Flying is like amongst type i'd say have extremely high peak and is arguably game changing for the entirety of Pokemon history(quick example that comes to mind - how much can you start clicking Earthquake), is surpisingly underrated. Its power level is kinda obvious too even in game with how solid Flying types tend to be despite its obvious weakness(Rock/Steel types) that highlights how busted they are too since flier that broke past them can then have a free reign to do whatever it want. Theres arguably an entire archetype in the game for pokemon who would be ridiculous if they are actually a flying instead of just quasi-flying(Aerodactyl, Dragonite, Gyarados, Salamence type) and everytime they get to experience a snapshot of that, they just get exposed to be ridiculous Although my favorite Flying type moments have to be gen 7 - yes Wind = speed make sense but imagine being this giga busted type and gamefreak just decided to give their type as a whole a nuke that boosts your speed. Surely it won't define the entire generation when its alvailable

Gen 4 Little Cup is definitely a very ........ polarizing type of thing, not because it's bad but because it's so fast that it's definitely not for everyone's taste, even myself as a LC lover (and LC is already a very fast paced tier as a whole and tends to attract players who like fast paced meta), I consider the gen 4 version to be too much for my taste and I know that I am far from the only one on that camp. It's definitely a VERY interesting tier to talk about that's for sure (also, it's really weird how most of the meta mons for gen 4 LC are rare to non existent in subsequent gens and only a select few of them saw continued play afterwards, and a large number of the popular early gen mons of later gens are not that great in gen 4, or at least not as great. This metagame is in many ways truly remarkable when it comes to LC

Some minor aspects of what happened in gen 8: losing z moves was a hit, but fliers got the monstrosity of boots instead. Corvinight killed skarm, Zapdos feels like it can do everything now that it has boots and hurricane and weather ball. Mandibuzz isn't used in the current meta but before all of the bans dropped it was the only thing holding the meta together at multiple points. Dnite is either a terrifying sweeper or an annoying support that can use multiscale reliably. Torn is now unkillable because of boots. Galar Moltres is an occasional all or nothing sweeper in hyper offense, and galar Zapdos is a menace of a wall breaker that kills itself way too fast but will almost always take something with itself

You say you can't talk at all about Gen 9, but tbh Gen 9 VGC of all things is what brought me to your channel. New metagames are very volatile, and learning what each Pokemon has historically been able to do is a hint away from trend chasing and towards building a team that is actually unique and viable. I don't care if you don't understand the format, I'd still be hella interested in talking to you about my Baton Pass Oricorio and how he's been able to function as a pseudo-Zapdos in a meta that has none. ❤

I think gen 3 Goodra would be interesting, because before the physical special split, its only weaknesses are on it higher defense stat, and while its physical defense isn't incredible, it only has to deal with neutral hits there. It's also basically the only notable pokemon that would be immune to powders and leech seed via Sap Sipper, so has some great opportunity to switch in. I'm no expert by any means but to me, it seems like it basically just challenges Blissey as the go-to special wall, but trades ice and dragon vulnerability for better physical durability and significantly better offensive presence.

Machamp is not as bad as it seems vs skarmory in gen 2, skarmory's drill peck almost always need 3 hits from full hp, so a crit cross chop and suddenly you make that skarmory sweat. Its not a favorable match-up, but certainly the most scary physical pokemon for skarmory to handle.

It's not that Fire DOESN'T resist Ice. It's the mechanics of the game. So the game will either acknowledge the weakness or the resist of one of the two types, rather than the two types making it a neutral.

In gen 1 only fire takes neutral damage from ice. So ice moves on Zard and Moltres in gen 1 are supereffective.
