A Few Ways To Repair Damaged or Sagging Stair Stringers

Don't know if you covered this topic already. Could you explain why codes don't allow a deck to be attached to a cantilevered ring board on a structure. I had this issue gigged by a home inspector but it was OK because the deck was supported by two separate bents (ground supported posts and beam) not the typical one. How could support be provided at the structure without another bent?
