Would you use black plastic in the supers?

We use black plastic in brood boxes for better egg visibility but prefer white or natural in supers for clean honey comb.

Hey, sorry I mispoke on that one. Some people like to use black plastic foundation in the brood and another color like yellow or white in the honey boxes. There is no function reason to do this as it doesn't influence the honey and the bees don't treat the colors different. The colors are just for the beekeeper. Plastic foundation is easier to install than natural beeswax foundation, but both can hold up well in the extractor. Natural beeswax foundation can be difficult to install, so if it isn't installed correctly, it can fall apart in the extractor.

Do the bees run out of room more often in an 8 frame? Will the hive have benifits with a 10 fram appse to an 8 frame?

It really depends on the hive’s location, the weather, and the type of honey flow they are experiencing.
