This is truly an amazing story. I am lucky to remember all of this from my childhood. It was such a big story then. The book on this amazing happening has actual photographs , it really is a book to treasure. And also george adamson's book called MY PRIDE AND JOY , is both brilliant, happy, and sad. It's a book you will never forget reading. Both John and ace had an experience of a lifetime . They will never forget the trust between man and lion. They were definitely the right people, at the right time, together with Bill and Virginia. Some one was looking down on them , and helping them all the way. I have a beautiful picture on my wall of george and Christian on a rock, it always brings a smile to my face.

What amazes me is that Christian was able to find his own pride once he was released into the wild. I mean he wasn't taught how to hunt, fight and live in the wild because as a cub he grew up in a different environment. I just hope he died a natural death and not in the poachers or hunters' hands. :(

I’m literally crying and it’s just a majestic story how a gazelle eating creature isn’t always what we think it is and that to never judge a book by its cover. Also we’re reading an article and I have one answer that no one knows, is Christian still alive?
@lennyhardi37606 жыл бұрын
Michael Radice i also have the same question..but since now is 2018 I think he might died already.
@ITSONLYMEWATCHING6 жыл бұрын
This was almost 50 years ago. Lions only stay alive in the wild up to 13 years. I find solace in the fact he had the life he was supposed to have. This is why I'm so against Zoos and such with these large animals. I mean it's a double edged sword because there is conservation also. I just saw this for the first time last night after being on youtube for 14 years and watched over 150,000 videos, I have not seen this. I wonder why there hasn't been a major film made about this, this is the kind of stories the world needs right now, not more violence.

wow if you dig further George Adamson was killed by a poacher in 1989, his wife was killed by an employee in a different camp over a labor dispute. Makes me wonder if Christian suffered the same ending? I sure hope not, so far I cannot find anywhere it has been reported. Still a heartwarming story.

Yes it truly is tragic what happened to both Joy and George. But I think all they accomplished including of course their life with Elsa as told in Born Free was amazing .
@OK-666 жыл бұрын
charlee mcwhirter, I thought about the same thing as you too before. However, when I searched more information about Christian's very last final reunion with Ace and George. Christian was already known as a lead in a lioness family. His lioness family was waiting for him nearby while Christian had the very last final night with his "fathers". And then he returned to the bush with his lioness family. So now I believe Christian was with his lioness family for the rest of his life. He is the luckiest lion that could live in both human world and his own wild world, and enjoyed his life to the most. Thanks so much for George, Ace and John! George died in a tragedy, but please think about the other way. George had been enjoying his life with his lions until age 82 which he also used the most of his life. many people cannot even live that long. So we should still be proud of what Geroge has been dedicated and contributed to his beloved lions. George would be very happy to reunite with his lions in heaven now too. RIP.

Of course lions deserve freedom and life in their natural habitat. But Christian would eventually die a violent, painful death as all male lions do when they give up their kingdom to younger lions. Is that better than growing old in a pen in London? I suppose so…
