We ended up with international million selling rock band Bad Company, a Tony Blair favourite, they played an hour or so set in the Washington Suite . I've never met so many famous people in one go. I'm an American with a BA in history and I can tell you that the British Empire during the Victorian era is probably my favorite subject. There will probably never be another nation so advanced and on top of everything relative to its time, from science and philosophy, to economy and military, as Britain was in this period, except possibly the U.S. in the 1990s. The point I'm trying to make is that all of this pride is instilled in this beautifully constructed Victorian architecture. Modern architecture has lost its artistic value. In my opinion, buildings, which represent a community's development, doesn't just serve a utility purpose but a psychological purpose. I think the happiness index would increase if this artistic style was more prominent in modern architecture. Even with its modern overtones and slight run-down appearance, this hotel is still beautiful, but the photographs really show its peak grandeur. Remarkable.

Despite it's obvious faults it's a really grand and beautiful hotel with plenty of character and history from back in the day. I was also very pleasantly surprised about the price but in a good way, a suite including Breakfast and in August I must say that is definitely good value and reasonable too. Well done on the new sponsorship, definitely a useful travel plug adaptor which I might consider getting for my trip to the USA in October. I have stayed at the Imperial Hotel many times since the 70’s. You should have stayed in one of the suites on the second floor, the Elizabethan or Churchill Suite, they have fantastic views from those rooms. For the quality of hotel it is very reasonably priced. The Corby trouser press, and other makes, was still a thing in the late seventies. My MIL bought my husband one for Christmas in 1978. Needing to wear a suit each day it was used nightly for several years. I also used it occasionally for my own clothing. . Very effective actually, depends I suppose on what clothes you needed to wear professionally. Most of the larger hotels installed them, I remember the Scarisbrick in Southport still had theirs in 2004. Please would you think about visiting some of the Country House Hotels throughout the UK. I would like to thank you for not using the bad language that some other reviewers think we want to hear. I am surprised that it has been allowed to slip through. tbh I don’t think those reviewers would fit in venues such as the CountryHouse Hotels.

On my way up the stairs, a most beautiful woman, in a silk house coat, was walking down to the restaurant. She was singing to herself "When I wish upon a star" for some reason, and as a 17 year old youth, I was dazzled when she glanced at me as we passed by on the staircase.
