I've said it before, you have a knack for being in the right place at the right time... Really cool catch!

Races are indeed exciting. This was a very lucky catch. The oil train is much slower than the mixed freight, but they look great side by side. The location is also nice with the winding river and the busy highway. I'm sure the full length video will be amazing. Thank you for the cool trailer Dan.

Thanks so much Z! This was a pretty good day of trains as a whole so yes there will be more to enjoy.

Very nice indeed, but I would call it a "meet and pass" rather than a "race". Another great catch regardless, Bro! Keep up the good work(👍🏿🥂

the shot of them going away from the drone at 2:45. dang, that looked really good. and right after where you got both the rear end power.

Nice catch-knowing nothing is forever the manifest/vehicle train has priority over the ethanol unit train. Looking forward to seeing the rest.

Did you see the occupied eagle/hawk/owl nest on top of the pole at 1:19 and again at 3:25? I was thinking for a moment the birds might scramble, and your drone might be getting escorted out of the airspace! That was another sweet timing catch for you. That trip to see Big Boy has really turned-out many additional trains in such beautiful locations. In 2009, I caught an eastbound 844 in that first curve in the video. 🤠👍
@TheRailfanDan2 ай бұрын
Yes I did see that! I actually filmed 4014 and 844 here 5 years ago and that nest was there then also! Oh man I captured so much more than just the 4014 it was amazing! Still have quite a bit to work on a post from that time. I captured quite a bit on the Pocatello Sub between Pocatello and Granger that I haven't even posted any of yet.

@@TheRailfanDan Often those nests are used year-after-year for many years. As for the rest of your videos, I'll be here to watch all the goodies! 🤠👍

How do you manage to coordinate these great train meets or races, Dan? I am talking videos like this one with the train race on the Union Pacific's Evanston Subdivision and the video that had of Union Pacific trains on both sides of a river (Was it the Feather River?) when the train on the former Western Pacific trackage crossed the river and crossed over the other Union Pacific train that was on former Southern Pacific trackage. I enjoyed watching these two trains winding side-by-side on the Evanston Subdivision. The drone footage in this video was fantastic! (Posted 19 October 2024 at 1507 CDT.)

Hardly a "race." One train simply running around another.
@danielkingery28942 ай бұрын
One small correction... The tracks follow the river.😅 The river was there first. Train centric paradigm.
