One last comment : Leslie was an amazing actor. Like I mean absolute power house - one of my personal favourite actor when I was looking through his famous catelogue.

Thank you for reviewing this album! Beloved was the best selling album in HK in 1995, a collection of theme songs of Leslie’s films, yeah he was also a amazing actor. Albums after Beloved would be more Leslie-styled, like Red which was released in 1996. I think those later albums will be more impressive.

Leslie certainly mastered well fast tracks and he danced well too. Examples of his fast tracks are Sleepless nights, Miss you much.

Leslie was great in singing different types of music. His stage performance was fantastic and irreplaceable . I would recommend that you also listen to his album “Red”, which was entirely different from “Most Beloved”.

I’m so regretful that I didn’t discover this video earlier. I was deeply moved when Rogan knew Leslie has passed away, he couldn’t speak anything for 1 minute😭 thank you rogan for bringing us the review.

Really thank you for reviewing this album. It is not my favorite album of Leslie but I feel very relaxed every time when listening to some of the songs in this one. I learned a lot from your review. I now start to pay more attention to all the instruments that are playing in a soundtrack. Thanks for that.

The songs in this album are mostly the theme songs for Leslie's movies. It is an average album by Leslie's standard, you won't be impressed by it the first time you hear it. But if you watch the movies and go back to this album, it would bring you to tears, especially Midnight Singer and White Haired Beauty, both are composed by Leslie himself.

Fans all around the world still sobs over Leslie's death even twenty years passed by, because he's gone way too soon. He was still a trend-setter in the entertainment industry, a heartthrob the time he died. He still had good songs and good movies put on the table near the end of his life, unlike some artists who had long passed their prime the time they died. Makes you wonder how much more he would achieve if he live longer

It's a similar pain to how I feel about Zhang Yu Sheng. I think they both would have continued to make amazing music

@@spiderhandspnz One more thing, after Leslie died, people inside and outside of the industry come out and talked about their stories with Leslie, how he helped them become successful in their own fields, or simply become a better person, and how he treated the people who work for him with respect. it is somehow sad and ironic that if he's still alive, we might not have the chance to know how amazing he was as a person. he loved to help the rookies in the industry and welcome competition, that's a very rare quality you would find in a human being. there's a word "Post-Leslie fans" used to describe people who become his fans after he died, and the number of these fans are still growing, people are attracted by both his talents and personal charisma

Leslie has always been out of the box of an idol. His vocals are always “weak” and yet the little tremors and straightforwardness attract a lot of fans. He was nicknamed “Gou Gou” (Big Brother) because his personality was inspiring and his vibe of songs are soothing and close to the heart. His death was a horrific tragedy that added to the aura of his life - an enigma not because he was the best singer, but the one closest to a lot of fans’ hearts. Track number 6 and 7 sounds like typical love songs but the way he pours his little emotional tweaks into the songs are just great.

I appreciate his ability to be vulnerable on a mic.

In fact, he was a singer whose voice changed a lot before and after. When he first started singing, his voice was relatively sharp. At that time, he mainly sang some English songs, lyrical or rock music, (he debuted with American Pie), but he became popular because he changed his vocal cords and sang Cantonese songs in a charming and deep voice. In the 1980s, he was very good at fast-paced songs. His stage performance was also top-notch, but after his comeback in the 1990s, his voice was more inclined towards popular music vocals . As you said, he was good at showing his vulnerability in this period, and the later song production became more and more bold. You can watch his 1997 concert "Red", and compare it with his concert singing and dancing performance in the 1980s, you will find that they are completely like two people.

I really think that you may review more other of his to find out his super versatility of carrying n presenting songs with great depth of emotions, which I agreed as he mentioned to some new singers before, singing is not too much on technical achievements, but rather to transfer the song stories and moods to the listeners, and moved them., to feel touched... is the hardest yet most vital aim. Oh ya btw, please do check out all of his concerts. his live performances were even magnificent as he could shake up the whole stage and floor. plus, he was also the master mind behind the concert on almost everything, humbly.

My translation of the 2nd song(May not be so accurate)😀: Male: Don't want to let go your hand, Can you stay right now? The music of love is still playing in our heart How can we call it a night? # Female: My feelings are the same as you, Don't want to leave like the Moon does Male: I have the stars to prove my love for you Love stirs like the cloud and wind between us Female: Embrace again with affection Time stops for us right now Male: Please don't say another word, Our love will be staying for tonight Together: Since we both worry about missing each other, Let's stay together for a life time.# (Repeat the # part)

Chase lyrics takes on a different meaning when you learn that Leslie was very openly homosexual during a time when people are not openly supporting homosexuality. And this when he says he’s chasing, it’s beyond a simple devotion of love towards his lover, it was against the weight of the world on his shoulder for him to chase his lover (he had a boyfriend at that time and the media was hot On their trails, and that media spotlight was one of the contributing factors to his suicide)
