A home tour to say goodbye an empty home before it sold

I returned to our empty home before it sold and said goodbye. Would you like to join me in this whole house tour to see what our home looked like without all of the furniture, accessories, and thrift store finds? Now I get to start over! I have to remind myself it took me three years to make our house feel like a home and I still had more I wanted to do, but Sugarwood came along and the timing was right. Even though everything fits, I can't say I love everything in our new home compared to our old home, so I have decided to allow myself to take a step back, decide what we will keep and what will go and enjoy the process of remodeling and decorating our home.
I believe fine living and happiness begins within ourselves and at home. My goal is to help you find your own version of fine living, no matter how simple or grand that may be, no matter where you live. I'm about three minutes in and had to stop and say yes, it is VERY different empty (still beautiful) but it's certainly a testament to your natural ability for home decor and that there is hope to make any home beautiful, if you know how. Knowing that with my husband’s job with DOD we would be moving every 3-5 years, I just haven’t let myself fall in love with any of the houses we bought, and we bought one with every move. I thought this last move from PA to AZ would be the last until we have to for our health, but we’re now talking about finding something closer to town. It’s funny how sometimes the first thing the new homeowners changed was the very thing I thought someone would love most.

I have hardwood floors in my house, even in the kitchen and bathrooms, and I would never change it. It is warm in the winter and cool in the summer. It is so easy to care for, even with kids and dogs. I hope the new folks will give it a try before changing it. Great job Linda, be sure to let us know about your consignment location!

I live in a 1931 Craftsman and had water issues a handful of years ago in the upstairs bathroom. Since the bathroom is above the kitchen, it had to be ripped apart down to the studs, and the dated linoleum removed. Lo and behold, there were beautiful hardwood floors beneath. I chose to keep them and had them refinished. I LOVE the hardwood floors in my kitchen as well as all of the floors in my home. To each their own, I know, but I sure hope the new owners don’t replace the hardwood floors with tile.

Me too - we have hardwoods in the kitchen and all three bathrooms. To me, even though this home is only seventeen years old, it has the look and feel of an older home.

Oh wow, it’s a bit of a shock. I’ll miss the intro, so I saved it. (I know how you feel walking away. I just gave my granddaughter my little 2004 Jeep. May I ask the significance of the peony you've moved so much? I may have missed it in a prior video as I'm a newish subscriber (and I'm crazy about your channel . . . We really are kindred spirits!). I ask because I, too, have moved a peony to every home. It was from my dad's gardens and I've moved it with me for almost 30 years. I also have moved a bleeding heart that first bloomed on the day of his funeral. I grow a Don Juan climbing rose at each house in his honor as it was his favorite.
