I noticed with our track tractors that they don't like even moderately wet soil. Even though the ground might be frozen, pulling that nine shanks makes it tough for a track machine to steer especially on a side hill. When power is put to one track while it is taken away from the other can be hard to keep on line in slightly moist/wet conditions with a 9 shank ripper. One way to tell I guess would be to bump up the ripper a couple inches with the scv while it is struggling to track with the auto guidance and see if it corrects. Could have also hit a shadow to where the radio wasn't getting full connectivity...…..

Hi I'm Jake I work on our family farm in the uk and am a 4th gen farmer on it, I saw one of your old videos recently and saw you pull round your massive battery charger; and as winter is coming your gonna have flat batteries... We discovered last year (during amazon black friday deals) a jump pack thing called a noco jump starter, we got the "gb70" and it has been seriously amazing - it just about jump starts our combine (NH CR8080 - 12.8 L engine) and any of our tractors (JD 6170R, NH T7.200 etc etc) and it can jump like 20-30 times off of one charge - it has been a champ. They do much bigger ones too and I honestly cant recommend them enough, if you get one i promise you will love it - give one a go!

The loss of traction triggered an old memory of a test Caterpillar ran during the development of their rubber track and a comment made by the engineer. It supports the moisture and some mud being force between the driver and the track. The driver tries to climb up the centering blocks and the blocks are designed to throw the vehicle back onto the track where it should be running and the dust reduces the friction between the track and driver, this is needed for these surfaces need a small amount of movement between them to operate properly. With that going on and a bit of moisture and mud would reduce the friction track to the driver even more because it is centering on the track continuously while it is negotiating a side slope and give you the uneven feel in the tractor movement. John Deers’s design will be slightly different from Agco’s design you would notice it immediately. It would be interesting to find out from the Agco folks what their thoughts are. High loads wet conditions

As to the steering problem, didn't you just spill a bit of diesel (oil) and then wash it of with (soapy) water? Since it's very cold that's not going to evaporate quickly and might lube up the tracks unevenly on the inside. Since it went away on its own I suspect that was what was causing the anomaly. Just my guess. Thanks for the post.

Hey I gotta tell ya, I love your channel. I've gone back and watched every video of yours. I was born and raised in a crop farm in mid Missouri and my dad quit farming when I was 8 so seeing your videos really takes me back. Obviously, your equipment is much nicer and larger than my dad's 1965 jd 4020 diesel, but same concept of farm life. Oh, and my dad had three kids as well, 2 boys and 1 girl. Gotta love the farm life!

zack, i have a question. why do you till your land before planting chick peas when others prefer packed ground. do you not find tilling causes more rocks to come up when its time to harvest, and gives weeds better rooting, or allows disease to stay deep in your soil?
