this is not the same case as definitely the driver's at fault..but In many instances in our trips, American tourists are arrogant, uncooperative and reckless..I remember we were in a tour, and a family of Americans were trying to rush the driver back as they said they had to leave in an hour to catch their plane, and we as fellow Americans had to reprimand them, that they should have not got into the trip, if they thought they wont make it, we had to tell the local driver to drive as he should...such stupidity.

My piece of advice to the brother in the aftermath of tragedy is to NOT live for his sister. Do NOT put that pressure on yourself to be happy & successful & “live life to the fullest.” Allow yourself to mourn this irreparable loss. Live for yourself but accept there will be hiccups.

This is exceptional advice. Most of my immediate family has tragically died. When the focus is so forcefully placed on "living life to the fullest" particularly, so soon after a majorly impactful Death the grief and sadness becomes buried and IT WILL eventually manifest later on. It is best to allow oneself to feel the pain in a healthy way and learn to move forward WITH it. Living well and fully is always the ultimate goal but eschewing and evading the Mourning will cause numerous issues later on.

Only certain words retain original pronunciation. This goes for multilingual kids (your first language being something other than english) and Non-American-english-as-a-first-language kids... There are so many accidents in tourist locations involving snorkeling, but no one keeps track of all of these incidents. I love snorkeling, but open water snorkeling is almost an entirely different experience than using a mask and snorkel in your backyard pool. Everyone should have to be a swimmer and wear a vest, no matter how good a swimmer or how experienced you are at snorkeling.

Always have a spotter!! We rescued a 5 year old after falling off a tube, and had to chase his boat a quarter mile BEFORE the driver looked back and noticed he was one kiddo short and he was the little ones dad!! What a heartwrenching story. My heart goes out to the family of Cassidy. Here in Alabama, it’s a law that an observer be present whenever someone is being pulled behind the boat, i.e. skiing, tubing, wakeboarding, etc. I honestly thought the family was going to say another boat had hit her because the driver couldn’t get to her fast enough. @@rc6292 One set of eyes can only focus on one thing at a time and for a driver, they have to focus mostly on what's going on in front. Two sets of eyes can however allow the driver to focus on driving and the observer focus on observing, allow them to easily communicate with each other, and be able to see over blind spots. Of course when the driver accidentally bumps the lever up to full speed, that's more of a human error, but it allows for a better more safe approach that doesn't end like a reverse Titanic.

So sad! We had a bad experience in Aruba. My daughter and my friend's daughter were parasailing and the line broke, they fell to the water and the wind was dragging them in their seats out to sea. Another boat was able to reach them and help. They were banged up but thankfully not seriously hurt. There had been dark clouds moving in and it was getting very windy. They should have never gone up in the conditions as it could have ended tragically.

U guys have no idea how simply telling this story changes the world. *I almost died on a flight of stairs at a frat party,* but thanks to all those mothers who lost their sons and used their stories to warn others.. I knew how big of a deal it was that I was about to fall (my body just gave out in the middle of me going down the stairs but I was still 100% conscious) I was absolutely wasted, my thoughts were literally slurred.. yet right before I was about to actually take the fall.. I heard my own voice in my head say so clearly: *nobody here cares about you,* and suddenly I was sober enough to react to the fall (this was one of the longest yet quickest moments of my life to this day) Once the fall was finally over.. I hear a guy my age yell at the top of the stairs “YOOO YOU ALMOST HIT UR HEAD” Massive bruises all over my body, I looked like an autopsy.. but the bruises were literally in the middle of my thigh, the upper meaty part of my arm.. somehow I quite literally walked away from that fall. I hope mom or dad can read this because they’re unknowing playing a part in someone’s life. *this situation isn’t for nothing*

Yes,look out from the" edge of a beach"!!!!! In Greece I waited for a young woman come ashore after an out -of -control motor boat's blades had cut into her thigh's so badly. I helped her across the beach to the nearest restaurant and shouted to call for an ambulance. God bless this poor family .💕

As someone who lives 20 min from a huge lake and has been on the water my whole life, this could happen to anyone, anytime on the water. Being on the water is never inherently safe, you should always be aware accidents can happen. It's not failproof. My mom flew out of a tube once and broke her leg really badly. Watersports are extreme and you always have to be careful. You should always have a lookout to tell the driver once someone flies off so they can turn around immediately. I'm sorry for their loss.

My 8 year old niece had a similar accident while tubing on vacation. A teenager on a jet ski ran over her skull. She ended up in the ICU and had to have a craniotomy to relieve the bleeding on her brain. She lived, but things can happen in a split second.

I can't imagine ever having to endure the loss of a child....as there's no greater loss as far as I'm concerned. It doesn't matter how old they are either, as my 55 yr. old brother passed away 3 months after being hit by a car, and I'll NEVER FORGET for as long as I live, my poor mother's cry over the phone when she called to give me the news. It's absolutely devastating!!!! Prayers for this family and ALL of the other parents and families out there having to live with such heartache.

I will definitely always think of their unfortunate story going forward, especially when I have kids one day. A few years ago, I was in the Caribbean with my parents and two brothers and I had also wanted to go on a tube ride. My brothers and I got on the tube and it was attached to a jet ski, but we weren’t given any instructions. I remember being so scared at how fast we were going and hitting the waves, especially since the stitching from the handles had also started coming off. Even though I had a life vest, I didn’t want to be thrown off going X amount of miles into the water. We tried yelling at the driver to slow down, but he couldn’t hear us for a while until we had started screaming. Besides all of us bumping our heads into each other, thankfully we were left unharmed. That experience alone and this story definitely shifts my perspective into tourist excursions.

I know this all too well. Tubing is a dangerous water sport that can be fatal if not handled properly- sure it might be fun seeing it on tv or on ads, but in reality, it’s more dangerous then people think it is. Man this hits close to home for me… My family has visited Aruba since I was 13. We’ve gone there every year for years since. (except during covid of course). I am now 22 and we do the big mabel every time we go just before our vacation is over. It’s a tradition for us. My dad my whole life has been weirdly over protective when it comes to watersports on the beach ever since I could remember. There are many water sports he refuses to let me do or even try and the ones he does allow he always would do research and look at different ones for days. Which is why we always did it at the end of the trip. I never understood why he would make us walk far from the hotel to choose a place to do the big mabel, especially when there were ones that were closer. I thought maybe it was bc he wanted a cheaper price, but I guess maybe he was looking for who knew how to do their jobs the most efficiently. Even now as an adult, when im on vacation with him he is still protective about it. I am so sorry for your loss and I give u my sincerest condolences.

My husband and 10 yr old were left by one of these boats in the Bahamas. Driver kept going faster, the tube flipped, no spotter, never saw them. They were in middle of the ocean 3 hrs before anyone found them. My son seriously injured. NO one ever held responsible. BE CAREFUL
