The Warsaw Uprising broke out on August 1, 1944 at 5 p.m. It lasted 63 days although it was planned for 9-11 days. The music video uses real films from the Warsaw Uprising. Both films made by Poles and Germans. What was shown in the video is a gentle picture of what happened in occupied Warsaw and during the uprising. At the beginning of the music video, an order is signed - for one German killed, 100 Poles are to die. The Germans destroyed 80% of the city. Germany and its allies had no mercy for anyone. In the Wola district of Warsaw alone, several thousand women, children and men died within a few days. After these events, all insurgents knew that if they surrendered, they would die. So they fought until the end.

Also to add to your comment. The poles were hopeful that the Russians would help them because the Russians were near. But Stalin had paused the offensive and let the Germans level the Warsaw ghetto

@@robertsistrunk6631 Stalin stop offensive for two reasons... 1) after Operation Bagration most of forces near Warsawa were at less than 80-90% states and was exhausted after more then 40 days of constant fights... if soviet forces get order to continuing in fight, this forces wouldn't be possible to deploy in the next six months or more and this decision would only causes more losses with nearly zero effects or only extend war forn few moths... replenishing and resuppling took only three months and was reasonable decision... even suppling uprising from airfields by american bombers would complicate job for soviet air forces, near airfields were needed, and empty airfields were too far for effective supply lines for uprising.... 2) uprising were nacionalistic, not socialistic, and there is also politics reason that participate on decision to not help Poles

When you're going to watch Sabaton, also watch their history channel (the icon at the bottom left of the video) here's the background to their songs with a history from Texas to all their songs They tour with more bands so you can discover more bands there Given that you like this one, you should listen to "inmat 4859" and "40:1" and check out the story part with and comment on it (can cut comments after the music video) (some songs i like are "night witches" "no bullets fly" (check out the animated story) "attack from dead man" and "82nd all the way"

Its a sad story this, the allies had helped the warzaw liberation organisation and promiced to send soldiers when the uprising would start. When the uprising started the allies concentrated their armies elsewhere so the uprising failed but many german soldiers was tied up in this fight helping the allies. One of my favourite songs of Sabaton

Sabaton puts once again the spotlight on a piece of WW2 history that is sadly overlooked in western history books. This time perhaps because it puts UK and US in a bit of bad light. Near the end of WW2 then the Polish civilians in occupied Warsaw tried to throw out the German forces. The Nazis responded violently and forcefully. Polish resistance hoped for help from US or UK, but it never came. The allies had an agreement to not step on each other toes, and the eastern front was the Soviet Union's scene of war. Meanwhile the Soviet Union did not look favourable on Poland, being the past gateway for every invasion into Russia, thus their army decided to stop right outside the city, allowing Nazi Germany to surround and kill the last pockets of resistance. See Sabaton's history channel for more information.

Warsaw uprising was led by Armia Krajowa, polish nationalistic insurjency. Soviet headquarters let Armia Krajowa be massacred, so they won't resist socialistic revolution and USSR control over Polland once nazis are defeated.

Sabaton are masters of storytelling, and this song is about the Nazi invasion of Poland and noone come to their help. The high Nazi officer you see in the video are the swedish actor Peter Stormare, a huge fan of Sabaton. And by the way, Sabaton are from Sweden and not germany as Rammstein.

I would never want to see Sabaton together with Rammstein, it's a crap band. Then all the music Sabaton makes is about reality, which Rammstein is not. Then Sabaton probably doesn't want to be associated with a band that uses drugs.

Great reaction!🤘 As the history buff and metalhead I am, Sabaton is the perfect match for me musicaly! Check out "Devil dogs" (official music video), "To Hell and back" (official music video), "No bullets fly" (animated story video) and "82:nd all the way" (official lyric video). Some American history there😉.
