Can you make a supercapacitor from kapton tape? Yep! Using a laser, we can decompose the Kapton (polyimide) into a graphene "foam" via a process known as Laser Induced Graphene. This form of graphene makes an excellent material for electrostatic double-layer supercapacitors. It has reasonable conductivity and a very large surface area due to the foamy nature, which allows good contact with the electrolyte.
