I got to see Tommy. He walked on stage alone with 3 guitars sitting on their stands. He brought the house down with no fluff, just sheer, amazing skill in his art. Best show I have ever seen!

I met Tommy at a concert a week or two back and he autographed one of my guitars. He is as genuine and real as he comes off in his videos, also a great showman. Nice guy, got to like him. As I told my wife the first time I heard him " This guy is so fast he has to have 19 fingers." Also a very clean player, he works his ass off for this instrument.

Tommy whether you write anything of note or not, you have been an inspiration to more folks young and old as to the fantastic power of music to move or lift the spirit, as well as expanding the limits of our vision of the sounds of a simple stringed instrument. Plus you can't hide your absolute joy of playing your guitar. You have very powerfully used your gift and talents. God continue to bless your efforts.

So many big stars end up as grouchy, reclusive, loners who trust no one. Tommy has won every accolade a guitarist can imagine, and yet he uses his time between shows helping guitar players at all levels to become better. He is just an inspiration, musically and personally. He's in his prime years now, but I think his legacy will top the guitar greats he gives humble credit to with every interview.

Yrs ago I had the enormous pleasure, on several occasions, to see Tommy and his late brother Phil playing at the Kirra Beach Hotel in Qld. Memories that I will cherish forever. Neil

A man with a pure devotion to his craft is amazing to see and hear. If he hasn't got any kids then that is a ill sad so we as musicians must see him as a father and learn from him. His music will live on thank you tommy

I must admit my Maton TE1 is by far the best sounding acoustic instrument I've had the pleasure of playing! Thanks Maton and Tommy for creating such a wonderful guitar!

Hey, heycolslaw! I have to say I'm with you. I would also say in my humble opinion, if I were to choose who is the very best guitarist, I would have a hard time choosing someone other than Tommy E! There are many great guitarists who can play fast clean and accurate, but Tommy does it on an acoustic! ;)

Great player always has a great guitar ...here in Canada I chose Larrivee. ...more for the fit for my hands and the quality of wood and how well its put together.... Side by side , they are same quality .. I have played TE 1st mouse and for me and my hands , I prefer the neck and nut width of the Larrivee ....You can get Cole Clarke Auzzie guitars , but we don't see Maton in Canada

I have been to 4 koncerts with Tommy, all amazing, and watched hours and hours of you tube with him - he is a great inspiration, not only as a musician but as a human being. Have also owned a great 808TE. One thing I have always wished for, is that he would try a bronzestring instead of his phosphorbronze, could be a Pyramid western Folk, I just think there is to much "steel" and string to his sound and less of that great wooden Queensland maple sound. Really wish he would try it out
"Waiting for a Plane" is soooo much "Africa" by Toto!

@@caratcranker5874 listen @ 6:22 on till the end... very similar phrasing. I thought the same thing then found this comment. This is in NO WAY a knock on the extremely talented Tommy Emmanuel CGP. I love when musicians pay homage to other musicians by throwing in a similar phrase reminiscent of familiar songs

I think tommy is as good a man as he is a guitarist, ''wow' ''what a man he must be''..
@CJoubert11 жыл бұрын
I think its a bit different. With someone just picking up a guitar he would have a hard time. But if someone knew what they where doing he would be very helpful.. but again if he does it very slowly the degree of music theory he can use will break a green guitarist. He knows the name of the notes he plays. But its hard to recall when playing improve because it changes depending on your mood

and so by individual voice you mean conform to the most apparent norms of music, and by speaking to the world, you are saying you play cliches that everyone can relate to? I have no questions of your picking ability, what I question is your compositional skills

lol.. I think the perfect guitarist would be a 50/50 mix of Tommy and Michael. And if you want to get stupid you can add the boy from August Rush. lol

Being the younger generation, I agree with Tommy, I feel like "fingerstyle" guitar is just turning into a bunch of stupid tapping and slapping stuff and doesn't have any aim I guess you could say
