Love the casual elegance of the top you are wearing. It was lovely to watch your Podcast with such a breathtaking background. Your roses and peonies for sure bring you joy and brought me joy, as well, from afar. My peonies bloomed already over a month ago, and they are my most favorite flower, too, along with our roses. I don't know what kind we have but they are red, yellow, orange and pink. Thank you for making the podcasts for us. They are filled with inspiration.

I say “others’ opinions are not my business.” Truly, each person can only express themselves. If I feel bad in some way, I look into myself to see why, then I can decide to apologize, change or let it go and move on. Life got so simple when I learned this! 🎉

Thank you for taking the time to share with us all. Your topics are always interesting. From your travels to your knitting projects. I am knitting a pair of socks, and have a lace pullover top on the needles. And also, I like to sew small projects. Currently, recovering to refresh old throw pillows for the sofas. But your tops and sweaters are all so very lovely. I’m ready to expand my knitting projects into more sweaters, cardigans and summer tops. Thank you again!

I started unravelling my first (and only) cardigan midway through watching this and then you brought up managing your stash, and that felt fitting. I am a bit sentimental about this cardigan, which I called my "anti-perfectionism" cardigan - it was my first foray into knitting garments and I did not want to make the process psychologically punishing. That being said, I never wear it, and I still love the yarn just as much as when I bought it - maybe more, as I know much more about yarn now! I think that the spirit of the cardigan will remain in whatever I make out of this yarn. Anyway, this is something I'm doing because I want badly to knit my first sweater and it's December as I write this so my budget is a bit tight. Also, living in a small apartment means my space is limited. If you want to limit your stash, I recommend picking a drawer or a box (or some other-sized but discrete container) and designating that as your yarn space, and not overflowing.

I am on the same page as you about accumulating yarn. It’s so fun to be able to ‘treat’ myself with this yarn that I find beautiful today. In the end it ends up making me feel guilty about it as the stash grows. It’s really a exercise in self control. No one is hurt if I buy it, but it starts to make me uncomfortable the more I acquire. I love your idea of trying to make every other project from the stash. Your work is beautiful btw. You inspire me.

Loved seeing your summer knits. I’m from Australia and most of the year we are able to enjoy our outdoor spaces. There’s only a few weeks in the winter where I get to wear my warm woolies. So I really appreciate seeing the summer knits as I can make and wear them for up to 6 months of the year around here. Thank you and take care 💚

Another lovely episode, Helle; I could listen to you for a long time, you have such a soothing voice and beautifu presence! I'd love to join a Nordic kal, and I like your approach without too many rules; I am right now knitting a pattern by Anne Ventzel 😊. A Joni top is next - your version is gorgeous, as is the other top you made! Finally, I loved seeing the flowers in your garden, and meeting your cat! I hope you are both still able to enjoy being oudoors. Be yourself no matter what they say - thanks to you and Sting for the reminder 🤍warm greetings from an Italian kntter in Scotland!

Ahhh, beautiful flowers, yarn, philosophy 😊. What pleasure to sit and listen while I happily knit away (Kutaar top). A treat all around, thank you! I‘ve developed a similar strategy for managing my yarn. I do one project which i planned (and purchased for) a while ago, then I might let myself spontaneously buy a new yarn, which I immediately cast on. That way I balance my „guilt“ and my indulgence. I‘ve definitely found that if I don’t soon cast on after buying, the yarn may languish for quite a while and meanwhile, my interest is on to a newer pattern. Happy knitting!

I am smiling listening to you talk about your stash and your Ravelry favourites because i had the exact same issue, except I was gifted lots of very expensive yarn. it made me feel bad I wasn't using it. So yesterday I used the Ravelry function of searching within my favourites and then inputting the yarn weight and yardage, and then i went "shopping" in my Favourites. Now, all the gifted yarn is assigned to a favourite item and is sitting in my Ravelry queue.

Thanks for all the inspiration! Here are some ideas I think about after watching your podcast: I liked how you stressed being mindful..... I, too, am attracted to Japanese designs. The designs completely avoid any staid look and have a touch of sophistication and playfulness. ....I like how you speak to your audience as if they are friends in your living room!....Your tops looked divine and the fit was perfect. Modelling them for us is very helpful.......Loved the snood and learned a new term too.....Your roses are very pretty and a perfect backdrop. I am looking forward to watching some of your podcasts I missed and catcing up with your Kuutar Top in the future. Until then thanks again!

I really appreciate your thoughtful comments about stash. I am one with a store-appearing stash. I was not so mindful early on in my knitting life, and definitely purchased many things because they were pretty, not necessarily because of how they would fit into my wardrobe and life. I do try to be more careful now, but that is a lot out of necessity - I lack space for too much more yarn! As for a lace summer cardigan - maybe you would consider Multnomah Falls by Kay Hopkins. It’s a beautiful cable and lace cardigan using a 100% Suri alpaca yarn that is so very soft. It’s named after a local very famous waterfall (I live in the same region as the designer). I hope you are someday able to attend some of the retreats and events based in the US! I would love to go to a FDF retreat, and went to Rhinebeck last year (as amazing as it looks). I love your podcast! 😊

My goodness it took me three sessions to watch this. Life has been interrupting me big time. I just adore your episodes, they are so lovely, even better when I can watch the whole thing in one sitting 🤭🤣 lovely as always Helle. I have turned into a squirrel a bit myself this year, not usual for me and quite amusing to experience. I’m pretty OK about the yarn I buy as I can purchase some through my business so I’m very lucky that way. I don’t have any yarn stores near me so I’m not tempted very often. My downfall is patterns 🫤 so now I know that I can only buy right when I’m ready to cast it on. Its not as sale if I change my mind a few months later - so no more for me. It’s been an interesting exercise in learning about myself. Im not really a shopper at all so this has been fun to find out new things about myself. Your garden is just glorious and those flowers just brought me so much joy 🌸💕 thanks for sharing, Karen

I, like you, become overwhelmed if I have too much in stash. Since I have been knitting 20+ years, I have a lot of leftovers and a few skeins that appealed to me at one point but don't anymore. My friend works at a women's prison, and she will take anything I don't want to the inmates. Knitting is wonderful therapy for them.

I wish I knew about being more mindful, of choosing nice yarns, and patterns , that you enjoy, and will wear forever, when I started knitting . Looking back, I feel like my time was wasted...and I don’t want life to slip away without getting my projects done. I’ve never held two yarns, regular and mohair, your projects look so soft and comfy . You’re very inspiring 💕☮️💫

When I knitted first sweater for my husband, he wasn't sure if he gonna wear it at all. It was so upsetting to hear, especially as it was a secret knit for one Christmas, I had to find place and time to knit when he couldn't see, and that was hard, and he is a broad shoulders tall man, size XXL for a sweater. But one day he had all his clothes in laundry and only had this sweater to wear, didn't have much choice 😄 when he came back home he was so happy, apparently he got a lot of compliments about his sweater 😄 and since then he loves when I knit for him 😊 knitting one for him right now, pattern of his choice this time 😊

Hello from France ! I also tripped over the "living in a yarn store" images from KZbin videos and overbought. I now have a no-buy project for yarn and patterns, unless I visit in person or am ready to cast on. I started this project a year and a half ago, I still have enough to knit for another two years, if not more.. Yarn comes our ways and finds the little spaces to reach you. At least that is what I learned so far. I do feel uncomfortable hoarding stuff even when I have a good reason 😺☀

Hi Helle, catching up on your videos. Always such a pleasure to follow your knitting adventures, your selections of patterns and yarns are beautiful as usual 🙏 I’m happy you tried Eri Shimizu patterns. I love her work and knitted numerous patterns from her. I love her spirit, the delicacy of her patterns. In the extremely soft yarn I would add: Walk Collection Luxe Fingering. It’s 10% cashmere, 20% silk, 70% alpaca. It’s a beautiful yarn. They have a DK one too that should be very soft. It’s a German company so it should be easy to order for you ☺️ Well that said it won’t help with your stash dilemma 😅 I feel very very bad about mine that is way too big. I agree with everything you said but I love yarn, colors, textures so much. I can’t help it 🙈😝

I love your summer knits. Its so hot here in summer not sure if it will be worth giving a summer knit a go but your pieces are gorgeous.Thank you so much for the talk on how much wool to have in your stash. I love having new projects going but also believe in recycling, so making sure to use the yarn I already have. I have loved using two yarns to work a beautiful jumper or cardigan but find the use of two different yarns and the expenditure a bit excessive for me personally. In Australia, though we grow a lot of the merino used all over the world - its very expensive and generally imported yarns are close to $30 per skein , making holding two yarns a project that would be close to $ 200 per jumper. So my stash is mostly limited to a couple of future projects and will buy when on sale.

You are the second KZbinr who has mentioned nutiden(sp?). Daki from Wool and the Forest uses it quite a bit. I don't remember if she has any videos containing information about your specific concern. About knitting/yarn festivals, Linda Simpsom from England just had a video about one in Manchester I think and Albanach Knitter recently had one from the Edinburgh yarn festival in Scotland. Those are both certainly closer to you than Rhinebeck 😅 Maybe not quite as large is all, but they both had such beautiful things. I have put myself on a yarn freeze after what I ordered the past few weeks, not to mention what I already have in stash. I'll be 78 next week and want to enjoy using what I have instead of seeing it end up in thrift shops!!!!!!! Thank you for a lovely, peaceful video and for sharing your beautiful blooms, makes and wisdom.

The topics are interesting (this one is a ++ in this regard!), and the way you deliver your speech is so quiet and soothing. Enjoyable as always. As regards patterns nowadays that have a large number of sizes. When I am doing a new pattern, I copy the original, put it into word document, edit out all the other sizes and end up with a pattern just in my size and I highlight where I want, make notes etc. I know it is an additional piece of work but I find it quicker in the long run. Hi Helle! Thank you for your lovely musings! I love your knitting universe and your approach to the craft and to life in general. I've never been to Rhinebeck and I guess it's a huge event; I live in the French Alps and not too far from here we've got the 'Kniteat' in Lyon on September 23&24 - so quite close to our birthday - we've got the same ;)(3h from Paris by train). This year it's going to be even bigger as it will be dedicated to both sewing and knitting. Lots of yarn makers and indie dyers, gorgeous fibres! A few years ago I went to Odense to take part in a conference and the flights (from Lyon airport to Paris then to Copenhagen) were not too long. Hope it helps!

Hello Hello, thank you for another great video (accompanying me knitting 'Cline' in spite of the heat here in Italy. Every time I knit something I have half a mind to knit any left over wool into squares and one day make a blanket out of all of them. Usually though, the other - 'don't bother' - half a mind wins out, perhaps because my colour choices are quite random. However I think the blanket idea could work beautifully with your colour palette

Hi Helle, lovely summer tops. I live in NYC and gets very hot and humid o the summer months. So definitely I am not knitting woolly sweaters for the next 3 months. Part of my dream knits was to have a "collection" of tees that I could just put on but that I know they are nicer because I made them myself. Hence I am doing my 2nd Kumulus Tee by Petite Knit. Simple and straight forward sometimes is best. I am totally on the same page with you about accumulating stress with yarns that "want to be knitting" and not just accumulating :-D Except for sock yarn. I buy any time sock yarns because I like to do socks as a in between projects. Thank you for a great podcast with lovely knits

Some people just feel like friends, or kindred spirits, even when you don‘t know them personally! You are lucky in Scandinavia that your short summers mean a lot of flowers bloom at the same time - in central Europe they tend to bloom one after the other, so we don‘t usually get that really bloomy look. I‘ve so been enjoying all the roses while I‘ve been up north because mine at home all finished blooming weeks ago… silver lining for you, I guess. And Jacques Cartier also grows in my garden 💕 Your summer tops are so pretty; our weather gets too hot for any knits but when I‘m in the north or on the Atlantic coast, I can wear them, so I do make some - guess what, I started a Kuutar top last year, also in pale blue, but autumn came too soon. I really need to finish the body when I get home 🤣 Greetings, currently from the Netherlands but soon back in Switzerland! 🧶🧶🧶

Hello to you, my European friend, and thanks for your lovely comment. The downside of all our flowers blooming now is that the show is over so soon - so likely not many flowers in my next video 😽🌸

Thank you for the pleasant time in your garden with the beautiful flowers and birdsong. So lovely! I love your summer tops. I think I will be making the Kuutar Top with my KFO yarn. I also do the tug on my purl stitch. In my first years of knitting, my purl was so loose I had to do something and a tug was the solution. It comes natural and I don’t notice that I do it.

Your lace knitting is very beautiful. I loved the first top you had on….perfection!!! The peonies are gorgeous! My peonies have, unfortunately, been broken down by the rain…because they are so heavy. I do have them supported but ….I’m glad I cut a few to bring in. Thank you for your vlog….very enjoyable. 🥰👍

Hello Helle from the U.K. So enjoyed catching up with you especially as it was in your beautiful garden with the sounds of nature accompanying you. I also have added some of the summer tops that you shared. I don’t usually bother with summer knitting as always worried about the warmth factor….even here in U.K! You mentioned knitting festivals in Europe. I think you have one very close to you in Fanø in September. We have a few here, and I love ‘Yarndale’ a decent sized knitting show in Skipton Yorkshire and ‘Wonderwool’ that is held here in Wales where I live. Best wishes to you❤️

Thank you so much for your video and for sharing your beautiful projects. I love your place and your beautiful garden. I’m a German living in the USA and I do my purls exactly like you. I always thought everybody knits the same way until I found out thru KZbin how many different ways of knitting exist! I’m also planning to knit the Joni top. It looks great on you! Anja B.

I have to say I simply love your videos and I am looking forward to each new sequel! As a German teacher of English I love listening to you and as a keen knitter, always being tempted by new yarn, too, and daily new wonderful projects published in Instagram I enjoy what you are pointing out because I feel just the same about it. Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and experiences!

A lovely podcast thank you Helle.Your roses looked so beautiful. We are in the depths of Winter here down under(although I have to add ,so far, it's not been too bad but still have some more months yet).It was so good to hear that you had 7-9 garments worth of yarn, I thought I was bad.

Hello from Cardiff in South Wales! I know Lynne Seymour of Calon Yarns fame! She used to own a yarn shop close to where I live and I would often go there. I am also a spinner (of some 40 years!) It seems I follow nearly all the same podcasters as you do. If you don't already I can also recommend watching The Meaningful Stitch, Finish Knitting Stories and Knitting Traditions. Have you heard of Janie Crow? She also designs fantastic crochet blankets using Stylecraft Yarns. I really enjoyed your podcasts and I wish you great success with them. I'm looking forward to the next ones, especially the spinning ones.

Such lovely peonies and of course, summer tops! Yarn stash - blessing and curse? Yes, I too, at times feel overwhelmed by mine after 10 years of pretty constant knitting. I'm still excited to knit much of it, especially sweater quantities. Some single skeins that have found their way into my collection may not be as likely to turn into something. So much fun to take yarn home as souvenir though and a great memory-keeper. Thumbs up to designer, Eri Shimuzu - I adore her "Shelly" - I knit this in 1 strand of Sonderyarn's alpaca silk blend.

Hi Helle - love your PC, garden (birds) & cat (looks just like my Alfie).... re summer Cardi, was recently in The Lake District (UK) & saw one evening a very elegantly dressed lady wearing pretty pink jeans, white T-shirt & a gorgeous white lace cardigan which looked like a sport weight, linen hand knit..... wish I’d asked her what it was but, whatever, it was so inspiring & I’m now also on the hunt to do similar...... greetings from Sydney!!

I would guess the reason your gauge in the round was different on the two white shells, would be the different yarns affecting your purl stitches differently. They both look elegant and summery, and I’m glad today you highlighted for me three patterns that have nice underarm coverage! 😂😂😂
