I recommand you watch sabaton history channel they go in depth about the history and a little about the song itself This song is about the battle of wizna where 720 polish soldiers (with no real anti tank equipment) held out for 3 days against the german army 40,000 strong with air support and hundreds of tanks captain reginis said he would face his fate there and after 3 days he ordered his men to surrender after running out of ammo but true to his word captain reginis killed himself by clutching a grenade in his command bunker

If you want, Go check out/react to Sabatons legendatry concert Woodstock Poland . Where there were more than 600 000 in the crowd! Songs like "Uprising" or "Ghost Division" were among the best ones there. The concert was broadcasted LIVE in Polish television...as the area wasnt big enough for all fans I believe.

The song "40:1" is a tribute to the heroes of the Battle of Wizna in September 1939, in which fewer than 600 Polish soldiers held off over 30 000 Nazi German soldiers for 3 days. The song's title "40:1" refers to the overwhelming odds of the battle and the lyrics tell the tale of the brave Polish soldiers defying the odds against them and ultimately prevailing. The chorus of the song encapsulates this message, with lyrics such as "Spirit of Spartans/ Death and glory/ Soldiers of Poland/Second to none/ Wrath of the Wehrmacht brought to a halt." Through the song, Sabaton shows tribute and respect for the Polish soldiers for their courage, bravery, and heroism in the face of such extreme odds. Great song, great reaction.

Niedokładnie. Bo 730 , a dokładnie 728 żołnierzom i nie żołnierzy, a funkcjonariuszom Korpusu Ochrony Pogranicza. Batalionu słabo uzbrojonych i raptem w cztery działa lekkie i kilka karabinów ppanc i maszynowych, przeciwko 42 tysiącom żołnierzy niemieckich wspartych czołgami, samolotami i dywizjom piechoty. Czy Termopile? Tak, ale po co?kapitan Raginis, mógł swoją wiedzą pomóc armii podziemnej, a nie honorowo i bez sensu zginąć. Sorry, ale dla mnie to bez sensu. 😮

The Poles historically have been some of the best soldiers in Europe. They were a major part in holding the Ottomans back at the famous siege of Vienna. Plus holding the line against the Russian empire for centuries.

In this video you see "Sabaton 1.0". In 2012 both guitarists and the drummer left the band. Fortunately, most of the songs are written by Pär (the bass player) and Joakim (the singer), who remained and were joined by other great musicians to continue the great work.

And do you know, dear ladies, what they defended with their lives? Because it was far from their family there. Children and wives. Maybe you don't understand it, but for Poles, defending women is the highest value. Because women give us life. And we appreciate you for that. You and our children are more important.

The Battle of Wizna was fought between 7 and 10 September 1939 between the forces of Poland and Germany during the initial stages of the invasion of Poland, which marked the beginning of World War II in Europe. According to Polish historian Leszek Moczulski, between 350 and 720 Poles defended a fortified line for three days against more than 40,000 Germans. [1] Although defeat was inevitable, the Polish defense halted the attacking forces for three days and postponed the encirclement of the independent operative....

You mentioned the drummer ... well, this was not their current drummer Hannes Van Dahl (A.K.A. the loving and suitably tall husband of Floor Jansen and father of their two presumably future titanic children), but Daniel Mullback, part of the, so far, longest lasting Sabaton lineup from 2001-2012. Very unexpectedly, four out of six members of Sabaton collectively jumped ship following the recording, but prior to the release, of the 2012 "Carolus Rex" album. Only singer and sole songwriter Joakim Brodén and bassist Pär Sundström remained to recruit new members - one of them being Hannes, who had only recently had his major break as a member of Evergrey, another major force on the Swedish metal scene. Thankfully, and as you may have noticed, this overhaul of lineup did not impede the band's momentum in the slightest. On the contrary, "Carolus Rex" promoted Sabaton from very popular to certified rockstars in their native Sweden, and internationally their career has just kept on soaring ever higher with every subsequent release. Their lineup has remained MOSTLY stable since then: the only exception being one of the two guitarist posts, that has been vacated not once but now twice, with the recent departure of Tommy Johansson - who understandably felt the need to focus on his other band Majestica, where he is both the songwriter and singer, rather than Sabaton, where for obvious reasons he was neither.

To date, all of the band changes in Sabaton have been amicable partings. The 2012 breakup was due to the leaving members wanting to tour less, and they formed the band Civil War, which also using history themes for their music (you should check out their song "Rome is Falling" or their songs about the American Civil War). Others left due to family issues. The fact is the heart of Sabaton is Joakim (who write almost all the music) and Par (who handles the business side and co-writes the lyrics with Joakim). As long as they stay committed to the band, Sabaton will go on producing great music since there will always be exceptional musicians wanting to join the band. BTW, if you check the Sabaton blogs, they have a cool video showing Hannes auditioning with his interesting story about how he ended up with his current name.

Have to point out that Sabaton has changed the band members over time, and the drummer you are refferring to wishing to see more is most likely Hannes, the current drummer, which is not the drummer in this video. You did see him on that tank in "En Livstid i Krig" and "1916". Btw, Tommy is leaving Sabaton for his own band, so soon there will be yet another guitarrist. But our Chris is still in the band, thankfully :) Maybe now people will remember him again, coz he is also amazing.

The first September 1939 Germany started their war against Poland and it was the start of WW2. This song is about the battle of Wizna six days later when the Polish soldiers was outnumbered with over 40:1 but they held the ground for three days. Some argues that it was only 350 Polish soldiers against more than 40 000 Germans. 🤓🇸🇪
