If the gabi leaves are shredded and cooked in coconut milk it is called LAING. If the gabi leaves are wrapped and cooked in coconut milk it is called pinangat. If the gabi leaves are wrapped with pounded shrimps/baby crabs/ or even meat and then cooked in coconut milk it is called tinoktok.

Summer time is the best for viewing mayon....you can also come to mayon observatory...but this time always raining is not possible....

If Mayon is shy and doesn't want to show you can try to visit the other tourists attractions in Bicol like Caramoan the location of Survivor show or Siruma or the underground river or the boiling lake.

Susie, Jonathan I’m concern about you guys traveling via motorbike for long distances.especially when it rains, more accidents happen. If you can’t use a car or similar, how about 3-wheels like all terrain vehicles. I saw a group of weekend travelers on bikes and ATVs on YT. Try looking at Can-Am all terrain vehicles, 3-wheels. Pls be safe always!!❤ -- I suggested the ATV before I’ve seen you guys riding ATV going to the ruins. I think you will be safe traveling if you could ride on 3-or 4-wheel ATV instead of just the two wheels motorbike. There are ATVs with sidecar too.

Since it is your first time to visit the place of Our Lady of Peñafrancia. If you’re religious enough, actually you can heartily pray 3 Hail Mary and offer it to our Lady of Peñafrancia. For sure our Lady will show you the whole Mayon Volcano even if it is rainy day. It happens actually during my first visit in Bicol region during our teachers retreat, we visit the Our Lady of Peñafrancia first, before heading to Mount Mayon Natural Park. During our visit to the Cathedral it’s just natural church going for me since we are a member of Catholic School. When we leave the Cathedral, inside the bus I see a pamphlet, I don’t know who bring it there and put it in the seat. So, I read it and it just happened it is a pamphlet of Our Lady of Peñafrancia. I read in the pamphlet, if you wish something especially if it is your first time to visit, you have to pray 3 Hail Mary and offer it to Our Lady of Peñafrancia and she will fulfill your prayer. So I pray sincerely 3 Hail Mary inside the bus and a wish to show us the whole Mayon Volcano since it is a rainy day (as in whole dark covered sky’s and zero visibility in Mayon area). To make the story short, a few minutes after my prayer, the sunlight beams on the exact location of Mayon Volcano, clear the cloud only in that particular area of Mayon and show as the whole Mayon Volcano from top to bottom the whole day even if it is raining. I can’t believe myself and tears going down my eyes how happy and lucky we are on that day. I don’t know if it is a miracle or it just happened. When we arrived in Mayon Natural Park, somebody told us, how lucky you are to show the whole Mayon Volcano, because it’s very rare to see the whole Mayon aura during rainy season or even in summer, it only shows half or partly cloudy. Right there I concede, I saw and witnessed a miracle and I profusely thank our Lady of the phenomena.
