The downside is it won’t taste the same. Most drinks are designed to account for some dilution. A martini for example, relies on some of the ice melting during the shaking/stirring to dilute it. Same goes for an old fashioned. Room temperature ingredients are implied. If you use liquor that’s been kept in the freezer, you’ll get nearly zero dilution when you add it to the ice. So if you are going to do this, leave the bottle at room temp. You’ll need to stir it still, but old fashioned can built in glass so it only take a few seconds.

I think these ratios are off. An old fashioned should be 2.00oz whiskey, 0.25oz simple, 0.10oz bitters, a total of 2.35 ounces of liquid. Standard whiskey bottle holds 25.36 ounces. This means the bottle can hold approximately 10.79 drinks. You should put out about 3.75 ounces of whiskey, add 2.75 ounces of simple, and 1.00 ounces of bitters. This will get you much closer to a balanced old fashioned. And make sure you tap your ring on the bottle, maximum 2 times…
