A Guide to Video Encoders for Live Streaming

Hey loved the video just wanted to bring up one thing. With social distancing most ppl have been forced to livestream from home, and if you have a project with many artist then you have a lot of musicians sharing remotely. looking for a video that focuses on comparing video encoding software + cloud services.(features are openly advertised by little info on the actual strength/speed/latency build up of the software). Looking for a work horse that can reduce latency!

That video was really instructive, +1 Subscriber. What kind of encoder device would you recommend for someone that stream live concerts with a lot of moving lights and camera movements? I create 3D virtual concerts and i'm really struggling with the picture quality right now, wether the bitrate or the resolution, thank you! :)

Gary, thanks so much for the valuable information! I'm in the market and curious as to why BlackMagic products were not included in this video. Perhaps you simply don't carry them? But I'm very interested in products like the ATEM Mini (despite their perpetual backorder), especially for the price point. Do you have any thoughts on these?

Videoguys.com doesn't carry Blackmagic design products so we really just focus on the products we know. We actually use the products we sell and can speak from a place of authority on them.

You forgot to tell people about a FREE software solution , don't buy al the fancy software for crazy money when you can use FREE OBS STUDIO (open broadcaster software) !!!

OBS is a great solution to get started with. From there, when it is time to step up your stream Wirecast would be a great successor to expand your toolbox. In addition, many times a hardware encoder will meet a users needs better as a software solution like OBS will only be as good as the computer it is running on. Hello, can I ask for advice? we are looking for contractor to put our traffic CCTV in an expressway to a live streaming server (minimum of 6 IP CCTV). Most of our supplier are requiring us to have 100mbps and some even require us instead of on premise server is they prefer ICloud service that for us is too much expensive. We are wanting to stream a feed from the computer sending charts to our projector. What I am doing now is coming out of the Macmini to a HDMI Distribution Amplifier. We are taking one HDMI feed to a HDMI to Base T converter sending that up to the Projector. We want to take another feed to a video encoder and send that to our Network Router. We are not trying to go to the Internet. We have no Internet service in our building. All we want is for people in the building be able to see the charts on their smart device. We would like for them to get it through an ip address direct on their Device or possibly use the VLC app on them even.
