I know that for 7 years, I was not present with my adult children. I was stuck in a relationship that didn't exist. It was very painful for them to watch me so absorbed in my cellphone with an individual that couldn't be present for me. I am so over it now, and I am so thankful to my daughter for trying to get me to understand and see how stuck I was. I am better now, and was still working on grieving something I could never have. She has helped me by making me aware how I dodged a bullet. I totally agree, and I have moved on. Took me a while, but I am so much better now.

Points that stood out to *me*: 1) The way the listener engages, molds the speaker. It informs the speaker how to proceed. Doesn't matter if the listener was well intentioned and listening, if their body language doesn't show it. 2) When amazing things happens, there is an innate feeling of wanting to share it with people. Having an immediate outlet through the phone, short circuits that release instead of engaging connecting with people around. 3) Sometimes stage fright, might not be fear so much as being overwhelmed. Sometimes over-preparing brings on too much pressure to remember everything that was prepared.

They are brilliant in their analysis' while making you feel more comfortable with our insecurities . I think Trevor Noah is a modern day philosopher. The use of humour is so key to dealing with life but he combines intelligence and insight with humour in a way that it does not deride serious issues. It makes one see another side to these issues and may help deal with them in a healthier way.
