Here is a idea to make a easy flexible heater. The heater can be waterproof and can be used in jackets, for example.

Normal infrared panels do not get any hotter than 120 degrees if you have a good one. If the temperature of these conductive ink panels gets 200 degrees or more with only 60 Watts you need special material to glue it on. Best ofcourse a layer of alu-foil to radiate the heat outward not heat the wall. 12v 2.5 Amps sounds really safe and might be a good option to have in your car somewhere built on the roof or dashboard. Is there a way to reduce the heat, and cap it to 120 degrees? Maybe when hot you could lover the Amps to 1A. (12 Watt), some call that overheating protection. I am amazed and if conductive ink would be available by the gallon i would try a project like yours. For now i stick to ready available thin-film carbon floor heating up to 8 meters.

Is this not too dangerous working with these materials, heat and electricity together? And what is the time to go from 20 to 50 degrees on 12V? Nice video btw!

Electricity and resistance make heat. If you really dont know what you doing than cen be dangerous. To 50 degrees,... in few seconds.

Great and inspiring video as usual! The link to the conductive ink isn't working.. will any conductive ink work the same or should we choose specific one ?

I did similar but with the graphoil instead of ink . I press it on to surface very well and then seperate it . Then burnish the graphoil covered tape and resistance was 5-10 ohm . For higher resistance you just use the same graphoil again and resistance is 10-25 ohm . Works very good and very easy! You can still use some ink to help connect the aluminium strips! You should try and add some cayrex ideas to it 👍🏻

I like this idea - What thickness of graphoil did you use (.5,.1, ?) and how did you burnish the graphoil covered tape?
@Buzzhumma
@Buzzhumma 4 жыл бұрын
@@minnetonkabill hi bill , i had 1mm graphoil and you can use clear book cover contact ! The adhesion is dependent the amount of sticky surface . Different brand yeild different amount of resistance. You can burnish with a static peice of round stainless tube . Just rub it on the tube like a shoe shine boy buffs the shoes 👍🏻

If the current will travel the shortest way/ way of least resistance wont the power go from the start down the ink in the first few cm and then out the end? Or should i essentially see it as alot of parallel connections or a "thick" wire? Is the heating uniform?

great video but that Kapton tape is EXPEN$IVE. Edit; 5:06 I’d use some kind of cylindrical object like a cookie dough roller or paint roller at that point and lay the tape back over the roller

Yes, I know about kapton. But kapton have good heat resistance. Try to find some fake kapton on ebay is more cheap and have the same perfomance. Good idea

kaptons not to bad for the purpose, a pack of slowcooker liners works just as well, and if you dont need full flexability then you can use any form of high temp binding filler as your base substrate as robert murray smith shows,enamel,varnish,even the non conducting carbonversions painted on paper,slate,stone etc

better even would be a spray of the soap water followed by the top lamination followed by a plastic sqeezee pressure to remove water from between the layers.If want see how, please checkout any auto decal application video.
