Just a few tips from someone who's got all triple stars in 50, 100, and some 150cc cups- 1) If you get first in every race, it's pretty much a 95% chance you'll get a star rank. You only have to worry about your driving skills if you're going for double or triple stars. 2) Even though you feel like wheelies screw you over, they are really helpful- they help me get far ahead of the crowd. BUT ONLY use them if you're on a straightaway and if you have a bit of distance from the person behind you. If you need to quickly stop a wheelie, you can always do that by hopping/starting a drift (B button essentially lmao). The only other thing is getting wheelie bumped. If you spin out or get hit during a wheelie it'll kill your acceleration, so if you're unsure about distance from other players, cancel the wheelie early with B. TL;DR, Don't worry about driving skills for single star, and you can cancel wheelies anytime with B. Hope this helps!

One piece of advice I can give you as an experienced Mario Kart Wii player is to use bikes like the Dolphin Dasher or Sneakster (assuming you’ve unlocked both). Those two bikes are often preferred by experienced players due to their speed and other high stats, and while the Mach Bike may still get the job done the Dolphin Dasher and Sneakster are also a preferable choice especially when playing 150cc.

Me when I purposefully spread misinformation on the internet Though I suppose there is an argument to be made for the Dolphin Dasher on the Banana Cup (The Dolphin Dasher and Sneakster are in fact significantly worse than the Mach Bike. The Dolphin Dasher’s main strength is off-road, but is outclassed by the Magikruiser, and the Sneakster has terrible handling, which ruins your chances at tight racing lines, but isn’t fast enough to make up for it like the Spear.)

Star ranking also takes your time into consideration. So you can drive incredibly well and end up first in all races but if you are generally too slow to reach the ‘target time’ you still can’t get it

6:12 people have this common misconception it’s not about how much you go in the grass or how many people you bump into it’s all about how fast you are on the courses so yes bumping into people and going in the grass affects your speed but it does not affect your star rank it doesn’t keep a tally of how much you do all of that it just keeps track of your speed not the place or anything but your speed

That’s not true at all lol. The actual metric is looking at the amount of time it takes you to finish each race. You get time penalties for certain things like being in 9th-12th, staying in off-road terrain, falling off the edge, etc. You can get time bonuses from hitting opponents with items. There’s more to it than that but this is the gist

you can cancel wheeling by drifting on tight turns since you have an inside drifting bike which allows you to take tighter turns while an outside drifting bike is good at wider turns

To explain how Poof got a star rank despite getting 4th in Wario's is because (Massive nerd alert) the Star Rank calculation takes into account the actions you do in a race, one of those actions is hindering your opponents and destroying obstacles with items, in Wario's Goldmine, Poof visibly hit various opponents and defeated swoopers with Red Shells, most of the opponents he hit fell off the course (Dry Bones, Toad and Mario) this must've added a lot of points to the star calculation which granted him the rank despite getting 4th But if he got 1st in that race however, he'd absolutely would've gotten a 3 Star rank because the previous races were priceless

Beef Boss' home course is Wuhu Island of course. Its just that its in Mario Kart 7 and surprisingly wasnt part of Mario Kart 8's booster course pass.
