She makes it look so easy and pain free. I’m on day 7 of my partial knee replacement and my knee is so stiff. I’ve been walking around and trying to flex my knee when I walk but it’s just so stiff
@dorineanderson96783 жыл бұрын
It’s 3 weeks since my total knee replacement, and my knee is so stiff as well. My knee healed so fast and scar tissue followed, which makes my knee feel like it’s incased in a block of cement, it’s not flexing. It looks like I have to get a knee manipulation, and better aggressive therapy. Very stressful.

This is the last video I'l watch, so many folks report how well its going. The replacement is the 19th op on my knee, I'd had septic arthritis, nearly lost my leg and absolutely everything has scar tissue on it in the knee area, I'm at about 105 degrees after 4 months and I'm told I'm making amazing progress. Looking at how badly I am doing in comparison gets me down even though I know mine is different. It normally makes me smile to see others doing well but there is so much pain still its getting difficult. I can walk for miles, have been doing stairs properly since week 4 and not used walking aids since week 3 but, oh boy! the pain has been off the charts. I'm only posting this for others who have also had even more complicated replacements, it's ok, keep going and keep your spirits up. Remember, we all have different situations and it's ok if you are doing differerntly as long as you are doing the work. To those who are doing better than I, good luck going forward and keep up the good work, I know from previous operations I've had, like ACL reconstructions, that reading others doing well is inspiring. I'll sign off with this, I'm struggling but I'm winning, I'm upset but working and, I'm able to walk on sand, mud, grass without it giving way, I walked 12 miles last week in one day and today I cycled on my static cycle till my muscles didn't work..not my joint ;-)

It cracks me up how they perfect this unique new language to soften the blow of getting knee replacement surgery. First of all, you don't get a day or two - to rest and recover from the surgery & anesthesia. They practically haul your buttes straight to Physical therapy after a couple hours sleep. I think PT is in the morning and night .... maybe even afternoon. At least it seemed like it. They tend to give you Tramadol (a placebo) for pain. Good luck. You can forget about an opiate ... that's only for doctors, nurses and rich people. Then around 2-3 days in, you get taken to a room to sit in a chair that looks like a toilet seat and the nurse washes you. Everywhere! So make sure you lose weight before surgery. If you think it would help, watch a knee replacement surgery on You Tube. Its riveting.
@hildavandermeulen64453 жыл бұрын
Tramadol is a low level narcotic... The sooner you get up the better...
@1alicepop3 жыл бұрын
Tramadol is a powerful painkiller but I won’t take it as I get spaced out with it. I have paracetamol and Codeine to sleep . During the day I take paracetamol on its own for pain. Something non codeine and non nonsaids would be great. I am day 5 post op. I can manage stairs, sit down and get out of a chair, walk to the loo and back . I use ice pack on my knee 4 times a day. Next trip out is for Doppler test on my leg on day 10.

Susie, This was not my experience at all. I just had knee replacement surgery and it was the best experience ever. I do have oxycodone for pain which is a narcotic. (I am not rich, and I am not a doctor). You have to be very careful not to become addicted. I went home a couple hours after my surgery. I showered on my own the very next day. Physical therapy right away is essential because you are in a race against scar tissue so if you don’t want to have a limp for the rest of your life, you have to do the exercises. They are painful but necessary

Why not use patients that have had surgery ... it gives a false impression of recovery when someone is pain free and no undergone surgery.
@susiearviso30324 жыл бұрын
For the doctors, its all about extracting money from the patients. When I had my knee replacement, I slept all night. Physical Therapy began the first morning and again at night for 2-3 days. Once you leave the hospital, you begin go to Physical therapy everyday for the next 30 days except for the weekend. I reached my goal in 2 weeks. I wanted to leave therapy because i met my goal, but they chewed me out and coerced me to keep coming. The woman pressured me to finish the last 2 weeks of PT. She insisted I still needed to go. (Why would a person still need to attend PT when they already met their goal? ) I'll tell you why. Because if you don't keep coming for the 30 days, they lose big money. Its all about MONEY.

@SnappingKameChan5 жыл бұрын
Most protocol is ambulation/walking the day of surgery and exercises the next day. The amount and/or "intensity" of exercises vary according to the individual. But the key is not to remain immobile since it's essentially "a race against scar tissue". (As scar tissue begins forming as soon as the surgery is completed, since that is the body's natural response.) Hope this helps. 😊

+Susan Marcotte hi Susan, i'm Susan, also. i just had total k.r. done on Mr 16th. pure hell, because my surgery involved putting reebar on top and bottom of the implant, because i didnt have enough bone to connect to. my surgery took over 3 hours. the most painful thing i have ever done and now, i need my other one done, but honestly, I am cringing at the thought... I had to go to a skilled nursing facility, after my 3 day stay in the hosp., because i have 2 flights of stairs going up to my apt., then another steep one going up tp my bedroom. I stayed at that facility for 15 days, had to beg for ice, wait sometimes almost 45 min before they responded to giving me a pain killer and didnt give me enough PT.. so, now i am home, happier in my own environment, but scared to death of falling down my stairs. i didnt feel safe to go home, but they discontinued my therapies and said medicare would not pay past my discharge date. Now, I have to wait for my outpatient PT to start in 2 days, but in the meantime, without therapy guidance, i am trying on my own to follow youtube videos on t.k.r. exercises. for anyone out there reading this, food for thought..

The dr. thinks he got it all out of the fatty tissue and felt that it had not gone beyond it... Hopefully! I am on a heavy duty course of IV antibiotics, Vancamycin, because I am allergic to so many antibiotics. Everybody reading this please pray for me. thank you

+Bob Dillow ....Bob I am so sorry to hear that you still are having knee pain after your replacement surgery. I too, THINK that my knee pain will disappear if I have knee replacement. My problem is that I can not find a doctor willing to take a chance on doing the surgery. You see, I have extreme knock-knees, and I suffer from MS. My knees are so crooked that I might be in worse shape after the replacement than I am right now. There is no guarantee that surgery will be successful on ANY knee. Also, it would be impossible for me to rehabilitate as I can not lift my legs because of muscle atrophy. My MS and knee deformity have doomed me to pain. But after the experience that you're going through, I may just accept my fake and consider my blessings. Although very slowly, I can still walk. I keep being told that I might be in a wheelchair if I have the knee surgery. In a wheelchair with brand new knees is real cute, ain't it! I hope you are not still thinking about amputating your leg. You thinking about doing that tells me the level of your pain was damn near unbearable!!! You are not alone. There are those of us who can relate to what you're going through. Getting old is a b***h! We have to consider the alternatives, try to focus on our blessings and stay strong.

Appreciate seeing how these exercises should be performed however the chair she is sitting in is way to close to the floor. The whole chair is collapsing down to about a foot off the floor. You have to be seated in a chair that's 2 to 4 inches higher than an average dining room chair or you will have terrible pain in the knee. Actress obviously hasn't had surgery and makes it look easy. Swelling in the knee wouldn't allow this movement from this type of chair.
