I grew up going to this mall. I haven't been there in many many years. I went earlier today to take some pictures before it closes for good. It was sad to see it so empty, the Pickleball courts on the first floor seemed like a bit of an insult. Goodbye Chesterfield Mall 😢.

had to have one last meal at the cheesecake factory last weekend and I'm sad to see this all go. I moved into the area in the early 1980s and this was considered an upscale place to shop. Bought some furniture there in 1999 at Dillards, hopefully the new development will benefit the area and the local residence. Great video. 10:50

Crazy to think how fast this place went downhill.

I find it SO sad how much Chesterfield Mall has really gone down hill. I remember going to this mall all the time and there was a lot in here. However, I’ll be VERY curious to see what the new Downtown Chesterfield redevelopment will be like.

“Downtown Chesterfield.” Is that not an oxymoron?

I, too, find it very sad. I used to shop at the JCPenney.

I think if they can do it somewhat like streets of St. Charles it could be a big success.

A few months ago, I was at the Y and walking around the lake when I decided to walk over to the mall. I was shocked that this once vibrant and busy mall was basically gone. I remember how many teenagers got their first job, met a BF/GF, or simply hung out at the mall. I just wonder where that all happens now.

@@Shades_99 well I'm glad they wore with you but one guy got all Hasty at me I was trying to explain to him I was recording it because the mall was closing and you just kept repeating the same thing over and over again that I can't record and and I made a mistake by questioning like why I can't record and he didn't give me an answer and told me to go talk to the head of the mall about it so I tried and he got all mad at me and told me I couldn't record which doesn't make sense because he was the one who told me to go ask them tell me where to go but I told him I wouldn't record anymore cuz he said he would kick me out of the mall so I decided to just in the conversation and told him I wouldn't record anymore and I was walking towards V stock and he was following me I believe to make sure I was going in there is what I thought but then he had the security in everyone looking for me and I just got really uncomfortable and mad after that so I'm glad at least you got off because I was trying to not escalate the situation and make it worse by ending the conversation by telling them I wouldn't record anymore but he made it worse by following me

"Mixed-Use" = Intentional dilution of single-family home suburbs.
@dennistucker90815 ай бұрын
Your statement rings true. Do you have any sources?
@lawrenceclay58862 ай бұрын
Single family home suburbs have absolutely no positive benefit to the community, unless you are wealthy.
@kippaseo80275 ай бұрын
The reason why these suburban malls are failing has less to do with internet sales it's and more to do with demographic change.

Sadly even if you weren’t shopping malls were a good place to walk indoors and get exercise and feel somewhat safe

I remember walking in orange Julius was on the right burger. Chef was on the left the 1982 pace car Camaro was in the burger Chef at the end of that row was morrows nut House. If you were good, your mom would take you to Stix Baer and Fuller for French onion soup with cheese and bread and the little crocs. And the fat security guard would chase us out of there for riding our bikes up and down the escalators and every quarter I made went directly into the game room. Also sneaking into our rated movies was a lot easier there. We would ride our bikes up there every chance we could. Also bouncing Super Bowls all the way across from one side to the other was a good time as well we never stole. We never damage property a lot different than the kids today.

Is the mall inaccessible to public? Like other than the open stores?
@frankmann28999 ай бұрын
The mall is open. There are a few stores but a large portion of the mall is walled off
