As an avid cyclist, the amount of times i have seen a cyclist meandering over a whole lane while there is a bike lane and shoulder is insane. I know for a fact its an ego trip on their behalf. Purposely endangering themselves and others "because its their legal right to do so". These cyclists need to wake up. There are plenty of things i can "legally" do, but it doesn't make them morally or circumstantially okay. A few of my EX riding partners were on a power trip and ended up in several confrontations every day, and blamed everyone else. Would ride in the middle of the road even though there was a 2m shoulder and a bike lane, and if anyone says anything they hit the brakes, cause a scene and spit the "i have every right to ride in the middle of the lane if i don't feel safe, you have to yield" excuse. Well, if you don't feel safe in your own dedicated lane or shoulder, you shouldn't be riding on the bloody road to begin with. If you don't feel safe in a dedicated lane, but feel safe cutting everyone off and causing issues, the real issue isn't safety, it's ego.

@@matthewh8005 its for that exact reason i run 2.5" hookworms on 30mm rims with slime filled tubes on my day to day rider. copes with a 40km round trip to work 5 days a week on busy roads without flats. There could be a car door in the shoulder and i could ride over it safely.....considering i choose to ride over rock gardens with dagger like slabs, a small amount of road debris is basically a sprinkle of sand for me.
