Just watching this today and because of your videos on how quickly corrosion happens I managed to fix my keyboard. I have a Corsair RGB mechanical keyboard, can never remember which, and I spilled soda that got in from the bottom. I immediately unplugged it, disassembled it, dried it and cleaned with alcohol. I was able save it by doing this and acting quickly!

2:20 one night I had a migraine and was stumbling for tylonol and I dumped a whole glass of water over a laptop that was at least powered off.... Even with the migraine I flipped on a light and dismantled it fully in about 5 minutes. then dried the water and cleaned the board. Left it to dry and set overnight went back to bed (not even getting tylonol). Reassembled it in morning. Still working to this day years later (it's a hackintosh now) :)

I just rewatched a video on the trouble of modern tractor repair and saw you, Louis Rossman, in that video standing in court for a Right to Repair case I assume. Its amazing how everything is more connected then you sometimes realize.

The rice will eventually dry out the equipment. The rice creates a dry air mass which will soak up the water that evaporates, and the cycle continues. Things move from a high concentration to a lower concentration. If you want the rice to work well, you need to add some heat. The alcohol would be faster.

Louis has a few videos showing moisture oxidising & reacting with the board components & joints within seconds on contact when the device is switched on. That's too fast for rice or silica gel to work. Let's be clear - prevention is the best cure to water damage, and when prevention fails, water damage requires proper cleaning & repair procedures. Rice is lazy, basic, superficial, and ultimately B.S. - especially when it comes to Apple devices that cost Fabergé egg prices with Fabergé egg durability.

After the 2020 election and before 2023, you should be able to secure a great deal in a buyers market, getting favorable allowances and low costs. Be brave. There will tons of small businesses that go bust and all sorts of excellent location, shop space available. Your business fixing Mac's should be resilient with the continued use of older computers, as people forgo upgrading as they economize and become more frugal, in the new economic reality of a post-apocalyptic, zombie economy of 2021 and beyond. I've only recently found your web site and enjoy the tours through the guts of all the Mac Books. I'm utilizing my basic electronic circuits skills learned during my Physic Degree for optics instrumentation and my e-gun and plasma-gun power supplies that I used to run in the high-vacuum industry. I just gave a Mac Book to my nephew who is off to UCSC and should anything go wrong with the computer, I'll know where to send it or at least ask for help (even though I bought the extended service contract for the unit as well). Good to hear a differing opinion about the reality of the genius-bar. Personally, I've had good luck with them, swapping out a hard drive, but that's got to be so basic a task. I've done a lot of PC builds and maintenance but never anything on Mac's. Mostly because of the lack of simple tools to open them up and lack of service manuals and internet tutorials. Your teaching really is a worldwide and world-class service. Thanks a lot, best of luck in the future, keep up the good work and good spirits!

The reason I use lead free is that with lead solder little hairs develop on solder point when using high voltage and you don't want that with high voltage which is also why I cover solder point with silicon mask which for some reason does not stick to leaded solder

hey bro i have a question and i hope you can be able to answer it in this rush.. so i have a iphone 6s and the battery was replaced from oem to aftermarket and it worked okay, later on this battery got bulged so i replaced it again and this time i replaced it with a cheap one. so when i replaced it the phone did not turn on at all even didnt show battery is low even when i put it on charge for one hour no use. ao i went back to that shop i purchased the battery he replaced with other battery and it turned on fine then he said the charging ic is not working thats why your facing this issue.. but i feel like its the cheap battery.. so i asked him to give me another one. so when he gave me i managed to charge it upto 100% n i formated my iphone completely so no wifi no bluetooth was on but the battery drains soo fast while its just sitting on table not doing anything.. and this time when it drained completely it did the same no icons no turning on till i tried to hold volume button home button and power button then it turned on.. so basically its still draining the battery fast.. so my concern is.. is it charging ic the reason or the battery it self? what can be the cause of draining battery ??
