@@DrakeyC Yeah. Usually in the form of series. Final Fantasy I, VII, X, XII, XIII, XV and Type-0 all have their own series. Dissidia and Origins both being prequels to FFI (except NT which is a sequel), Tactics being a sequel to XII and Revenant Wings, and if you believe interviews the FFX series is a prequel to FFVII. They do cross into multiverse at times but this has been established in Final Fantasy V thanks to Gilgamesh being cursed to endless dimension hopping.

This game is created by the team that makes FFXIV. Music is by the composer for XIV as well. In Creative Business Unit III I trust.

Some of the people working on this game are people that have made ff14 one of the best ff games today. I have extremely high hopes for this game based on that alone... the trailers just manage to hype me up even more than I thought possible.

Not just some, pretty much all of them. Creative Business Unit 3 is Yoshi-P's team. The only notable person not working on XVI from XIV is Natsuko Ishikawa, the lead writer of Shadowbringers and Endwalker, likely because she's still writing the rest of Endwalker.

@@PinkMasamune Indeed he is. I'm sad how I'm not familiar with his style. To tell the truth, I have only played FF1 for a few hours, which is all the FF experience I have. I saw the Dominance trailer a week ago and thought to myself: I seriously wanna know all the lore behind this, it's so good. I asked a friend of mine, an FF nut, how I would love to play the entire franchise, meaning every game incl spinoffs. He told me that this would absolutely kill me XD What's your opinion on that? I'm not counting games that were time limited (exception: if I can still play them somehow, I probably would)

@@marinellovragovic1207 I think your friend needs to have more faith! :) One of my friends is currently doing just that. Her first FF was FFVII Remake. She then played the original FFVII and the FFVII spin-offs, Crisis Core and Dirge of Cerberus. Then she started from FFI and started working her way up! She’s up to FFV now! As I’m sure your FF friend will have told you, the games are all self-contained (with the exception of spin-offs related to numbered titles), but they all have recurring themes. Crystals and Eikons (Summons) are two major recurring themes through the FF series. I consider myself a massive FF fan, but admittedly I’ve never found the time to play the older ones, even though I own them, so I know it’s easier said than done. :) Maybe XVI could be your introduction to the series? If you can’t wait until next year and are interested in hearing more of Soken’s fantastic music, he is the composer for FFXIV. FFXIV is an MMO, but in my opinion, it has the greatest story of any FF I’ve played. I would highly recommend you give the free trial a go, if MMOs are your thing. Yoshi-P, the man who is the producer of FFXVI is also the producer and director of FFXIV, which is another reason why I’m so incredibly hyped for this game lol.

First, the music is fantastic, which is no surprise given that it's Soken. Second, between the female voice over in the latest trailer, the big extravagant summon boss fights, the action combat, and the bleak, gritty, fantasy atmosphere, it manages to feel surprisingly souls-like.

the issue with FFXIV is that it's a massive time investment. It's not that Dee Bee doesn't like it. He just doesn't have the time to invest in FFXIV. Playing FFXIV from beginning to end is like playing 20 different games back to back. Dee Bee channel requires him to have the time to play many different games to please different demographics of viewers and MMOs tend to be very boring to watch as stream content.

I know plenty of people who took months even years to catch up to the story so it has nothing to do with no-lifing the game or not. This is FFXIV we're talking about, not a korean MMO grind simulator.

Materia exists to some degree in other games. I can think of FFXIV off the top of my head. But it doesn't have so much of a front row mechanically, I think, compared to its presence in VII.

@@ltmuffler3482 That’s literally the *only* game where it’s any different and not connected to FFVII. Even in appearances in Final Fantasy Tactics and Dissidia as well as non-Final Fantasy appearances like Ehrgeiz and Dead Fantasy it’s always due to a FFVII crossover.

That newest trailer has gotten me more hyped already than I ever got for FFXV. I really feel as though this one could be a return to greatness, after the disappointment of XIII and the mediocrity of XV. :) Thanks so much for sharing your reaction and thoughts. FFXV was originally FF Versus XIII which was planned to be a realistic FF version of KingdomHarts. But we were given the mediocre reborn XV instead of "a Fantasy based on Reality" 😢

@@KHhero Considering how bad XIII ended up being (in my opinion) I think it was the right decision to remove the “Versus XIII” aspect from that particular project. I don’t think XV was bad personally, but it just really didn’t grip me. Admittedly Versus XIII always looked really intriguing, so it’s weird how “bland” XV turned out, despite the original source material.

While it sucks they moved away from JRPG game play I'll gladly give it up to have a real FF open-world game again instead of a cinematic event on rails. It's also very encouraging that they scaled back the fantasy aspect and have a more grounded, gritty feel to it. Might have to get that PS5 now if the PS Now PC doesn't get it.

It's not open world. But it will have an expansive world. They decided to go with the instance zones of FFXI/XII/XIV in order to ensure they are able to create a full world rather than just a continent like in FFXV

Those games feel like they more fully utilize the map and layout instead of just feeling like a bunch of empty space like many open worlds tend to feel. Besides. They spent all that time on the world map in 15 only for two entire maps to be cut out of the final game anyway, along with many other wasted resources.
