Dave (the 36-year-old with the impressive beard) was raised almost completely sheltered from pop culture by his strict military family. He was homeschooled his entire life until he entered college. He legitimately has very little knowledge of music and bands from before 2000.
John (the guy in the dark on the right) has been a MUSIC LOVER since he was born in the 1960's. Problem is, he rarely knows or fully grasps the lyrics. Dave (on the left), on the other hand, has never heard or rarely overheard the music John chooses to play for him, but tends to take lyrics literally, sometimes to unexpected ends.
John remains in the dark both as a wry play on the situation but also because of legal issues causing his attorney to recommend maintaining a low profile.
We did not write nor do we own the Copyright for the song used in this Educational Video. This is a real, honest reaction to a song Dave have never consciously heard before and/or listened to with intent. Any "facts" offered by John "Doh" are based more on his remembrances than on any actual research. Please feel free to correct him. He loves it.

So true - a genuinely amazing set of compositions. It makes no sense that rock and medieval music should blend so well, and yet IT DOES! Please react to more from this album!

The antics onstage with Jethro Tull were definitely not the result of drugs. These were showmen -- Ian Anderson was a consummate performer who injected his energy and personality into his shows with huge enthusiasm and other members of the band (particularly keyboardist John Evan) loved to try to keep up with him.

No drugs allowed. Ian Anderson is serious about his music. Guitarist Glenn Cornick was fired for his partying. Tommy Iommi said the thing he learned in the few weeks he was with Tull, was their work ethic ... Ian called rehersals at 9am.

Jethro Tull is marvelous. The first concert I ever saw. Ian Anderson is an extremely talented songwriter, flautist, and guitarist. They have produced 2 album-long works: Thick as a Brick and A Passion Play. The lead guitarist, Martin Barre is a wonder, as is the drummer Barrymore Barlow. Fabulous. Second only in my prog love to Kansas.

Ian's act is satire, tongue in cheek, all in good fun. Early on people referred to him as the "mad conductor"

😢I came across a video review of Jethro Tull’s work and right now can’t remember the first one I watched, however l love Dave’s reaction to it and both of your comments. My journey with Jethro Tull began in 1971-Aqualung in August and I saw my first show on 10/28 and was blown away even though the only songs I knew were from the album,so I didn’t know all the songs from the first three. However I do remember that they played a portion of their next album Thick as a Brick which wasn’t released until early 1972! It was phenomenal and Ian’s showmanship with his band mates was amazing and got me hooked into the music of this band. I seriously suggest that you guys dive into the whole catalog of all their music (an album per year for 12 straight years) and hear, then see the video performances-beginning with the Isle of Wight concert 1970- in order to get a feel for what the band was doing and evolving from that point on,because no two albums are alike. Just give my suggestions some thought because Anderson wrote the music and lyrics for the more intelligent listeners and you guys will appreciate his lyrics throughout his career. But you really need to listen to each album in succession to get what I’m talking about. And there’s a treasure trove of songs from the beginning throughout the 200’s, some of which are solo Ian Anderson’s. Anyway just want you guys to give more attention to this band because they deserve it and you will not be disappointed! I will be checking for a response. Love you guys and your reviews

From what I've seen, Ian was against drugs. They ended up firing their early bassist Glen Cornick because he was really into partying and inviting people into his hotel room. SFTW is a fantastic album. Thanks, guys!

Great song and reaction. Bursting Out (Busting Out) misspelling on the spine was played quite a bit by my brother. Barlow is a favorite drummer and I think played a little for Robert Plant solo work!!

Check out "Reasons For Waiting" and you will hear a ballad from Tull. So glad I saw them live back in the 80's, Ian is a reincarnation of the medieval minstrel (I'm sure he knew Henry VIII in another life)! Ian had NO tolerance for the drug scene so wipe that notion out of you head.

Organ Grinders played those hand crank street organs and often had a monkey, Calliopes were large (and very loud) steam powered organs. Both played music automatically with a pinned drum or cylinder, like a music box. But we all knew what you meant! :) I was surprised to learn that organ grinders were outlawed in NY because they were such a nuisance - in 1935! I had definitely always pictured them as being from an earlier age. I would love to see a reaction to Tull's Velvet Green, although it ah... might not fit with the family-friendly nature of the channel, haha.

We are still bound by physics, but we do observe events that generate an illusion of faster-than-lightspeed through superluminal motion via light echoes. It is due to our perspective to the source, however. The research on M87 explains the phenomenon well. One light year is still a measurable constant at 5.88 trillion miles, an unimaginably vast distance. It would take you almost 32,000 years just to count to 1 trillion if you didn't sleep. If viewing a local solar system object like Jupiter, the light takes 9 minutes to reach us here on Earth. Aliens visiting us from another solar system is just sci-fi. I'd suggest the astronomy hobby to everyone, even if you can only afford low-end optics. My (then future) wife almost fainted when I showed her Jupiter and Saturn through a scope. It is an interest we still pursue together after 30 years. Birds are real. So is the greatness of Tull!

[Verse 1] Let me bring you songs from the wood: To make you feel much better than you could know Dust you down from tip to toe Show you how the garden grows Hold you steady as you go Join the chorus if you can: It'll make of you an honest man [Verse 2] Let me bring you love from the field: Poppies red and roses filled with summer rain To heal the wound and still the pain That threatens again and again As you drag down every lover's lane Life's long celebration's here I'll toast you all in penny cheer [Verse 3] Let me bring you all things refined: Galliards and lute songs served in chilling ale Greetings well met fellow, hail! I am the wind to fill your sail I am the cross to take your nail: A singer of these ageless times With kitchen prose and gutter rhymes [Instrumental Break] Songs from the wood - make you feel much better Songs from the wood - make you feel much better [Instrumental Break] Songs from the wood Songs from the wood [Instrumental Break] [Verse 4] Let me bring you love from the field: Poppies red and roses filled with summer rain To heal the wound and still the pain That threatens again and again As you drag down every lovers' lane Life's long celebration's here I'll toast you all in penny cheer [Outro] Songs from the wood - make you feel much better Songs from the wood - make you feel much better

I stopped bothering with conspiracy theories after reading Holy Blood Holy Grail, a book that invented the whole Davinci code idea. The authors wanted to show how easy it was to invent a story by linking things together but long after they admitted fully that it was all BS people were still trying to prove it. It got so ingrained that they lost a court case against the Davinci code author who literally took their Idea and wrote a piece of fiction around it. People want to believe conspiracy theories because it makes them 'special', they know the REAL truth, they have INSIDE information.

Actually, the ONLY way to fold space and time is to listen to good music, and Jethro Tull are masters at making it happen 😊. My favourite album is "Minstrel in the Gallery" and the song "Baker St. Muse", where we go for a walk on the streets of London in the 70's along with Ian Anderson. Some funny situations and social commentary in that song.

Also for me Baker St. Muse has been a favourite, especially back in the 70s. For text analysis and entertainment the song "Minstrel in the Gallery" is even better. And by the way, Mr. Tull, the person, unfortunately passed away in 1741.

@@erikahlander3489 Yeah, I love that song too, and i think Mr Tull was some kind of inventor of an agricultural machine of sorts? Another fun fact - the bands name Jethro Tull was misspelled as Jethro Toe once on a bill for a live concert back when they started 😂

Great reaction. The studio version is longer, but you don’t get The showmanship, just a great song. I think the entire album Thick as a Brick would be quite the listen for Dave, but the edited version from this same show would be a great version for him to watch. I think he would get a kick out of that performance.

You need to get up to date on the latest in astrophysics which allows space travel from extreme distances to visit our galaxy and solar system. You must know by now that there are many other solar systems in all of the other galaxies out there that are a few billion years older than our galaxy, therefore if intelligent beings developed don’t you think that they could figure out how to get from point A to point B? Especially in a time frame that we understand it to be?Just consider what I’ve sent you Thanks
