I love that you guys made Cell the protagonist of this whole web series. Your version of Cell is such a wonderful and charismatic character. He deserved this love.

Their version of Perfect Cell really does feel more like a combination of good and evil characters than canon Cell. He's got... well, not exactly redeeming or sympathetic qualities, but just a basic level of humanity that makes him feel like a good fit for a villain protagonist role. Seeing him get humbled here is a bit akin to the way it happened to Vegeta in canon. I think a lot of people prefer Freeza as a villain antagonist, but as a villain protagonist, Abridged Cell absolutely wins.

In fairness, Cell was pretty honorable overall. He hosted a tournament and let his opponents prepare and everything. He's also always been shown to be more pragmatic than sadistic when given the opportunity. With the right pressure and events he could probably be a functional team member for the Z warriors, at least much more so than Freeza ever could.

The thing is that Cell wasn't really looking to blow up Earth for any malicious purpose, he honestly just wanted to see if he could do it, because it would be a challenge. It does seem that he just wanted to fight the strongest warriors he could, and it's very likely if he did blow up Earth, he would have just searched the Galaxy for more warriors. Hell, maybe he would have even not blown Earth up, and just keep fighting the strongest warriors until there's no more. He's not malicious at all, at least not in a Frieza way.

I just want to praise this as it went from the claymation start to the story reveal at the end switching back to the classic HFIL style then jumping immediately into Lani Spon song ad. I was hit with a feeling like I truly was watching classic christmas TV from my childhood once more which I don't recall ever feeling like something has stroked that before till now in that sense. This is an amazing sendup of the Rankin-Bass Christmas specials. If this is cgi it is impeccable, and if it's stop motion I applaud the incredible effort it must have taken to produce this. And the fact that I'm not sure if it is or not is a testament to the production quality.

It's CG, look at the shadows and the way the faces move. It's very impressive, but the shadows are too sharp for something at claymation scale. Great work on their part though!

@@RuNoMai there is no probably... This Cell 1 shots with his full power. His first form was stronger than mecha Freeza. I mean like even android 19 could overpower mecha Freeza maybe with some difficulty... So that kinda puts it into perspective where perfect cell would be.

@@dredgengam4610 More accurately, it goes like this: Trunks DOMINATED Freeza. Goku was even stronger than Trunks was. Vegeta was even stronger than that, and that same Vegeta got completely stomped by Android 18, who was slightly weaker than her brother 17. Classic Cell was about equal to 17 in power, but Imperfect Cell was stronger than both of them combined. Imperfect cell got completely wrecked by post-training Vegeta, then became perfect, cause... Vegeta screwed up. And Vegeta barely registered as a threat to Perfect Cell. Freeza isn't just a little outmatched there. Were talking orders of magnitude out of his league. (until he trains, and learns gold anyways)
