Laura, on the eggplants, if you look on the end where the bloom was, if it's a round mark its male and has leads seeds so it will be less bitter. The ones with a oval or slit mark is female and will have more seeds and be more bitter! Glad you are feeling better!

Yes please! Please make the eggplant so we can see! And yes, here in NH it doesn't feel like Christmas either. This weekend is going to be very warm! I'm not complaining though! I used to say I didn't want a green Christmas, but now I'd be perfectly fine with it! Also, I'd love to be able to go on a day trip with you guys! It always looks so fun and beautiful even when you're just going to the city to film something! You should have a contest or something for someone to just go to NYC or even Philly with you for a day! So much fun!

I swear someday I will go to New York at Christmas time. It looks absolutely gorgeous! And I totally know what you mean about the weather being so warm, Joe. I live in Nova Scotia and it was 12 degrees (Celsius) today. We usually have 24 or so people for Christmas dinner at my parents house and to say its chaotic would be an understatement, lol. Its a typical, loud, fun and full of laughter Irish Christmas and we love it. But then I'm the eldest of 5 siblings so our house was always pretty chaotic and that is just the way my parents like it. Every family event usually ends up at my parents house. Ohhhh and a big, massive YES for your Nona's eggplant preserve. Lee xx

Laura, I cut the ginger fingers, wrap with saran and freeze them..when I have to use it in a recipe. I take a fine grater use what I need ..rewrap and freeze again..

Saw the german chocolate, immediately looked for PO box info to send you some. I might sneek a "Apfelschorle" into the package for Joe. Saw the aubergines, immediately thought of my mom's babaghanoush, it's the best. And yes, I would love to see a video on the preserved aubergines. We often have babaghanoush over the summer because of barbecue season. My mom likes to "blacken" (is that even the right word?) the aubergines on the grill before she uses them for babaghanoush.
