I’m researching about potential hip replacement. What I liked about this one is that it shows her in a living room chair and resting on the couch with her leg elevated, instead of just being in bed. More hopeful recovery advice. Thank you!

I had my right hip replaced in of Jan 2019. It went very well as I was in fairly good shape beforehand, for guy in his late 60s. I was up walking about 2 hrs after surgery.Just amazing. The physio was tough but hang in there ,it will get better. I think the main thing after any joint replacement is exercise. The surgeon did his job now it's time to do yours. This is now 8 months after surgery & I feel great apart from some numbness but I'm told that will go over time.

The major key, in my professional and practical opinion from experience, for fast recovery, is keeping the thigh and leg muscles from atrophying, (shrinking) Immediately after awakening from surgery flex your foot up and down repetitively non stop for at least the first six hours of awakening. I was out of hospital in 23 hours. 14 years ago at age 49 with a Posterior incision. Average recovery time was to expect 3 to 6 weeks.

I'm recovering from Total Hip Replacement, and doing well after more than 3 weeks. I have been doing most of these exercises at home - usually a few sets each, and about 3 times daily. The fact that I am constantly moving seems be very beneficial. If I sit too long (watching TV or at the computer), I tend to stiffen up a bit. Helps to get up and move around. One more thing: the ankle pumps are a great exercise. They are very easy to do and you can do them anytime while lying down or sitting. But 3000 times a day!!!? Is this guy nuts? Even if I did 30 reps at a time, I would have to do that 100 times daily!!! TOO UNREALISTIC! When would a person have any time left to do all the OTHER exercises? Not mention all the other tasks of bathing, dressing, food prep, eating, house keeping, pet supervision and resting in between. I live alone with 3 dogs, so my day is quite full. I try to do about 100 ankle pumps a day. That seems to work fine for me.

first, NO it will NOT be like this forever, just the first month, eat + sleep + exercise, don't worry about anything else for the first month. It is a long process to recover from this extensive trauma. I am past my 6 month and pretty close to back to normal. I am looking for people who have had the hip replacement, ESPECIALLY if you had the additional problem of “hip pop out” and had to have it reset. If you would like to help other people deal - contact me PM or here, I am trying to build a comprehensive video and lack this data: the event of “pop-out” and specifically any indicators or feelings prior and during that incident. What were you doing to cause it and any other minor points that you could think of.

@wisdomfromthewoods3638
@wisdomfromthewoods3638 4 жыл бұрын
@@claudiavlz3534 you have options, 1. get second opinion, 2. get info on your options, as to surgery/ replace/ repair, 3. be prepared by setting your house up with the clear paths, handholds in shower and such, pick up a walker at a thrift store cause the hospital will charge $100, 4. if a replacement is only option then be as prepared ahead of time. Have the mindset to exercise very regularly several times a day. For me, it was no warning, Boom! The next day I have a metal hip. Plan on 3 months of serious eat properly, exercise a lot, keep an aggressive attitude for Winning. After 6 months you should be mostly moble, but be cautious with actions. After 12 months you should be mostly back to normal activities. The device is inserted into the bone, so twisting is bad, that is also what they mean by "pop out" if the metal comes loose from the bone. This is the first 3 months, that with good diet and exercise and no 'bad moves' / this allows the bone to properly grow and attach. Other things to do is grill the doctor for explanations, remember, they only put them in, they don't have one. And research online / bob & brad for example,

Thanks for exercises for early rehab after total hip replacement. I am about 9 weeks after surgery. When do you think I can renew rebounding, at least for the Health Bounce? I've used the rebounder before but I am 85 now, and cautious but eager to use it as part of my rehab. Would love your advice. Thanks.😍 ps: I've recently learned I have osteoporosis in my hips and lower spine, so another question is: what do you think about rebounding for increasing bone density? I'm not going to go the medical treatment route. Please advise on this too. I do sooo appreciate your help.

+Chris Cooley Our physical therapist offered up the following advice for you. Good luck! If you are in a public bathroom with stalls, use the larger handicapped bathroom, which always has a raised toilet. If you visit friends' homes or have a lower toilet, the key is to slide the foot of the surgical side forward as you sit down, so you don't bend too much or break precautions. The same is true with standing up; you should keep that foot out in front while standing.
