I am 6'5" and definitely digging this content. Having someone tall evaluate electric bikes will help me with picking one for myself. This Mihogo wouldn't be a bad choice for how I would use it. The extra charger would be nice, but it's not a deal breaker. I am a little concerned about getting a flat tire. Can I just plug it, use a backpack bike pump to get enough pressure to ride it home? Or am I looking at needing more than what a little bike pump can handle?

go to a reputable bike shop and check some mid drive bikes out there, they're gonna handle hills better than these junkers ever will.

First, this bike certainly isn't a junker. But yes, a mid-drive bike does have more low end torque, and would be better for environments like ours.

@6'3" and a mere 30" inseam i find a cruiser like my Micargi Vancouver w/high-rise bars is a perfect fit for my frame(arms straight, seat low) and shes a head turner too. I added a qs205 hub motor, Sabvoton 72150 controller and built a 42ah 60v battery and that all gets me about 40 miles @ 40mph or 90ish @15mph . 2 years of daily commuting (i don't ever drive) and cruising our burb, now coworkers and neighbors are wanting to start there builds. the area in which I live from what i have seen has less than 1/4 mile of bike paths/lanes so essentially 0 bicycle infrastructure. thankfully the fuzz is understanding of the need to travel with traffic instead of next to it. as long as we follow traffic laws they don't mind so much the mildly excessive speed (35-40mph) when our e bike limit is 28 w/PA. I used to spend 10$a week on gasoline (would be 15 to 20 nowadays) bike payed its 3k build cost off in a little over a year.

@supersonicspeed9 Жыл бұрын
Most of Europe has tight knitted and unnecessary restrictions, and it seems from an outside view less about safety on the road, and more about maintaining car dominance, perhaps because it makes more money to have everyone on a drivers license and buying/renting cars with hefty yearly fees. Less people also means the bureaucracy will use any accident on a personal electric vehicle as a grounds to create new laws and restrictions around them. The best protest is simply to use "illegal" vehicles under the radar, because enforcement is difficult if a lot of people use them. At least you guys in Sweden can use unlocked electric scooters for the time being, and fines are small compared to your neighboring countries.

I am against the use of an app. A key, like many other e-bikes, solves the problem in a proper way that does not lock you out of the product once the app is no longer supported for any reason.
@CraftComputing Жыл бұрын
The app really only logs your trips, and serves as the motor lock. There's no tie-in at all for settings, as everything can be configured directly on the bike using the three-button controller on the handlebars.

Oof, 130 pounds is really heavy; I thought my Aventon Aventure.2 was heavy at ~75 pounds but 130 is way worse. I got my ebike back at the beginning of June and have been loving it; before that it had probably been 20 years since I'd been on a bike. The Aventure.2 will do right at 28mph in top gear when you're "out of gears" and almost ghost pedaling.

@draggonhedd Жыл бұрын
OK since all the channels i sub to are reviewing these things, ill say it here too: I work in a bike shop. We get these fat tire 20" chinese e-bikes in all the time. They are a MASSIVE PAIN TO WORK ON. And they accrue a number of premium charges beacues of this. Tires are almost IMPOSSIBLE to find for these, and they are not rated for what these bikes subject them to. I have seen so many sidewall blowouts of the very same tanwall tires you have on that one there. They are a huge safety hazard. The bikes themselves are also made of poor quality parts that you cannot repair or find replacements for because they are generic aliexpress stuff. If ANYTHING goes wrong with the brakes (and they will, usually around the 6mo mark) on these, its a full replacement since no bike shop can find spares. None of the hardware on these is treated in any way to prevent corrosion or rust, and every single joint on this thing will wear out and become loose, making you feel like you're riding the slinky dog from Toy Story. Save your money, buy a normally proportioned ebike from a reputable bike manufacturer, and avoid these like the plague, or you'll have to be doing all the work yourself and you'll be replacing entire systems wholesale, and then youll be up to the cost of a real ebike with a warranty anyway. Trust me, I have scars from these bikes, Please.,
@CraftComputing Жыл бұрын
Can I be honest with you (this is going to sting a little). If your customers are buying these, and you're not equipped to work on them... that's a you problem as a service provider. Source parts from AliExpress. Find a dealer for the tires. Source replacement bolts, nuts, axles, controllers, and be happy to take your customer's money to fix their problems. You can be as uppity as you want about quality, all while letting potential customers walk out the door because you don't think their bikes are good enough to be in your shop, or you can do your job as a service provider, service their bikes, offer improvements where necessary, and build long-term relationships that will help YOUR business long-term.
@draggonhedd Жыл бұрын
@@CraftComputing Look, sorry if it came across the wrong way but these are a genuine safety hazard. We don't sell them, we only work on them when they come in and we do our best to make sure they're as safe as possible when they come in. But all our suppliers carry is the tubes for these. We can't sell aliexpress parts (corporate says no), I'm just trying to warn people that these things are a headache to own long term. If you like it, thats fine but in my personal hands-on experience they are unsafe, hard to service, and generally poor quality. if that's a risk you're willing to take on, thats awesome, have fun with it. I just want people to understand that there are (IMO) better, safer alternatives to these for around the same cost. I'm not even recommending anything specific, I just dont want people to get hurt on these.
@CraftComputing Жыл бұрын
I appreciate the reply. Yes, if you're in a corporate shop with fixed supply chains, I do understand the point you're making. But my point still stands, as if you can't help customers, there's no point to being a bike repair shop. I held off on the review until I put a good amount of miles on the bike (ODO is at 93 as of writing, and was over 100 by the end of filming). I spot checked for loose bolts after every couple rides, with my longest being 17mi. Nothing of note to report, as everything was properly loctited, and outside minor adjustments, everything ran perfectly the entire time (minus the kickstand arm). I am definitely curious to see how the tires hold up, but so far, everything else has been 100% solid.
@floppywonka Жыл бұрын
@@CraftComputing absolutely no quality shop is going to order bike parts from aliexpress. there is no quality control guarantee, it takes a month minimum for parts to arrive, and no recourse if there is a problem with the part once it arrives (you have a 15 day window to make any claims at all and you're required to communicate with the seller before you can make a claim, every time i've had to do this the seller takes up to 2 or 3 days to respond to me per each communication, clearly trying to make it through the 15 day window before i can make a claim). i have ordered a lot of bike parts from aliexpress over the years for my own bikes and i understand the risk i'm taking doing so. a shop relying on aliexpress parts would be a lawsuit waiting to happen. even if the customer ordered the part and brought it in for my shop to install, i'd be uncomfortable doing it without explaining to them what they're setting themselves up for and having them sign some kinda waiver stating neither me nor my shop would be liable if the part fails. calling someone "uppity" for caring about the safety of their customers is kinda shitty, btw.
@loganjones4309 Жыл бұрын
Dude. 93 miles isn’t enough miles for something like this to show it’s true colors, and if you ever wrench on this thing you’re gonna’ see how much of a pain in the ass it is, and why shops aren’t eager to take these in for service.
