actually mouth to mouth is less important as you think. THere is enough oxygen in the blood for 3-5 minutes but it need to be pumped so the pumping is really important. In a city or anywhere else that should be enough time until the professionals arrive. I just did my emergency help learning yesterday and that is what the dude told me
@kenstrumpf90910 ай бұрын
Right the important thing is to keep the blood circulating until the defibrillator arrives.
@UncleJamie10 ай бұрын
I've just had a quick look on the Internet about this. Basically it's now possible that compressions are more effective than mouth to mouth so non-trained civilians are told to do that and to not worry so much about the mouth to mouth part. But having said that the mouth to mouth part can still be effective in getting oxygen into the lungs and bloodstream so it's not a complete waste of time (but it can be time wasted not doing the compressions as bloodflow is so important, yadda yadda yadda....). That's all kinda academic though since the film is set in 2003 when the new guidelines wouldn't have existed yet. Or maybe Madame Web had a vision about them and shared them with her colleagues. Or she's a cyborg from the future who already knew about them? The possibilities are endful....
@MarvinPowell110 ай бұрын
Regardless of all that: 1. She's still doing the compressions wrong. 2. She didn't tilt the head to make sure the oxygen flow is clear. 3. Non-trained civilians don't need to do mouth-to-mouth, but she's a trained professional, so should be doing it. 4. The movie takes place in 2003, as another commenter said, so mouth-to-mouth would still be expected even of civilians.
@pallor_mortis10 ай бұрын
Yeah I have three generations of doctors/ nurses/combat medics in the family and I’ve always been told it’s easier, safer and sometimes more effective to forgo mouth-to-mouth. Apparently the main reason is to minimise the risk of exposure to infectious diseases transferring during CPR, but the other reasons listed here is equally valid.

The mouth to mouth part of CPR was suggested to be less important than the compressions rather recently, not that you shouldn't do them. Fantastic review as usual. One point of order though @ 16:20, appreciating the movie is set in 2003, in 2010 the American Heart Association and International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation, updated their CPR guidelines. The importance of high quality CPR (sufficient rate and depth without excessively ventilating) was emphasized. The order of interventions was changed for all age groups except newborns, from airway breathing - chest compressions (ABC), to chest compressions - airway breathing (CAB). The most important aspects of CPR are, few interruptions of chest compressions, a sufficient speed (100 - 120 compressions per minute) and depth of compressions, completely relaxing pressure between compressions and not ventilating too much. An exception to this recommendation is for those believed to be in a respiratory arrest (airway obstruction, drug overdose, etc.). A normal CPR procedure uses chest compressions and ventilations (rescue breaths) (CAB). The recommended compression-to-ventilation ratio, for all victims of any age, is 30:2 (a cycle that alternates continually between 30 rhythmic chest compressions and 2 rescue breaths - repeat). However, ventilations could be omitted for untrained rescuers aiding adults who suffer a cardiac arrest, or if the first responder is on their own. Cheers!

As Script Writer noted on a recent discussion with Jeff on WorldClassBullshitters YT channel, the script for this film was at least 80 percent, maybe 100, done with an A.I. program like ChatGPT. That's why the story is absolutely garbage.

I love that you threw in the 12 monkeys scenes. A thoroughly underrated movie. One of my all time favorites. After seeing it in the theater, my friends and I had a discussion for hours and hours about what happened in the end

Really? I admit, I found it pretty boring. I didn't even know there was anything to discuss about the ending, it seemed pretty clear cut.

This is one of your best reviews, I actually laughed out loud at some of those comparisons between a cyborg and this "person".

I would not be surprised if Cyborg-Lady drove the stolen taxi to JFK airport and parked it in the long term parking garage.

7:46 our first female her-o upside down tilt head. (For some reason all her-os have to awkwardly tilt their head to the side when in a fight. (Asoka Does it when fighting the robots)

The ending, with the credits rolling and a music playing, is fine.

You're wrong about CPR. The most important part of it is the compressions on the thorax. The mouth to mouth is the second most important and if you can't do it, as long as you keep the compressions while the ER Team arrives, it helps a lot circulating the blood through the victim's body.

I'm getting tired of saying this repeatedly but we had LCDs in 2003. We had LOT of them. We had them well before 2003. Theres a TV show called Sports Night that ran from 1998 to 2000. You all need to go watch like maybe one episode. Its not unreasonable a rich supervillain had tons of LCD's in his secret lab. We actually had some widescreen LCD's in 2003, just not as many. In 2004 I bought a widescreen LCD with a refresh so good I was able to play video games on it.

Genius! I wonder if this logic could be applied to explain (justify?) other terrible performances in terrible movies (e.g. Jon Voight in Anaconda, Tommy Wiseau in The Room, Brie Larson in Captain Marvel, John Travolta in Battlefield Earth, etc.)?

Showgirls is a satirical masterpiece! It never fails to make me laugh. The pool scene aneurysm-fakegasm is hysterical. Madame Web sounds like a Spiderman themed BDSM brothel. So at least the casting was spot on. Nice roast Monsieur Head 👍
