Hey Laura, i've been watching you for so long and one of the many things i love about you and Joe is how hard you work to get where you are. You don't have everything handed to you on a silver platter. Everything is pure hard work. P.S your cookbook is on my christmas wishlist.

Laura melts my heart ! I said the same same thing to my hubby and I am, since few months, been discussing it with my hubby regarding getting a big rectangular freezer and a fridge for the garage. I say it's the best to have both so you could store extra veggies and fruits for salads, juices, soups, etc.

I have a second freezer AND refrigerator in our garage. Don't know what I'd do without them. Love having the room for all my Italian cookies that I make ahead for Christmas and other special occasions!

" oh.. the things I can freeze." is also what my mom said when someone asked her if she wanted a free freezer lol. I kind of like those magnetic containers that stick onto metal board or fridges. they're usually big round containers so big spoons can get in it.

We have an extra chest freezer that we have right in our kitchen. We live in Michigan and you have to watch putting freezers in garages or outdoor areas that are not heated because the extreme cold temps in the winter cause the basic freezers to quit working (they do make ones rated to handle the cold though). Love having that extra storage space!

We have a freezer in the garage ( in Michigan), there is a problem in the winter. When it becomes very cold out side the freezer doesn't work (food doesn't stay frozen). Freezers in garages are not recommended in cold states, FYI :)

Joe, When you spray paint ...take a box and put holes in it with an ice pick...then push the screws through and spray the tops while your spraying the brackets. Works for me every time. And I have a freezer in my basement. I also love canning.

I have a regular fridge/freezer in the kitchen, another fridge/freezer in the shed AND a stand up freezer in the shed. And there's just 2 of us. And I'd be lost without them! Also, for your spices, which ever jars you use, store them on the inside of one of your cabinets with little shelves with a dowel to hold them on the shelf.

We live in Texas and have a refrigerator in our garage as do about 75% of the people I know. Either in garage or utility room if it's big enough. Deep freezers are also very popular here.

I grew up with 2 freezers in the garage. a stand freezer and a chest freezer. my dad was a hunter so the chest held meat. the standing freezer stored all the peas and okra and corporate and lots of other vegetables harvested during the summer. I am from Georgia, USA.

This is a fun video. Especially the part when you guys were talking about the apples. When we lived in North Carolina, I would buy the best apples from the farmer's market to make apple butter.. oh my gosh!!! great stuff. I'd buy a specific amount for the sauce and if any were missing I knew my daughter had gotten into the bags.. lol!!! she loves them too. But, we always forget the names of the apples..

Oh my goodness my sentiments exactly on the things I can freeze. My family had a giant freezer which was bigger than me and my mum requested for it. The sad thing was she passed away a few mths after my dad bought it. However now I'm married and all and after discovering Laura in the kitchen (she gave me inspiration to cook and bake) I wish we cld have a freezer tho as our apt is like a bird house (very small). Love u guys xx

BTW, Laura I love how you have done with your beauty room. I have been wanting to do that for so long but our current spare room is for guests when they come over so I can't really turn it into my own. So, I took the bathroom that is attached to the guest bedroom and use the sink as my vanity. For some reason, my family( a hubby and two boys) love using that bathroom. :-(

It seems to be the perfect size for all the prep work. I would really appreciate it.

Hi Laura & Joe ~When I lived in NJ I had a Chest Freezer because I had a basement ... so good to have back up stuff like that ... but now I live in NC in a smaller house with no basement but am still trying to work out where to put a freezer ... we have both a front & back porch & I have thought about putting one on the back porch but it is not climate controlled out there; so I was thinking that in the summer it would take more electricity ... I would very much like some feedback on this ... has anyone put one on a back porch, and if so, did you notice it affecting your electric bill?Regarding using Mason/Ball jars for holding your spices: There are one-piece lids you can get to put on Mason/Ball jars ... I imagine they can be found in Michael's ... they have a section for lid options on those jars ... that is where my daughter & I found the pump lid for the liquid hand soap jar she wanted to put into her bathroom ... I'm pretty sure I saw the one-piece jar lids there. Also, there is a type of jar with a cantilever lid with a rubber seal. Thinking they may be good for your spices, Laura ... they come in varying sizes, have a wide mouth & a good seal ... Hey, maybe create your own style spice jars & sell them under your brand name!I store my empty canning jars in an outside shed but not jars which have already been filled with food ... I am thinking they should not be exposed to any more temperature variation than necessary once they have a processed product in them.
