i like the look as it is. Not sure what adding led strips does differently, but to me it's not worth it when it already looks good. As you mentioned, I would not wanna open them again. Quite surprising to see it's on 301 whp with all these power mods. Would've guessed it was close to 350... Probs because of the octane level I guess?
@TheShaddix5 жыл бұрын
this is a fairly common hp number on 91. Most of the time you see them tuned on 93 or flex. Also, what all those power mods do you mean? All I really have that "makes" power is the new intercooler, plus the deletes. The intake does zero. It's not like I have a built motor. These dyno around 220-230 stock. It's the torque that matters and 327 of it is a huge step up from stock.
@baruwrxyz97725 жыл бұрын
@@TheShaddix I was thinking all the common mods that yield powers: TGVD, EGRD, J-pipe, TMIC. Possibly an additional 10-20 whp on a CP with intake. However, I think ou're right, I realized probably I was looking at those dyno sheets tuned on 93 oct and that's why there is a difference in terms of numbers.
@TheShaddix5 жыл бұрын
@@baruwrxyz9772 Intake and CP don't give any hp. The deletes and the gs intercooler are the best bang for the buck. The jpipe adds a bit too, plus the exhaust, but not in big numbers. The main gains come from the tune itself. The tuner can easily push more psi and gain more hp and tq, but then you risk reliability and bending rods. The numbers he got out of the car are perfect for normal driving on 91. It is really quick for the street, I don't see why anyone would want more unless that's your main goal and you need to satisfy that itch, which I have done before. I've had much faster cars, you can scroll through my videos to see which ones (my 350z had a tt kit pushing 420whp), but none felt so quick in the way they get into boost. The wrx has very minimal turbo lag and every gear feels strong which is usually not the case for a tiny engine. If you offered me more power safely, I wouldn't really want it, I wouldn't know what to do with it. The car pulls out of corners really hard and on the freeway it picks up speed quickly, that's what I wanted from it. Plus I am over the whole thing with power and speeding. The older I get the less I care for quick cars. I enjoy the look and sound more now. The way I drive the car for videos is not how I drive it normally. It looks like I am beating it up, but I kind of have to do that to make a video worth watching and not a snooze fest.
@baruwrxyz97725 жыл бұрын
@@TheShaddix That's some meaningful comment, thank you my friend! It's true and agreed that 300whp is more than enough for street driving. I hope I will understand the phrase "It's all just numbers after all" after going down that tuning route lol. Power-wise, I already have a J-pipe installed and flashed to the Cobb OTS stage 2. I pretty much have all the power mods you have on rn, other than an intercooler, which is also in the plan as well. TBH, can't wait to see how mine can go and feel the power first hand! Thanks for your sharing your thoughts and experience, really appreciate it :)

I have the stock recirculating bypass on my 18 wrx. Which one do you have? Mine starts to flutter horribly if I accelerate on the freeway past a certain RPM. What I mean is that, there is a solid "breathing" if I accelerate and shift sooner. But if I shift later, it "flutters" I can'stand it. I am stage 2 and would like to change it. Is yours direct to atmosphere? Just reading articles saying those are bad for our cars.
@TheShaddix5 жыл бұрын
The mod list in the description. The one I have is a turboxs fully recirc. bpv. The flutter is totally normal below 4k rpm, it sounds like it's spitting nonstop, it's just letting out excess boost in the rpm range where it's most prone to bend rods. If you get any flutter past that point all the way to redline, under full throttle, then it's not normal as it should go into full boost. If you're not at full throttle, then that's the cause. Make sure you check that the gas pedal actually gets 100% throttle too. With some pedal mods you will not get 100% like the velox spacer, etc. Remove the plug on the floor if this is the case. If you're running a regular map you get for free like the maperformance or cobb ones, then go with a full on e-tune or pro-tune and get a gs ebcs. Also, check your couplings on the chargepipe, the turbo inlet, etc. Check your vacuum hoses too. Get under there and verify everything is tight and plugged in. This could very well be the cause. And check the intercooler coupling and for any cracks/damage. Let me know.
@Apes_love_BMX5 жыл бұрын
@@TheShaddix I had my car protuned at Surgeline. I checked everything and it is good to go. It is just the normal spitting. I just hate it. I want it to be one solid "whoosh" No spitting. I get the reason for it. It's just annoying. I have everything Cobb on my car. Intake, Full exhaust, EBC, The TGV is another brand. EGR delete. Next mod is the BPV. Then the shifting work begins.
@TheShaddix5 жыл бұрын
@@Apes_love_BMX i hear you man, i don't like it either. But that's what you get with internal wastegates. If you don't want this noise, you have to get an external wastegate and route it into the exhaust so it's not dumping to atmosphere. My F80 M3 had this same spitting sound too below certain rpm. I hated it a lot when I changed the intake to cone filters, so I just reverted back to stock. If you really are bugged by the noise, switch back to stock intake box with a drop in filter. The reason you hear it so loud is because of your cobb intake.
