A Fun Stamp Trade With Christopher

One of my subscribers named Christopher suggested we do a stamp trade for fun. He sent me some cool material which I enjoyed. I sent him back what I thought was a fair trade and then some. I hope you enjoy what he sent and what I traded with him. I had fun doing this and would do it again in the future. Although, in all honesty, I do not intend to do this on a regular basis.

I think it’s a good idea Kyle , I live in Australia and have only EBay to buy because I cannot go out of the house and am finding it hard to get Chinese and Japanese stamps

Gotta admit, I'm living vicariously through you. I always love exploring large collections and looking for treasures. That blue stamp with the overprint (36:15) is from Venezuela and was issued in 1893. The word Instruccion means it was for internal postage or revenue purposes. The overprint was used in 1900, but on a DIFFERENT STAMP. This particular stamp was overprinted in 1904 with a different surcharge. My Scott's catalogue, which admittedly is old (new issues may have more information), reads that counterfeit overprints exist of this overprint. So that leads me to believe that this may be a counterfeit overprint on the wrong stamp.

...that interesting bar cancel from McDonald PA is a Doremus Type E machine cancel used from 1899 to after WWI. The history of machine cancels is an interesting off shoot of postal history to research, though info isn't always easy to find.

Love this video! Trading and not knowing what’s in the surprise package is so fun! I ordered one of your grab bags and I felt like that!!! It added a lot of older ones to my U.S. album! I work on a little almost every day. Love the history behind stamps. I can’t wait for Christmas in hopes that Santa brings me the Mystic American Heirloom album set so I can up grade from two Harris paper 1997 and 2018 albums where not all stamps are represented. lol! 😂 Many of the world stamps in your grab bag I didn’t have, so my 3 World stock books are filling up! I love looking through them! I collect dead countries, stamps on stamps, Perfins and tagged stamps. Loved your grab bag!!!

Just a technicality, the cards that he sent you are not post cards but rather postal cards. Postal cards are issued by the US Government, post cards are issued by private companies. I am still interested in trading for the Dubai set. Please let me know yes or no.
