" says 10 Our Fathers and 5 Hail Marys as penance. Here endeth the sermon. Puns intended.

Dear cyclist: There is nothing worse then posting something onto the internet where you believe you were wronged with a strong intention of the public to agree with you. Then the public turn and totally disagree with you and the people who also share your sport, activity, or leisure call you an embarrassment. That is a huge kick to every piece of self esteem you might have had left and I wouldn't wish what happened to you upon anyone. The only thing you can do in this situation is to remove the post and hope the public won't remember it, remember you, and others in the future won't see it either. I'm all for looking out for cyclists but that was unreal, especially more so when you consider the big fuss over absolutely nothing here..plus sending this footage in to Ash expecting him to side with the cyclist! Extremely deluded viewer indeed! Notice also how right away the cyclist says he's going to put this out on KZbin. He obviously is looking for footage to make something out of. A couple of things I might have done differently to the driving instructor...and it has absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with his actual driving: Firstly, if I wanted to talk to the cyclist at all, I would have wound my window down rather than open my door, which leaves me far more vulnerable. Secondly, I likely would not have wanted to engage in any confrontation at all and would have simply driven away, ignoring the cyclist. There is no legal obligation to stick around for a confrontation, especially when the other person is being totally unreasonable. Either way, the driving instructor's driving was totally fine. What else is this deluded cyclist going to complain about? That he had to move out a few feet to get around a parked car? If he can't cope with sharing the road with others, maybe he should just stay at home.

The driving instructor's car was turning in the road. When the cyclist initially encounters the car it is already blocking the road, not pulling out from a drive. 1:57, despite the horrific camera quality, you can see reverse lights on the car that is blocking the road (later revealed to be the driving instructor vehicle). The audio is quite clear, that the cyclist is still actively pedalling. 2:03, the driving instructor car has clearly stopped moving, wheels are aimed to their right, and he is blocking the whole road. Cyclist is still pedalling, and starts to move to their right, as if to pass in front of the driving instructor vehicle. 2:07, obstruction cleared and expletive uttered by the cyclist. Confrontation starts "why did you pull out on me there?" - when in fact that isn't what happened. The driving instructor never cleared out of the road (rather impolite to use someone else's driveway to complete a turn in the road...). In order to have that debate, about why the instructor "didn't wait" - the cyclist causes an obstruction to the vehicle behind. Best thing the instructor could do in that situation...
