@@TheSapling If you do add tentacles, I think you should make them a bit like Serina world of birds tentacled bird tentacles, those work very well and don't look odd with the vertebrate body plan. You do what you want though. If you do add this, I think having like an initially octopus-esque mouth evolve from a beak would make sense, it enables both Serina stuff and octopus stuff. As I said before, these are just ideas, don't feel pressured.

I feel like natural barriers would be super super interesting, perhaps there could be an island cliff type, or a rafting mechanic so that smaller animals that were pregnant or gravid would have a higher chance of getting rafted to an island they normally wouldn't be able to get to. And larger animals would likely be landlocked or regionlocked based off of certain things, this could slow down all of the animals spreading everywhere in a super cool way and allow for different regions to evolve very differently, and avoid getting certain species wiped out by a more efficient species that maybe lives on another island. I find that usually when I make a world with two different species one of them spreads out everywhere and the other is outcompeted almost every time so maybe giving evolution a chance for them to carve out a nieche before they get outcompeted would be a good game mechanic.

I have know idea if this is already possible in the game already but neoteny should be possible. Damn, I can't believe I missed the premier. Regardless I want to offer some ideas in regards to mushrooms. Since you don't want poop, when an animal dies mushrooms can grow from the carcass which aids in restoring nutrients to the soil. Something similar should also occur with plants, with a physical representation of a dead plants that mushrooms can breakdown. Finally, underwater variations of mushrooms and physical representation of flotsam detritus. Since plants originally evolved from marine algae, a large amount of organic material is needed. With the idea being detritus would come in from the oceans, mushrooms would grow from this and introduce minerals into the soil, spreading as they go.

The more time passes, the more I am amazed by the development this game is taking, but even more by the fact that this mammoth work was done by a single person. This update lays the foundation for improving scenarios such as aquatic and aerial. Below are some things that would be very welcome for the future: - diversify the algae editor and connect the plant editor to allow switching between the two even in the sandbox phase (perhaps instead of adding the plant editor icon as a part) - as mentioned, having an editor for algae similar to that of plants would be very useful in the case of oceanic planets, where much (if not all) biodiversity is underwater - diversify the wings already present for advantages and disadvantages. I am mainly based on the fact that, if a terrestrial species has 2 legs, flight is not easily developed. It would be useful if, for example, the pterosaur-like wings allowed quadrupedal and 2-legged walking but with the impossibility of climbing. The bat-like wing allows climbing but is susceptible to lower temperatures. The bird-like wing no climbing or quadrupedal walking but high versatility for temperatures - in addition to the turtle shell, add crocodile-like osteoderms, perhaps less protective but with greater resistance to high temperatures

I notice that in the game right now we only really have bird, insect and mammal parts, and another option would be fantastic as it would unlock much more possibilities, Example: A snake like mouth would deal the damage done by poison in plants! Or a crocodile mouth which would hold the prey still for a few seconds and doing a quite a bit of damage! Hope you like this idea!

Since you touched on the subject of "competing" with other players in daily challenges, it would be interesting if we could create an ingame profile. With name, photo (create a creature for it), experience, level, that kind of thing. As objectives are achieved in the game modes, we acquire experience and evolve our profile by unlocking rewards, such as music, artwork, wallpapers for the menu home screen, titles, medals and trophies, more customization for profile, cheats for the casual sandbox game mode, perhaps even creature presets made by you or skin textures for creatures, that sort of thing. This profile could have match record tabs according to each mode, recording time played, efficiency, number of life form, etc. This way you establish a greater objective in the game and create a form of comparison between other players. For me, what's missing in the game is this, more objectives, rewards and a less passive way of playing. The fact that you practically just watch the game ends up getting a little tedious over time. I loved the new updates. I can't wait to see the final version.

Future update ideas (maybe full game stuff) Instinct overhaul: -adds a function for seeing a pattern (like, see thin striped pattern, go away) -adds priority instincts (this is for if 2 instincts are triggered at the same time, like 2 different instincts are triggered at the same time, so you could choose which one should happen first in the instinct editor) -instinct food option for a specific food item (like if the diet has more than one thing selected or something. This can also be used for the priorities thing too) -instinct option to start flying Plants/algae stuff -the ability to place flowers, leaves, etc. on top of a stem of a plant or on the ends of branches -the ability to place fruit to hang down from the bottoms of branches -plant patterns, like how the animal editor has a trait for patterns -plant editor option for vines, like how you can have the globular algae in the algae editor -ability to choose different stem and leaf colors -the ability to make underwater grass -coral editor Animal stuff -more insect parts (legs, wings, etc) -armored trait, like how rhinos have that -more patterns -ability to change glow color (and maybe an instinct for light colors) -ability to change eye color -ability to make different parts of the animal different colors (like different leg color or parts of the body) Misc. stuff -ability to change the amount of rocks present on the world in the world editor -rock size slider -cave generation -planets can have moons (like the rings option) that change water level -manual terrain sculpting -patterns show up on animals in more places (parts of the body with parts like legs of mouths can't have patterns at this stage of the game) that's really all I could think of for right now. I know if you decide on this stuff actually being in the game it would be really hard to do, so you don't have to do any of this, it would just be like quality of life changes or whatever. The game right now is spectacular and has a whole lot of potential. I find myself captivated by how much is truly possible in this game, and I am tuned in for any new content updates and the full game itself.

Maybe this is already in the simulation and I missed it in the previous videos, but: You could add a feature that allows the users to set up the density of the air. In the Earth, the composition of the gases in our air makes it about 800 times less dense than water, but in another planet air could be incredibly dense, for example it could be double that of the Earth, just 400 times less dense than water. That would make it a bit more difficult for land animals to move through it at high speeds, but at the same time it would make it easier for bigger animals to fly, since more dense air would be pushed under the wings Or, if you want to explore the extremes, you could setup the air to be super dense, about 1/2 or even 3/4 the density of water. That would make it extremely difficult to move on land but would allow certain animals to kinda "swim through the air", so flight would evolve naturally in some fish that would use their fins as wings

ive noticed a problem that makes predation very hard, its the fact that its color based. so if a species changes color the predators are likely to die out, as many players have noticed if they add in predators they almost always die out. maybe add two instinct to something like "an herbivore" "an omnivore" "a carnivore" "a smaller species" "a same size species" " a bigger species" i feel like these instincts would help predators continue to fight and eat animals without needing to only focus on species of certain color. for example and instinct for a predator could be like this: If sees A herbivore Go towards it If sees A herbivore Than attack (if close) this could likely help make predation more useful and less likely to flunk in the game, its your choice though

OK Mr Sapling Dev I totally rescind my previous comment. This is some of the best nature game design I've ever seen, and the scope / variety you're trying to fit in is really comprehensive. As far as making the sandbox creator less overwhelming - could the part selector be something other than a tree? Could tree be an alternate, fullscreen view to track progress in regular gameplay, then in the sandbox parts are selected from a matrix or dropdown list or something?
